mixing and 'downgrading' of vorbis-files
Greetings, I was wondering some things: For a internet radio-station (e.g. using mp3 and hopefully using ogg soon), appart from the basic 'streaming' functionallity, there are two things that are also important - mixing music - 'downgrading' a signal to a lower datarate. Concerning 'mixing' music, it would be interesting to be able to mix two ogg-files without the need to

Extracting sample count from a Vorbis packet
I was wondering if there was a way to determine the number of samples in a Vorbis packet without having to decode the whole thing? The reason I'm asking this is because I'm thinking about implementing the current Vorbis RTP draft for Helix. The problem is that the Ogg pages only contain a single timestamp. If I want to split up the Vorbis packets on different boundries than the Ogg

contstant bittrate mode - block size - packet size
Hello, I am trying to implement a realtime encoding then streaming solution using the vorbis codec (would be wrapped in a "7F" type for minimal framing overhead) for sending audio over a low bit rate wireless link. since we need a constant bittrate (i.e. constant packet size) for this solution we want to run the alg in constant bitrate mode; for evaluation of the codec I followed the

AW: packets and OGG pages
Thanks for your replys. >packets don't always begin at the >start of a page OK, since I only want to read / write the Vorbis comments, I can limit it to the Vorbis header packets. http://xiph.org/vorbis/doc/Vorbis_I_spec.html stats that the comment header always begins on the second ogg page. Since the length of the precedent identification header is fixed, this even is a fixed offset

packets and OGG pages
Hello all, my name is Mathias, I'd like to ask about some details of the OGG format because I'm quite new to it. I'd like to write a native .NET library for reading and writing Vorbis comments. It's going to be open-sourced as soon as it's finished. So here it goes: 1) When packing (Vorbis) packets to OGG pages, does a new packet always begin on a fresh OGG page? Within the

Carrying non-audio data in an Ogg/Vorbis I stream
Hello, I would like to "piggy-back" other data in an Ogg/Vorbis I physical stream (i.e. file) in a manner that does not conflict with specifications and existing decoders/players/editors etc. As far as I can see, I have some possible choices: 1 - Chaining a logical bistream at the end. If this is the way to go, two questions arise to begin with: q1a - How to identify this stream in a

Given ONLY an ogg packet, can one be able to decode the packet to PCM?
Given ONLY an ogg packet, can one be able to decode the packet to PCM? And how ogg vorbis know the info of it (bitrate..etc) in order to decode it? <p><p>--- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project homepage: http://www.xiph.org/ogg/ To unsubscribe from this list, send a message to 'vorbis-dev-request@xiph.org' containing only the word

Calculating vorbis packet durations...
After a few other attempts at hacks to determine start times of pages, the only other option left is to partially decode the packets in the demuxer in order to give correct start time stamps after a seek. Someone mentioned it was relatively easy to do without a full decode. I've had a bit of a search in the mailing lists and on the web and can't find any details about it. What i need is

Ogg embedding, problem with spec and/or bugs in speexenc
(Sending again after subscribing, I guess the moderator is on vacation.) I'm working on support for tagging Speex files for Mutagen[0] and part of the specification at [1] is confusing me. It says the first page should have granulepos 0 and packetno 0. Does this really mean page sequence number 0, since the Ogg format doesn't number packets? If it doesn't mean page sequence number,

CDex and Flac
I am using CDex to encode my music into Flac. I am using the latest version of Flac (with the frontend etc.) and sending the rips to it as an 'external encoder' with the string: -8 -o %2 -T "artist=%a" -T "title=%t" -T "album=%b" -T "date=%y" -T "tracknumber=%tn" -T "genre=%g" - However, I am getting the below output/error with

Basic Doubt on Packets and Pages
Hi All, Sorry if this is too much silly. Vorbis encoder gives out packets of information. 1. Is it that each packet contain information of one frame/window either 256 / 2048 or any length set by encoder? If yes then the encoded packet will be variable in length. 2. Every packet is divided into segments, how does the encoder decide on number of segments in each packet? It must be dependent upon

packetno, granulepos, streaming and framing
Hi While implementing OSS Ogg/Vorbis encoding and streaming using RTP/RTCP for both unicast and multicast, I have come across a few issues I need to clear out regarding the numbering of ogg_packets and their granulepos value. Below are the result for two different scenarios. <p>In the first scenario, ogg_packets are generated using a) vorbis_analysis_headerout() b) while

some more granulepos questions
I've made a lot of progress on my lossless Vorbis editing project. I have a few more questions about granulepos issues I don't quite understand. granulepos is a property of Ogg pages, yet it is a field in the ogg_packet struct. When reading packets from an Ogg stream, the granulepos is set to -1 for all packets except the last packet in a page. From this I infer that - for encoding,

Will Vorbis happily decode packets with random data?
Hi, For my application there's been some talk of people hiding viruses in Vorbis files. While the possibility's remote, I'm exploring ways to verify that a give file really is a Vorbis file, and doesn't even have long streaches of executable code in the middle of it. If a file has valid Ogg page structure, and a valid Vorbis header, but somewhere in the file a packet has been
