Winamp plug-in; http streaming revisited
Here's my latest hack of the current httpstream.c as well as updated resources. Yes, I know it was time that would have been better spent on writing new streaming code from scratch :P <HR NOSHADE> <UL> <LI>application/octet-stream attachment: resource.h </UL> -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... Fixed vs. Floating Point primer. was: Implementing Vorbis in hard ware
Let me chime in with a few facts regarding DSPs. It may be review to anyone who has programmed DSPs, but some may find it informative. Fixed-Point vs. Floating Point DSP chips Floating Point DSPs make the best/easiest compiler targets. Most of the standard operations present in ANSI C translate fairly well into floating point DSP assembly. This reduces the need for assembly

building ogg
Okay I figured out the environment space problem. Now I am trying to build the winamp plugin but I am missing the httpstream.h file. I downloaded the nightly cvs snapshot. Anyone know where I can get that file? I searched the entire snapshot but cannot find that file. Calling functions
Another newbie question. I've written a function and saved the file as Xtabs.R, in a central place on a network so others will be able ot use the function, My question is how do i call this function? I've tried to chance the working directory, and tried to load it via; > library(Xtabs, lib.loc="//filer/common/technical/surveys/R_test") but neither seem to work? the function

CVS Broken Again?
Hi All, Is the CVS source broken again? My attempts to compile indicate a missing file in vorbis/lib, bitbuffer.c (and its h file). Copying in an old downloaded copy produces the following from MSCV 7 (attempting to build OggEnc, having built SDK/all - apparently not without error :-).. encode.obj : error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol _vorbis_bitrate_flushpacket referenced in function

Some scratches with beta3
Hi, I have included the oggvorbis encoding and playback stuff in the Linux-Mandrake distro back in August 2000. At that time I put the "nightly CVS" version, which worked just fine. Then on Mon Nov 27 I noticed some RPM's labelled "1.0beta3" on the website so I upgraded with these ones. Since then we have had some serious problems in encoding: approx 20% of the WAV

Sorry, had to foward this. Chris: Majordomo is triggering on the HTML in the message and rejecting it. cvs trunk vorbis/ compile patches
ltconfig placeholder shoud be removed. Makefile.am : some stuff copied from branch_beta3 ogg lib must be added only where necesary. vq subdir Makefile.am'ized, (but installs nothing) made distclean target slightly more clean -- check it by hand first, please --- also you'll want to remove vq/Makefile if the ...am passes inspection ------------------------------------------------- diff

Problem linking libvorbisfile on Mac OS X
I'm working on getting the Darwin/Mac OS X port of Vorbis up and running again and have run into problems building libvorbisfile. I have installed the latest libtool (1.3.5) and modified it to handle Darwin/Mac OS X better (to create shared libraries, dylibs, that can be linked against other dylibs instead of creating bundles which cannot be used as input to the linker). But, when it tries

Compiling problems libvorbis 2.0
Hi Guys, I want to compile libvorbis, but I get this error message if I made a make. Entropy coding in Vorbis
I have developed a flexible arithmetic coder implementation and I am now looking to incorporate it into a compression system for some proper testing. It is my intention to incorporate the coder into the Vorbis codec to attempt to improve on the current Huffman tree system. It would be useful if someone could point me at the main c and h files that deal with the entropy coding as I am currently

optimization patches
Well, here you are. 24k; sorry if I'm not supposed to put this size things in your mailbox, didn't know where else to put it. And you all are subscribed to vorbis-dev, after all. I'm not that good at breaking patches apart, so it's one big patch. Sorry. Overview: configure.in make profiling easier & more useful decoder-example.c (#if 0'ed) dither output;

Clean separation of encode and decode?
Is anybody interested in cleanly separating encode and decode in vorbis? I'm trying to take a stab at it myself from the head of cvs as of this morning, but it looks like a lot of files contain both encode-only and decode-only functions. An obvious one is mdct.c, which contains mdct_forward and mdct_backward (which isn't that big of a deal, since both are pretty well-contained, but it

small error in Ogg Vorbis FAQ
"Ogg Vorbis uses the Ogg bistream format, and the correct extension is .ogg" -- http://www.xiph.org/ogg/vorbis/faq.html I'm guessing it should read 'bitstream'. <p>--- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project homepage: http://www.xiph.org/ogg/ To unsubscribe from this list, send a message to 'vorbis-dev-request@xiph.org'

oggenc: feature request
I have a small feature request for oggenc: Can a command line option be added to allow the user to set the first serial number to be used for the output ogg stream? This only takes a few lines of code, actually. Rationale: it is quite helpful for debugging other encoders. If oggenc is the "reference" encoder, ensuring that your new whiz-bang encoder has diffable output to oggenc is a

Vorbis Block Diagram
Hi, I have looked through the documentation available from the downloads and the web and haven't yet come across a block diagram which shows exactly how the process of going from a .wav file to a .ogg file works. I suspect it is the same as the mp3 process (with a different psychoacoustic model). I found this document:

use of 'long' in vorbis structures
The codebase sets up ogg_int32_t, etc, but then uses long directly in several structures. Unfortunately for me longs are 64 bits on my platform, not 32, and I end up getting hammered by unnecessary software math routine calls. Should I be able to just search/replace 'long' with 'ogg_int32_t' in the code or would that cause more problems than it fixes? -Dave --- >8 ---- List

vq diffs
please add the following diffs to the vorbis/vq dir. - include files changed so things actually compile in new scheme - _ogg_...alloc cleanups caught a half-dozen typos or so - minor Makefile touchup. (stuff is still not tested, but this will compile at least) Would someone with cvs write access commit them for me please? Erik diffs: ------------------------ diff -bBu2r vorbis/vq/Makefile
