vorbis_comment interface
I was looking over the comment manipulations routines defined in vorbis/codec.h and info.c and I noticed that each "char *" could/should really be defined as "const char*". Is it expected that this will change or was it defined like this for reason? void vorbis_comment_add(vorbis_comment *vc, char *comment); void vorbis_comment_add_tag(vorbis_comment *vc,

Live stream equalizer
I was under the impression that "PCM equalizer" means it only equalizes the PCM codec, i.e. WAV files. Have you noticed a significant quality improvement in the EQ for compressed media: MP3, Vorbis, MPC? Size of Windows ogg.dll and vorbis.dll
Hello, On the Windows platform, I would like to compile a version of the codec files ogg.dll, vorbis.dll, and vorbisfile.dll that are small. I notice that the provided Windows projects are very large...the release Vorbis.dll is > 1 mb. To me, that is huge. I am only using decoding features. I looked in the Zinf project, and they seem to have a version with the encoding functions

client disconnects after one song is played
I'm using the latest CVS source under Linux using a playlist of ogg files. When I use a client to connect on the same machine, there is not any disconnect (xmms and zinf). When using a client on a Windows machine, I get mixed results. Zinf on windows will play thru the current song but then stops when the song is finished and does not play the next song being streamed (see log below).

Zinf
I've tried to avoid windows whenever possible because it is so difficult to understand and use, besides the bugs. I've been forced to it for income tax, however. Since so many customers of pan.zipcon.net use windows, I feel an obligation to have a better acquaintence with it. I have not as yet tried any builds just available binaries. I intend to write up instructions for novices in my

Windows ogg stream player?
Is there a good Ogg stream player for Windows? I can't seem to get latest Winamp or zInf working from an Icecast server. I'm trying to write comment writer thing for zinf, because I love the program, but it doesn't fully support ogg. I've found how to read comments, but can't figure how to write them. There has been some discussion about this previously in the archives, but I couldn't find any specifics, only references to code not posted to the list. The api documentation page is (painfully)

make -DNOCLEANDEPENDS distclean
every time I execute make -DNOCLEANDEPENDS distclean I get this error... is it a freebsd bug, or is it something that just happened on my system? I've tried deleting parts of ports and updating the structure with cvs but the error always happens. ===> audio/zinf "Makefile", line 72: UPGRADE print/freetype TO CURRENT VERSION! *** Error code 1 Stop in /usr/ports/audio. *** Error

Player Problems
Hi Everyone, Has anyone come across problems listening back to Mp3 streams using VLC? The reason I ask is that we [ResonanceFM] stream at 128K and at 24K (using two different Icecast instances). All players (Zinf, Winamp, Media Player etc) can play both streams bar VLC which seems to exhibt a skipping (i.e like the sound of a CD) problem when playing the 24K stream. Incidently it plays the 128

stupid user tricks with ices2: "No such file or directory" :P
I must be doing something really stupid. I've read the docs for icecast2 and ices2. Icecast2 is running fine; I can get stats.xml and see that it is running. When I run ices2, I get the following error in ices.log: ... Vorbis decoders and equalizer
When I activate the equalizer in WinAmp, QCD, and Sonic Foundry SIREN Jukebox, I get a funny "washed out" sound to it. Vorbis sounds fine without it, but I miss the extra bass and what-not. I was wondering why this happens? --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project homepage: http://www.xiph.org/ogg/ To unsubscribe from this list, send a message to

Winamp equalizer problems
I just wanted to know if anyone has noticed a difference between MP3 and OGG encoded files when having the Winamp equalizer switched on? I seem to be missing bass and the sound doesn't fill the room as much with OGG. With the EQ turned off there is no discernable difference between both LAME and Vorbis encoded files (both at an average of 192 kbps). Is this an error with the OGG Winamp plugin?

Win32 player needed to put speex into widespread use
I am eager to begin using speex for downloadable audio on my church's website - but first a good win32 player is needed given that windows has a 94% domination... Are there any plans for an up-to-date speex player for windows? (that winamp plugin is hopelessly old) Building this into zinf (fmr. freeamp) might be an option, but their code is one big mess. --- >8 ---- List archives:

dropped at change of song and...
I'm running Icecast 2.2.0 on a Windows 2000 server. I'm using Winamp with the SAM encoder plugin to stream an Ogg Vorbis stream (-0.55 quality stereo) from a remote machine. I'm having two problems. 1. The latest Winamp works great. Whamb on OSX works also (but no Title/Artist info shows up). But on other players (Zinf and Audion [OS9 and OSX]) it works great for one song. At song

Please correct this bugs in vorbis win32 environment
If You want to compile vorbis libraries under win32 environment you can experience some problems: 1) If you unzip vorbis libraries, you will have 3 directories: "libogg-1.0", "libvorbis-1.0" and "vorbis-tools-1.0". You need to rename them to "ogg", "vorbis", "vorbis-tools". Otherwise batch files or even dsp project files, won't work.

Uh, WinAmp 2 with Oddsock? You'll probably want an EQ-plugin though, since WinAmp's default isn't great. >From: assorgia@tin.it >Reply-To: icecast@xiph.org >To: icecast@xiph.org >Subject: [icecast] Live stream equalizer >Date: Thu, 30 Oct 2003 10:40:00 +0100 > >Question 2: > >I've been asked to stream a live event (no music, just talking). the

Proxy ARP with a Coyote Point equalizer
Here is a puzzle. I have a network with several servers. It''s a mess. It''s a /24 and pieces and servers are all over the place inside this /24 block, on both sides of the firewall. For example, the router at 1.2.3.1 is outside the firewall and many of the servers at 1.2.3.nnn/24 are behind the firewall. (Obviously, 1.2.3.nnn is a fudged network.) eth0 points outward to
