UCI Project Announcement
Greetings all.. From what I've been able to determine this is the current list for work on the VP3 codec, so I figured folks here might be interested in this project (we'd love to have input from anybody interested in working with us). If this is not the case (or this is not an appropriate forum for this sort of thing) I apologize in advance.. <p> Project Announcement

Java and ogg/vorbis
I am a bit confused to how Ogg/vorbis works. This is my understand. Vorbis is an audio codec that can be used instead of MP3 and it is open source. If this is true, what is Ogg? I think it is some kind of wrapper that allows you to stream Audio and Video. Am I right? Also I want to encode short videos in Xvid and then encode the audio in vorbis. Then I want to stream this over the Internet

This is a sad day for interoperability in the Web
Today, Adobe Systems Incorporated announced[1] that they will extend their Flash platform to support the proprietary H.264 and HE-AAC formats. The Xiph.Org Foundation has previously contacted Adobe to consider extending Flash to support the Open Media formats Vorbis, Theora, and Speex. Adobe developers replied by stating it would be unwise as it would increase the file size of the Flash Player,

TS from DVB-T to Theora + Vorbis
Hello, Could you kindly point me to some instruction, how to encode demuxed files (.m2v and .mp2) to .ogg (Theora + Vorbis)? I was trying to use ffmpeg2theora, but I don't know, how to put two files to ffmpeg2theora (one audio an one video) and did not found, how to mux them into one file? Exist a way, how to do two pass encoding? I'm using Ubuntu Fiesty Linux. Thank you, Jiri Navratil

libogg++ seeking w/o metric
Hi all, I started out looking for a multi-stream format, which led naturally to Ogg. I have been studying your web sites and code, and subscribed to this list. Eventually we would like to have a multi-stream codec which would have a discontinuous text component. In the meantime, I am working on running the transport/en- de-capsulation on a separate thread, and possibly with each codec on a

Website for Ogg/Vorbis support for MPEG4IP
Hi I have created a small website trying to document my Ogg/Vorbis support for MPEG4IP. You can find it here. http://www.maersk-moller.net/mpeg4ip/index.html Kind regards Peter Maersk-Moller --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project homepage: http://www.xiph.org/ogg/ To unsubscribe from this list, send a message to 'vorbis-request@xiph.org' containing

New Directshow filters preview...
I have been developing some directshow filters for ogg, and vorbis and speex... currently i have an ogg demux filter and a speex/vorbis decoding filter. In this pre-release only vorbis is operational... but the speex decoder is pretty much done... i jsut need to tweak the demux filter so that it can negotiate a speex connection with the other filter. Just though some people might find them useful

Changing video quality during encoding
I don't know how to change a video quality on the fly - I want to provide a slider with a preview window, so user could see the result immediately in this window. I tried to send ICM_COMPRESS_FRAMES_INFO to encoder or calling ICSetState() - with no success however. Am I doing something wrong ? How can I set 'lDataRate', 'dwRate', 'dwScale' parameters ? I tried every

[OT-ish] WebM/Ogg VP8 streaming
Hi all, Sorry for the VP8 question on the Theora list, but I think all the relevant people are here :) I'm using Icecast to distribute some Ogg Theora streams at the moment with a view to adding VP8 along side these in future. Ideally I'd just use Ogg VP8+Vorbis, I know there is a mapping for this already but how much support from the browsers can I expect for this configuration?

Unified codec interface
Here is what I imagined (just vague thoughts, nothing polished): Let's suppose we have a hypotetical library called "Free Universal Codec Kit" - ..um...well.. Frunick for short :) (Of course I am not proposing this name, I'm sure the suits in the industry would not like it...but for my example its OK ;) Now, an application should do something like this: #include
