Performance tests
I did some testing of vorbis codec (Winamp plugin) on a Pentium 166 MMX, and found that the performance is pretty good. I got 3 % cpu utisization if I turned dithering off, and 5 % otherwise. This was with a 138 kbit song. It's pretty long to mp3 performance that was 0 to 1 % on that machine for a 128 kbit song. Also vorbis seems to have a larger working set, because if I play two songs at

boxplots
Hi! My name is Martin and I have a problem concerning the boxplot function in R. I want my boxes to be limited by the 1st and 3rd quartile and NOT the 'hinges' values that are the default setting in R. Do anyone knows if there is any command that I could do to change this default setting? Sincerely Martin Olofsson

#include scheme in vorbis project
I'm trying to implement vorbis into our game engine as a substitute to mp3 and wma encoding. And I have some questions/suggestions in how #includes are done in vorbis. Right now ogg and vorbis stuff relies on ogg and vorbis include paths being in global (or local) include path environment. This could easily be avoided by using relative includes in vorbis: #include

vbr / cbr / abr API calls
Hi, Maybe this is documented somewhere, if so, please send me a link to the documentation. My question is: how to set up different (VBR, CBR, ABR) modes when calling the Ogg Vorbis API? Currently I do: CBR: ret = vorbis_encode_setup_managed( &vorbisInfo, getInChannel(), getOutSampleRate(),

Question re: vorbis_block_clear()
I'm running into memory leak and read-from/write-to unallocated errors in the cleanup phase of parallel oggenc. I see in vorbis_block_clear() that it references some fields on the vorbis_dsp_state that it cached during vorbis_block_init(), and conditionally does some cleanup based on the values of those fields. Does this fact effectively mean that you can't have multiple vorbis_block

theora_decode_init bug
I found a bug in theora_decode_init when I was implementing the decoder. theora_decode_init should be zeroing the theora state structure right? memset(th, 0, sizeof(theora_state)); // Erik -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Fwd: Merging jorbis upstream and the cortado jorbis fork back into one
Of interest to some on the list. Anyone familiar enough with Java to know how we go about detecting/using/incorporating an external Jorbis build into the Cortado jar ? Or are we supposed to download sources into our tree and build the whole ? ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Hans de Goede <hdegoede at redhat.com> Date: Thu, 04 Nov 2010 15:31:31 +0100 Subject: Merging jorbis

OpenAl and Vorbis
Hello! My name is Lars Quentmeier and I'm trying to write a theora-player. Video is already showing up, but unfortunately I can't get my Vorbis-Decoder to work correctly. Could you perhaps help me? My decoding function looks like this: int VorbisDecoder::getAudioData(char* audiobuf, int fragsize){ // single audio fragment audio buffering bool audiobufReady = false; int size=0; int

Small vorbis files with vorbisfile
I think I have bumped into the small file error, or I''m doing something stupid. The files are short audio effects for a game (embedded in our own data format). Sample info: Vorbis packets: 1 (4 kb) Samples: 28672 Samplerate: 22 kHz Channels: 2 This is what I''m doing when I want to get a number of bytes from the stream: The problem is that ov_pcm_tell always returns 0. And so

Are vorbis_blocks really independent?
I read some lines in libvorbis/include/vorbis/codec.h: /* vorbis_block is a single block of data to be processed as part of the analysis/synthesis stream; it belongs to a specific logical bitstream, but is independant from other vorbis_blocks belonging to that logical bitstream. *************************************************/ My question. Does this imply that vorbis_analysis

vorbis_analysis() dependencies?
Per Monty's suggestions from a while ago, I have [finally] gotten around to playing with different schemes for parallel oggenc. Monty's main suggestion was to have a single thread loop over reading samples and calling vorbis_analysis_blockout(), and then queueing up the resulting blocks to be processed through vorbis_analysis() in other threads (in parallel). To verify that this works, I

libvorbis without encapulsation
Using libvorbis (1.3.5) I wish to extract the raw vorbis packets.  I've built some simple code on the excellent libvorbis API overview on the xiph.org site, but the example relies on the ogg_packet struct for final output and input to decoder, and shows now examples on how to do without it. Taking a look at the vorbis_bitstream_flush() function, which in the overview is the last step before

About lossless and point stereo
Hi, I've read the Vorbis stereo documentation on square polar mapping and currently reading the source code to understand it. But there are some things which I don't quite understand and hope I can get some guidance on. I understand the decoding/decoupling part as it is the same as the one described in the stereo docs: From mapping0.c: /* channel coupling */

managed mode / max bitrate doesn't have effect
Hi, I'm experimenting with managed mode encoding with specifying maximum bitrate. I call: vorbis_encode_init( &vorbisInfo, 2, 44100, -1, 96000, 96000); to initialize the encoding. To my surprise, it seems the maxbitrate value of 96000 doesn't have an effect, the bitrate of the

voribs_analysis() question
A variation on questions that I've asked before... In working on the parallel version of oggenc (both threaded and MPI), a profiling run shows that the function vorbis_analysis() takes up the majority of the run time. This seems to be an obvious choice for parallelization -- send each vorbis_block to a different processor, and let them call vorbis_analsis() in parallel with each other.

Extension to libvorbis for lossless volume changes
I added a new function to libvorbis that allows lossless changes of the volume to an vorbis_block. This can help to get reasonable loudness on hardware players that do not support the Replay Gain tags. int vorbis_gainadj(vorbis_block *vb, ogg_packet *op, float* dbgain); dbgain contains the relative adjustment for each channel. The trick is quite simple. I adjust the first 2 floor values for

ov_open fails on Version 1.0.1
Hi, I've just got around to moving from version 1.0 to 1.0.1. Now when I run my program, at least on Windoze, (haven't tried Linux yet), I get an Access Exception on the ov_open. Nothing else has changed. All I did was replace the lib and dll files that are in the win32sdk zip and re-build all, so it's the same the project files for for both builds. Here the snippet of code that
