RC3 Changes needed for MacOS
It looks like the Mac .exp files were not updated for RC3.
The following diff corrects that problem. The CodeWarrior
project files also have not been updated. They are in 5.3
format which is quite old. Would anybody object if I
submitted updates to them in CodeWarrior Pro 6 format?
That's the oldest version I have readily available.
If someone else has 5.3 and wants to do it, you need to

Dave clients accessing Samba
Hi,
We have about 2 dozen Mac OS9 computers running Dave 2.5.3 to access smb
resources. Our print server, running Samba 2.2.7 (w/domain
authentication), has no user accounts. PCs access the printers and print
just fine, but the Macs using Dave get an authentication error of invalid
user/password. They can access resources on the win2003 PDC.
Any idea what's going on here specific to the

Theora branch and win/mac codecs
My understanding -- Monty or Emmett, feel free to chime in if you think this is incorrect -- is as follows:
www.theora.org is the home for all new releases of the Theora video codec (formally known as VP3). This includes the main OGG/Vorbis integration product, which Monty is working on personally, as well as the QT and Windows codecs, both legacy VP3 versions and new versions reflecting any

alloca() problem with CodeWarrior
Thanks for the http://vorbis.com link. That worked. But I looked in the
download area and there is no SDK for Mac OS 9. So I am compiling the vorbis
code directly into my app.
The problem I am having now is that the CodeWarrior 5.0 compiler has a bug
with alloca(). It allocates the area on the stack but, under some
circumstances, it does not restore the stack pointer at the end of the
routine.

Mac Eudora and POP
I didn't get much joy in the list archives...
Has anyone seen an instance of Mac users (OS9) using Eudora not being
able to pop their mail? They can imap ok, just not pop (non-ssl btw).
Nothing special in the logs...
I'm not a Mac guy per se, maybe I'm missing something obvious?

can't see my Samba shares using Appleshare
Hi
I can use Appleshare to see my Samba shares when the
Mac OS9 and the Samba is in the same segment, but when
I move my Mac to another segment separated by a
Firewall (all ports open), I can't see my Samba
shares?
Can anyone help me?
Best Regards,
Fook Sheng

What does "vfs object = netatalk" really do?
hi@all
i'm using netatalk and samba as fileserver for different clients
(OS9,X,WinNT/2K/XP)
to create shares, that are visible and accessible for all clients (via
afp/smb) i created a folder and made it public in all daemons (atalk, samba)
to get a better file handling i'm using the samba feature:
vfs object = netatalk
but there are still some problems
files that are created via afp

dropped at change of song and...
I'm running Icecast 2.2.0 on a Windows 2000 server. I'm using Winamp
with the SAM encoder plugin to stream an Ogg Vorbis stream (-0.55
quality stereo) from a remote machine. I'm having two problems.
1. The latest Winamp works great. Whamb on OSX works also (but no
Title/Artist info shows up). But on other players (Zinf and Audion
[OS9 and OSX]) it works great for one song. At song

Mac OS 9 and file type/creator
Hi,
I'm using R1.5.0 on Mac OS 9.1 to create graphics as pdf files. One
problem, admittedly pretty minor, is that the file type and creator
are blank. Is there any way from within R of setting the file type
and/or file creator of the resulting files so that OS9 can work out
which program to open the files in?
Thanks in advance,

build problems with classic Mac
Hi,
I am trying to build libogg and libvorbis for classic Mac, in my case
MacOS 9.1, and having a few problems.
First I downloaded from the download page ( /ogg/vorbis/download) the zip
files for r1.0rc3:
libogg-1.0rc3.zip
and
libvorbis-1.0rc3.zip
However, there were no Mac CW project files, and I knew they existed as
one of the doc files (README??) mentioned them.
So, I then used cvs to

os_types.h
Hey guys,
Maybe its cause I'm using older tools, but I've noticed a minor problem
building the ogg libraries on a mac. I'm using Codewarrior 8. In
os_types.h on line 60, it says "#include <sys/types.h>" where it should
be "#include <types.h>"
I'm guessing this isn't an issue for all compilers, just codewarrior.
Possibly only codewarrior 8

Setting up VC6 to build VP3 source
All the notes you mention for VC are in vp32_build.html in the release, but thanks for reiterating.
Last time I built for Mac I believe I did the os9 version in CW6 and the OsX version in CW8, but I can't think why they shouldn't both compile in CW8.

flac-1.0.3_beta released
I have just released a source distribution which is the
candidate for the 1.0.3 release. At this time I would
ask anyone who is willing to help test it to do the
following:
1. download the tarball and unzip it:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/flac/flac-1.0.3_beta-src.tar.gz?download
2. do
./configure && make && make check
This will build all code and run all the tests.

libFLAC bitbuffer optimizations
Pulled from my Arch archive, this following patch seems to have made
quite a difference in getting my ARM7TDMI chip to play FLAC (compression
levels 0-2) on my ipod. I don't have benchmarks with hard numbers, but
playing with skips vs playing without skips is a fairly noticeable
difference.
memcpy and memset on uClibc are optimized in asm for the ARM7TDMI in
uClibc. Other hardware/libc
