cvs trunk vorbis/ compile patches
ltconfig placeholder shoud be removed.
Makefile.am : some stuff copied from branch_beta3
ogg lib must be added only where necesary.
vq subdir Makefile.am'ized, (but installs nothing)
made distclean target slightly more clean
-- check it by hand first, please ---
also you'll want to remove vq/Makefile if the ...am passes inspection

Clean separation of encode and decode?
Is anybody interested in cleanly separating encode and decode in vorbis? I'm trying to take a stab at it myself from the head of cvs as of this morning, but it looks like a lot of files contain both encode-only and decode-only functions. An obvious one is mdct.c, which contains mdct_forward and mdct_backward (which isn't that big of a deal, since both are pretty well-contained, but it

Problem linking libvorbisfile on Mac OS X
I'm working on getting the Darwin/Mac OS X port of Vorbis up and running again and have run into problems building libvorbisfile. I have installed the latest libtool (1.3.5) and modified it to handle Darwin/Mac OS X better (to create shared libraries, dylibs, that can be linked against other dylibs instead of creating bundles which cannot be used as input to the linker).
But, when it tries

Some scratches with beta3
Hi,
I have included the oggvorbis encoding and playback stuff in the
Linux-Mandrake distro back in August 2000. At that time I put the "nightly
CVS" version, which worked just fine.
Then on Mon Nov 27 I noticed some RPM's labelled "1.0beta3" on the website
so I upgraded with these ones.
Since then we have had some serious problems in encoding: approx 20% of

Vorbis Block Diagram
Hi,
I have looked through the documentation available from the downloads and the
web and haven't yet come across a block diagram which shows exactly how the
process of going from a .wav file to a .ogg file works. I suspect it is the
same as the mp3 process (with a different psychoacoustic model). I found

vorbis-tools configure
Hi guys,
I'm trying to compile vorbis-tools with libvorbis-aotuvb5. The problem is that
installed libvorbis conflicts with myself-compiled libvorbis-aotuvb5, though
I specified --with-vorbis-libraries and --with-vorbis-includes to the
vorbis-tools configure:
vorbis-tools-1.1.1#
CFLAGS="-static" ./configure

Entropy coding in Vorbis
I have developed a flexible arithmetic coder implementation and I am now
looking to incorporate it into a compression system for some proper
testing. It is my intention to incorporate the coder into the Vorbis
codec to attempt to improve on the current Huffman tree system. It would
be useful if someone could point me at the main c and h files that deal
with the entropy coding as I am currently

Ogg Vorbis on PPC Linux?
I work for Terra Soft Solutions (makers of Yellow Dog Linux) and I'm
trying to compile the latest cvs snapshot for inclusion in our next
release, but I'm running into some problems...
I'm using modified versions of the SRPMs included in RedHat's Rawhide
distro (I only updated to the latest cvs, but the old version also
experienced this problem), which compile fine on an x86 box I

Fwd: Merging jorbis upstream and the cortado jorbis fork back into one
Of interest to some on the list.
Anyone familiar enough with Java to know how we go about
detecting/using/incorporating an external Jorbis build into the
Cortado jar ?
Or are we supposed to download sources into our tree and build the whole ?

Oggenc bug & other
Hello!
I would like to send some bugs and bugfix(es):
1. There is an encoding bug in the beta 3 (downloaded exe from the
vorbis.com) and in the latest CVS (jan. 10.) too (compiled with
MSVC 6.0):
If the file contains some non-audible noise at the begin or at the end,
the encoder/decoder makes some large clips in the output file,
if the bitrate is 350kbit/s . If I use 256kbit/s or

Multithreading
Hi.
I need to execute a function from within a GUI.
This seems to be no problem but this function takes about 4 minutes to
finish, which means the application doesn't react at all, while the
function is running.
Can I execute a function as a separate Thread, while keeping
control(e.g. a reference) of it at the same time?
If not, how do this with a class containing this function?
thanks,

problems with beta4 encoder
Hi,
Am trying to run beta4 encoder on a Sun machine. Want to compare floor0
and floor1. Do not have autoconf and automake.
Got the encoder to compile with a simple makefile. The only define i am
using is NO_FLOAT_MATH_LIB.
The encoded file when played(winamp) gives out plain noise. Am i
missing any other flags/defs?

Testing has_many :through
I''m working with a has_many :through association, where a Member
has_many Projects through ProjectViewers. The problem I''m running
into is that Rails doesn''t load the association so line (3) fails
until I explicitly access a member of the collection (in this case, I
iterated it). Is there a better way?
Thanks,
Steve
