5.1 surround channel coupling

i didn't find anything about tagging flac files as surround files. i think there should some possibility to tell the player how to play a multi-channel file (how to map the different channels to the speakers or if there some decode is needed, like for ambisonic files). any idea how to implement it?

Multichannel files
Hi, As I´ve understood things, the Ogg Vorbis format supports more that two channels (stereo). Is there any tools to encode x sourcefiles into one .ogg file? I am a musican and am thrilled with the ide of makeing music in surround (or in more than stereo). This leads to my next question: is there (developing) any decoders for multichannel oggs to, let us say, 4.1 or 5.1 surround? Wouldn´t it

Hi everyone, Over the last two weeks or so, I've been thinking about how to add surround sound to Ogg -- and more than that, to do it in the best way possible. With this in mind, I started considering using Ambisonic surround sound. The advantages of this format are considerable: a) It was developed in the early to mid '70s, so the patents should be expired by now.

A possible use for multichannel ogg files!
Hi, Has anyone thought about using the multichannel format as a way of distributing "musician minus one" files? Eh? I hear you ask. Ok. Basically these are multitrack files but you can mute the solo track so you, the musician, can practice against the other "players". I vote for documenting the --channel-map option in the --help I don't like the idea of rejecting a multichannel file merely for mapping, so there should be a documented option plus an error message pointing to the option. Multi-channel support
Hi All, Are multi-channel (more than 2) formats fully supported in the OggVorbis specification ? I couldn't find any information about multi-channel support on xiph.org. I've used 'oggdropXPd' to encode a 5.1 wavefile and the Xiph OggVorbis libraries (vorbisfile.dll) to decode the file successfully, however the order of the channel interleaving is different to the original wave
