cvs trunk vorbis/ compile patches
ltconfig placeholder shoud be removed. Makefile.am : some stuff copied from branch_beta3 ogg lib must be added only where necesary. vq subdir Makefile.am'ized, (but installs nothing) made distclean target slightly more clean -- check it by hand first, please --- also you'll want to remove vq/Makefile if the ...am passes inspection ------------------------------------------------- diff

Clean separation of encode and decode?
Is anybody interested in cleanly separating encode and decode in vorbis? I'm trying to take a stab at it myself from the head of cvs as of this morning, but it looks like a lot of files contain both encode-only and decode-only functions. An obvious one is mdct.c, which contains mdct_forward and mdct_backward (which isn't that big of a deal, since both are pretty well-contained, but it

Vorbis Block Diagram
Hi, I have looked through the documentation available from the downloads and the web and haven't yet come across a block diagram which shows exactly how the process of going from a .wav file to a .ogg file works. I suspect it is the same as the mp3 process (with a different psychoacoustic model). I found this document:

unsigned long long suffix
share/compat.h contains the following code: /* adjust for compilers that can't understand using LLU suffix for uint64_t literals */ #ifdef _MSC_VER #define FLAC__U64L(x) x #else #define FLAC__U64L(x) x##LLU #endif I tested MSVS 2005 and indeed it doesn't support LLU suffix, but it can compile a code with ULL suffix. Also, http://gcc.gnu.org/onlinedocs/gcc/Long-Long.html mentions ?ULL?

Libtheora
Hi all, I am Sahana. I am currently working on Libtheora for windows platform and very new to it. I am getting a lot of compiling errors. Since Libtheora depends on libogg and libvorbis i have added these as well to my workspace in VC++ 6. I have a doubt regarding the x86 and x86_vc folders described in the libtheora software.Since both these folders have the same set of files which one do we

visual studio 2005 - help getting speex workin'
Hey there, I'm having trouble getting speex working with a project that uses it. For some quick background, the game Quake 3 was GPL'ed a while ago. Some programmers decided to throw it into a public svn and improve on it, called it ioquake3. One of the blokes integrated speex into ioquake3 and it works, but I have troubles getting it to compile/link properly with Visual Studio 2005. I

[RFC PATCH v1 0/3] Introducing ARM SIMD Support
libvorbis does not currently have any simd/vectorization. Following patches add generic framework for simd/vectorization and on top, add ARM-NEON simd vectorization using intrinsics. I was able to get over 34% performance improvement on my Beaglebone Black which is single Cortex-A8 based CPU. You can find more information on metrics and procedure I used to measure at

[LLVMdev] compiling rev. 116572 on you-know-what
Hi! These warnings and errors might be interesting to you when compiling rev. 116572 of llvm and clang on windows: \llvm\utils\killthedoctor\system_error.h(260) : error C2065: 'EAFNOSUPPORT' : undeclared identifier and many similar errors regarding the system error constants. msdn says it's WSAEAFNOSUPPORT instead of EAFNOSUPPORT (prepend WSA... to all system error constants)

Multi-channel support
Hi All, Are multi-channel (more than 2) formats fully supported in the OggVorbis specification ? I couldn't find any information about multi-channel support on xiph.org. I've used 'oggdropXPd' to encode a 5.1 wavefile and the Xiph OggVorbis libraries (vorbisfile.dll) to decode the file successfully, however the order of the channel interleaving is different to the original wave

Direct crash on ov_open
Greetings, I've just downloaded the Ogg/Vorbis Win32 SDK 'OggVorbis-win32sdk-1.0.1.zip' and made a test app to open an ogg file. But as soon as I call ov_open() the program crashes because of an access violation to address 0x00000010... This happens on both Release and Debug builds. The test app is simple: #include "vorbis/codec.h" #include "vorbis/vorbisfile.h"

lack of detail for exception in ov_open
I am having one frustrating time trying to decipher why ov_read is failing in my MFC/C++ application, and I see in Google results that others have had difficulty as well. These google discussions generally involve libraries, dll's and linking options, as though there are perhaps some basic incompatibilities between ogg vorbis and win32 and/or MFC/C++. Very confusing. If I pass fopen a

ov_open_callbacks takes so much time to open 210 MB OGG file
Why ov_open_callbacks(fd_, &vf, NULL, 0, OV_CALLBACKS_NOCLOSE) takes so long to open OGG file? The OGG file has just 210 MB. It takes a lot of time open the file. I am working on OGG audio recorder and player. Thanks in advance! With kind regards, Pavel

Oggenc bug & other
Hello! I would like to send some bugs and bugfix(es): 1. There is an encoding bug in the beta 3 (downloaded exe from the vorbis.com) and in the latest CVS (jan. 10.) too (compiled with MSVC 6.0): If the file contains some non-audible noise at the begin or at the end, the encoder/decoder makes some large clips in the output file, if the bitrate is 350kbit/s . If I use 256kbit/s or

[LLVMdev] Next LLVM release thoughts?
I'm not sure how many people are using Visual Studio to build the llvm tools, other than myself? When I compile the llvm tools on linux I do not see any warnings (I believe -Wall is set?). However, under visual studio there are a lot of warnings, mostly of this form: warning C4244: 'initializing' : conversion from 'uint64_t' to 'unsigned int', possible loss of data

merging monty's branch
Hi folks, I'm doing a merge of my current branch onto the mainline (for testing) today. I believe it to be stable. Just a little more vorbisfile testing. After the merge, I have a few more patches to apply, then onto cascading/coupling. New stuff: Floor backend 1 and residue backend 1; both are present, but the mainline modes won't use either yet. Naturally, both are enabled for
