Error in vorbis-tools.spec
Hello,
there is a small typo in the vorbis-tools.spec file which prevents the
successfull build of rpms:
# rpm -ta vorbis-tools-1.0beta4.tar.gz
%changelog not in decending chronological order
The necessary change is:
%changelog
-* Mon Jan 22 2000 Jack Moffitt <jack@icecast.org>
+* Mon Jan 22 2001 Jack Moffitt <jack@icecast.org>
- updated for prebeta4 builds

libsafe on CentOS 5.6
Hello all,
IIRC, libsafe was officially included in previous versions of Redhat.
However, I found that libsafe is not on CentOS 5.6 yum repo.
Is that any reason that such a good library like libsafe is excluded?
Maybe is there any better alternative for libsafe recently?

Nguyen Vu Hung

Dovecot versus libsafe 2.0.15
Hi,
I encountered a problem using Dovecot (todays CVS, 11/10/2005) with
libsafe, systemwide install. Dovecot silently dies.
Here is the end of the systrace output I got:
bind(6, {sin_family=AF_INET, sin_port=htons(143),
sin_addr=inet_addr("0.0.0.0")}}, 16) = 0
getsockname(6, {sin_family=AF_INET, sin_port=htons(143),
sin_addr=inet_addr("0.0.0.0")}}, [16]) = 0
listen(6, 8)

sem package subscript out of bounds error
I'm having the most curious error while using the sem package. For
the model I'm working with, I keep getting the following error:
Error in J[cbind(1:n, observed)] <- 1 : subscript out of bounds
I''ve used debug=TRUE with sem, and there don't appear to be any
problems with model - there are no latent variables in this model.
The variables in the covariance matrix

List extraction
I have created a list of tables with the same columns but different number of
row.
Example (actual list has ~200 elements):
> temp1<- data.frame(ID=c("Herb","Shrub"),stat=c(4,5),pvalue=c(.03,.04))
> temp2<- data.frame(ID=c("Herb","Shrub",
> "Tree"),stat=c(12,15,13),pvalue=c(.2,0.4,.3))

using functions with multiple arguments in the "apply" family
typically, the apply family wants you to use vectors to run functions on.
However, I have a function, kruskal.test, that requires 2 arguments.
kruskal.test(Herb.df$Score,Herb.df$Year)
This easily computes the KW ANOVA statistic for any difference across
years....
However, my data has multiple sites on which KW needs to be run...
here's the data:

R.spec (PR#6797)
Full_Name: Joachim Geiger
Version: 1.9.0-1
OS: redhat 8.0
Submission from: (NULL) (194.94.233.87)
Hello,
the bug concerns the source-rpm of the 1.9.0 version on my redhat 8.0 system.
The specfile requires tk-devel for compilation, but on RedHat8.0 the headers are
already in the tk-rpm included. After changing tk-devel to tk, compilation runs
smoothly.
Best regards and thanx that U R to provide R

templates with same name before extension are cached
Hi all,
I was just wondering if this is the intended behavior. Here is my setup:
controller
def index
respond_to do |f|
f.xml { render :xml => true }
f.html { render :layout => :none }
end
end
In my views I have a file for each type
index.herb
index.xerb
The first request I send is cached and interferes with the other one.
For example, if I send an xml request

Recently, I ran a series of Kruskal-Wallace tests [kruskal.test()] using by()

Plot and lm
I want to make a log-log plot with a regression line, but I can't figure
out what I'm doing wrong. What I'm trying is:
plot(mass,area, log="xy", pch=as.numeric(food))
abline(lm(mass~area))
or
plot(mass,area, log="xy", pch=as.numeric(food))
islands$logmass <- log(mass)
islands$logarea <- log(area)
attach(islands)
abline(lm(logmass~logarea))
But that does

Extrapolated regression lines
Dear list members,
When I create a simple scatterplot with a regression line (se below) the
line is automatically extrapolated outside the range of data points. Why
is this and how can I prevent R from extrapolating the regression line?
Thank you in advance,
Johan

Extracting values from a list
I have run a kruskal.test() using the by() function, which returns a list of
results like the following (subset of results):
Herb.df$ID: 4-2
Kruskal-Wallis chi-squared = 18.93, df = 7, p-value = 0.00841
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Herb.df$ID: 44-1
Kruskal-Wallis chi-squared = 4.43, df = 6, p-value = 0.6187
So then, how do extract a vector

Samba Team? - "ld.so.1: ls: fatal: relocation error: file /usr/lib/nss_winbind.so.1: symbol socket: referenced symbol not foun d"
I've recompiled samba 2.2.3a and still any time I do a ls -l in a directory
where there are files from a PC I get the error :
ld.so.1: ls: fatal: relocation error: file /usr/lib/nss_winbind.so.1: symbol
socket: referenced symbol not found
If I shut off winbind or take winbind out for my /etc/nsswitch.conf file, I
can get a directory listing and it lists the users ID that winbind assigned

You can test if winbind is able to resolve user IDs internally with "wbinfo
-u". This uses the samba tool "wbinfo" to connect directly to the running
winbind daemon and list all the Windows domain users. If that fails, then
you have problems with the winbind daemon itself. The authentication between
winbind and the PDC can be tested with "wbinfo -t", which is usually

Gluster consulting
Yeah, unfortunately that's all that have come forward as available. I
think the demand for gluster expertise is just so high and the pool of
experts so low that there's nobody left to do consulting work.

constrOptim - error: initial value not feasible
Hello at all,
working with a dataset I try to optimize a non-linear function with
constraint.
test<-read.csv2("C:/Users/Herb/Desktop/Opti/NORM.csv")
fkt<- function(x){
a<-c(0)
s<-c(0)
#Minimizing square error
for(j in 1:107){
s<-(test[j,2] - (x[1] * test[j,3]) - (x[2] * test[j,4]) - (x[3]*test[j,5]) -
(x[4]*test[j,6]) - (x[5]*test[j,7]))^2
a<- a+s}

Gluster consulting
Thanks for the replies Joe.
Yes, it does seem that Gluster is a very in-demand expertise. And it's
hard to justify the cost of Red Hat's commercial offering without first
putting a POC in place to confirm viability.
Thanks again,
HB
