Packet usage
Hi again.
One question: If I have an audio packet with size of (example) 35 all the bits in this packet MUSTbe read when synthesising it? Or It is normal to use only a few bits (>50%) and then get another packet??
Thanks a lot

OggVorbis "tutorial" file
Hi,
I would like to ask if someone couldhelp me. I am writing a decoder for ogg-vorbis. I am not using the libvorbis because we want a code using our memory functions and I am going to rip some of the decoder functionality as we want only to use mono, 44.100, 96-160kbs sound files. We want to write the fastest and cleanest code possible even using assembler functions where possible.
I have

encode example
Hi,
I am testing the encoder example and I have a question about it... How can I encode a mono file in 22050 and 44100?
I've changed the init values to:
ret=vorbis_encode_init_vbr(&vi,1,22050,.5) ;
and in the loop:
// uninterleave samples
for(i=0;i<bytes/2;i++)
{
buffer[0][i]=((readbuffer[i*2+1]<<8)|(0x00ff&(int)readbuffer[i*2]))/32768.f;
}

[OT] Simulating delay, packet loss to test speex?
Hello,
I'd like to change some network variables (bandwidth, delay, packet
loss) to measure how speex behaves in certain conditions.
Do you recommend any tools you may use in speex development? It seems
NIST Net isn't maintained anymore. I've found dummynet, looks
interesting, but any hints you guys may have would be most welcome...
Thanks,

After Code book
Just to confirm, according to specs, after the codebook, i should read the time domain transforms
timeCount = read 6 bits
for(i=0; i<timeCount; i++)
{
x = read 16bit
if( x!=0 )
error
}
my function does not read zero values. Read other values. Is there anything before this?

read codebook function
Anexed is my function for reading codebooks and the Vq Table. My problem is:
I read a codeBook number of 41, so i called this function above 41 times.
The firtst time, the sync patterns (BCV) is alligned correctly, so it reads correctly. the sencond time it is executed, the patter is not there anymore and there are only 8 BCV in my file.
function fReadBits1 is the same as the ogg's read bit

not the terrain-like gradient. but I didn't come even close to it
after browsing through rgl help file.

anyone running with Horde mail?
Hey again folks ;-)
Seems my auth is working afterall when I telnet to the IMAP port.
But darned if I can get it working with Horde web mail. Is anyone out
there doing this just first of all to confirm to me that the
combination works OK.
I don't care so much about shadow auth since apparantly my pam auth is
working just fine.
thanks,

Dead horse: validates_associated
Regarding validates_associated...
Let''s say I have:
article belongs_to author
But for whatever reason, I want an article to also be written
anonymously and therefore not require an author. Then I have:
Article:
belongs_to :author
validates_associated :author
But I DON''T have validates_presence_of. What I want to do is validate
that an author is valid --if it is

Rails Documentation is RoR''s achilles heel
Hi All
Just a few minutes back I came across a post about autotest/zentest and that
post reignited the feeling I get when I look at RDoc, RoR documentation.
The main thing that is lacking in RoR and to some extent Ruby''s RDoc is
showing method names in HTML is not documentation. The arguments to method,
exception/errors raised by method, return value and a usage example
completes the

strange way of forwarding to another stream.
This goes back a couple of months in the list.. But below refers to the
idea of forwarding streams. *Is* there currently any way (with mp3 or
ogg) to force the client to a new stream?? Is the "forward directive"
referred to below in use by anything, if so what? And how is it
implemented?
This seems like a very useful thing to be included in a spec. And it
doesn't seem

Some questions
After years of delays and side trips, I really am going to dive in and
build my own Samba server. And I have a few questions.
All of my servers will be ARM. The main hardware will be Cubieboards (2
and truck). They will be running Centos-7 once the development is
finished. For now I am using Fedora 22 arm. My backup file server will
be a pogoplug (armv5) with Redsleeve 7.1.

Audio Performance on solo instruments
Hello everyone, I was curious if anyone has performed any listening tests or
done work with solo instrument performances with the CELT codec?
I experience quite a bit of noise coming up with a heavily tonal stimulus,
the worst offender being a trumpet. I understand some of this behavior is to
be expected, this is a perceptual codec afterall, but was curious if anyone
was able to find an elegant

1 BDC per 50 Clients? Can that really be true? (HOWTO)
In "the 500 user office" section of the Samba Guide, John Terpstra
lists some seriously disappointing numbers for Samba scalability. To
quote, "As a general rule, there should be at least one Backup Domain
Controller per 50 Windows network clients. The principle behind this
recommendation is the fact that correct operation of MS Windows clients
requires rapid network response
