ov_open_callbacks takes so much time to open 210 MB OGG file
Why ov_open_callbacks(fd_, &vf, NULL, 0, OV_CALLBACKS_NOCLOSE) takes so long to open OGG file? The OGG file has just 210 MB. It takes a lot of time open the file. I am working on OGG audio recorder and player. Thanks in advance! With kind regards, Pavel

Various Ogg Vorbis largefile notes and/or patches
Greetings one and all; I'm not subscribed to this list so I'm first sending this message to verify that mails from me make it through, and then later I'll send the juicy messages with patches. Also, the address I'm using is IPv6-only and doesn't often work, so drop me from any replies and I'll catch the archives, or drop only the hostname part to get an IPv4 address that

Ogg Vorbis crossfading
Heya people, Does anyone know if cross-fading has been successfully implemented in Vorbis? I need to implement it in a project I'm working on and if it's already been done, a finger pointing in the right direction would be awesome. Thanks, Ian <p><p>--- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project homepage: http://www.xiph.org/ogg/ To

Vorbisgain in ogg123
I'm considering patching my copy of ogg123 to support vorbisgain tags. Is there any interest in folding this sort of patch into the main line ogg123? Has anyone done this already (or to another command line ogg player)? Some scratches with beta3
Hi, I have included the oggvorbis encoding and playback stuff in the Linux-Mandrake distro back in August 2000. At that time I put the "nightly CVS" version, which worked just fine. Then on Mon Nov 27 I noticed some RPM's labelled "1.0beta3" on the website so I upgraded with these ones. Since then we have had some serious problems in encoding: approx 20% of the WAV

Getting started with vorbisfile_example.c (MS VC 6)
Hello Hope you don't mind another newbie's question. Further to GIE's email about problems compiling decoder_example.c example (MS VC 7) using debug static ogg/vorbis libs, we'd appreciate any help getting the example files to compile on MS VC 6. The zip files we have downloaded are: libao-0.8.2.zip libogg-1.0rc3.zip libvorbis-1.0rc3.zip vorbis-sdk-1.0rc3.zip

VorbisFile library crashs.
Hello! There is a problem with the VorbisFile library. It only works when I open an OGG file for the 1st time. After I closed the file and try to open another one or the same it crashs. It seems it applies to the use of either ov_open or ov_test functions or their combination. I wrote a test app that illustrates the bug. It crashs with a message "Unmapped memory exception". It's

Comments in vorbisfile_example
I have a couple of questions with respect to "vorbisfile_example.c" in the ov sdk. 1) Near the end, there is a comment that says "we don't bother dealing with sample rate changes, etc, but you'll have to." I assume the author is regarding to different sample rates as a whole, not dynamic sample rates. Am I correct in that assumption? 2) That etc

lack of detail for exception in ov_open
I am having one frustrating time trying to decipher why ov_read is failing in my MFC/C++ application, and I see in Google results that others have had difficulty as well. These google discussions generally involve libraries, dll's and linking options, as though there are perhaps some basic incompatibilities between ogg vorbis and win32 and/or MFC/C++. Very confusing. If I pass fopen a

ogg vorbis decoding
Hello, I am currently developing a ogg vorbis decoding module for use in winlame (a LAME frontend), and I have some questions: To do a decoder I used most code in decoder_example.c, but I think there is something missing. I would be glad if someone could look at this code: http://cvs.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/winlame/winlame/source/winlame/wlOggVorbisDecoderModule.cpp and

Multi-channel support
Hi All, Are multi-channel (more than 2) formats fully supported in the OggVorbis specification ? I couldn't find any information about multi-channel support on xiph.org. I've used 'oggdropXPd' to encode a 5.1 wavefile and the Xiph OggVorbis libraries (vorbisfile.dll) to decode the file successfully, however the order of the channel interleaving is different to the original wave

Why the two decoder formats?
decoder-example is a complex interaction of lots of Vorbis stuff. vorbisfile (OggVorbis_File) is much simpler. So why is the example code based on the complex stuff? I ask because I am trying to simplify ogg123, and add some features. Kenneth --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project homepage: http://www.xiph.org/ogg/

Direct crash on ov_open
Greetings, I've just downloaded the Ogg/Vorbis Win32 SDK 'OggVorbis-win32sdk-1.0.1.zip' and made a test app to open an ogg file. But as soon as I call ov_open() the program crashes because of an access violation to address 0x00000010... This happens on both Release and Debug builds. The test app is simple: #include "vorbis/codec.h" #include "vorbis/vorbisfile.h"

win32sdk-1.0.1
If you are after a 1.0.1 SDK built in the same format as 1.0, and if the current CVS is firm for the release, then you can download the SDK from: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/jfe1205/OggVorbis-win32sdk-1.0.1.zip This is built from the current CVS using MSVC++6 SP5. If this helps speed up the release, great, otherwise, no problem, it kept me amused for a few minutes!! John <p>--- >8

ov_open on non oggvorbis files
there can be a minor bug in vorbisfile: when opening an invalid file with ov_file the errorcode is returned as it should, but the OggVorbis_File struct can't load another file: using ov_open on the same struct with another file segfaults. also using ov_clear on the struct before reopening does'nt helps. workaround: delete and recreate new the OggVorbis_File for each opened file. --

predictability of buffer size for decoding
I am wondering if buffer size for my decoding to pcm can be predicted dependably as follows. So far, the one problem I have had is when I have played a file of only about 5k. The buffer was a little less than 10% too small. I "solved" that by padding the result with an extra 20 percent. However, I have been told that I should be able to rely on the value of ov_pcm_total. char*

No gaps were perceivable decoding in ogg123. However, an interesting effect can be had if all the parts have the same serial number. You get a bump

Ogg Vorbis SDK.
Hi, I've started making an Ogg Vorbis SDK, as per IRC topic instructions :) Some questions: Its just targetting MSVC right? Not borland/whatever? Should it install the headers/libraries in the msvc dir (c:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio\VC98\(Include|Lib)), or should it put them in the same directory as the document (c:\Program Files\Ogg Vorbis SDK\(Include|Lib)), and have the sample
