Quicktime Vs Windows encoding with VP3
I found out about vp3 from the new winamp and coincidentally i also happen to be trying to find a suitable solution to broadband streaming. I have used flaskmpeg to create a 17mb .avi file from an 82mb Mpeg 1 file and it looks great it took about twenty minutes to encode. It runs for eight minutes and the audio is also fantastic using the lame encoder. However when I try to do the same in

Can't find the setup code
Well, I've been slamming my head against this all night, so it's time to ask for help... Having gotten together a reasonably decent port of what I thought was the whole API to the Ogg Way, complete with Ogg mem management and bitpacking, I started digging deeper in the code... only to find that it looks like I only have a middle stream handler. The encode and decode code both assume that

RE: [vorbis-dev] ACM codec
hmm -- you make a good point. However note that Divx is quite popular in spite of having gone with AVI format, so your logic doesn't hold in that case. Frankly though I sort of agree, in that Divx would have been even more popular and cause less headaches with a .DVX extension rather than AVI. I 100% agree that the form of the codec that should be distributed for playback is OGG. The

Re: [vorbis-dev] ACM codec
My concern is primarly the 'marketing' aspect. If UCI, or MCF, or any other interface, is adopted by the toolmakers, then that's a perfectly good solution. <p>-----Original Message----- From: Christian HJ Wiesner [mailto:christian.hj.wiesner@web.de] Sent: Tue 11/12/2002 10:10 AM To: theora-dev@xiph.org Cc: Subject: [theora-dev] Re: [vorbis-dev] ACM codec

Theora support in ffdshow a ffvfw
Hi, I'm developing ffdshow and ffvfw codecs for Windows. You can read more about them at http://cutka.szm.sk and http://sourceforge.net/projects/ffdshow. Stéphane Bérubé asked me recently if I could implement Theora support. I knew about first Theora release, downloaded its sources and tested it. I liked the results add decided to support it. I implemented encoding functionality into ffvfw,

Vorbis ACM codec
Is the Vorbis ACM codec still being maintained? Then I encode an avi with Vorbis audio, the sound gets out of sync after a while no matter what I try. --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project homepage: http://www.xiph.org/ogg/ To unsubscribe from this list, send a message to 'vorbis-request@xiph.org' containing only the word 'unsubscribe' in the

Changing video quality during encoding
I don't know how to change a video quality on the fly - I want to provide a slider with a preview window, so user could see the result immediately in this window. I tried to send ICM_COMPRESS_FRAMES_INFO to encoder or calling ICSetState() - with no success however. Am I doing something wrong ? How can I set 'lDataRate', 'dwRate', 'dwScale' parameters ? I tried every

OGG in RIFF-WAVE (encoding with MSACM)
So i'm trying to write an app that enocodes WAV files to "Ogg in a RIFF-WAV" files. Theese are used in Fruity Loops, and since the software itself does not have this feature i wanted to write one myself. The point for it is to save space when sharing "zipped loop packages". Such packages contain the samples (WAV) and the song file (FLP). At first i wrote just an encoder

Using Theora Micro-HOWTO
Okay, thanks to some stubbornness on my part and helpfulness on the part of people on this mailing list, I got the Ogg Theora alpha compiled up and installed and running. Yesterday, I went to the Prelinger archives (the public-domain video archive at www.archive.com) to find a high-quality original to re-encode as a test. The encoder worked just fine, and playback as well, and I thought I'd

Re: ACM codec
Mr. Blum, I had to make some assumptions writing the driver, because I had no previous experience writing ACM drivers. I did what I could based in Microsoft's documentation but, of course, I made same mistakes. I had no time to test the code I wrote yet and will not in the next 2 weeks. All I can tell you now is about what I did and about my sources. So, considering your enthusiasm, I suggest

Speex ACM Format Tag
Is there a registered ACM format tag for Speex encoded audio? I am in charge of an application which can store Speex audio in a stream in an AVI file and I would like to use the official format tag if there is one so that some day it will be playable using some forthcoming ACM codec. Thanks, Keith ________________________________________________ Keith Looney Senior Software Engineer On2

ACM codec
Hello everyone, I was just browsing through some video capturing websites/forums and saw some people complain that there was no lossless codec available to encode audio in AVI files. I thought that FLAC would have one but it doesn't seem to be the case. As it's a popular demand (now that hard drives are inexpensive, people can record hours of video/audio without any loss and then
