prebeta4 compile error
I can successfully compile the libogg prebeta4 tarball, but when I try to compile libvorbis I get make[2]: Entering directory `/home/me/dl/libvorbis-1.0prebeta4/lib' /bin/sh ../libtool --mode=link gcc -O20 -ffast-math -mno-ieee-fp -D_REENTRANT -fsigned-char -DUSE_MEMORY_H -o libvorbis.la -rpath /usr/local/lib -version-info 0:1:1 mdct.lo smallft.lo block.lo envelope.lo window.lo lsp.lo

vorbis-tools configure
Hi guys, I'm trying to compile vorbis-tools with libvorbis-aotuvb5. The problem is that installed libvorbis conflicts with myself-compiled libvorbis-aotuvb5, though I specified --with-vorbis-libraries and --with-vorbis-includes to the vorbis-tools configure: vorbis-tools-1.1.1# CFLAGS="-static" ./configure

cvs trunk vorbis/ compile patches
ltconfig placeholder shoud be removed. Makefile.am : some stuff copied from branch_beta3 ogg lib must be added only where necesary. vq subdir Makefile.am'ized, (but installs nothing) made distclean target slightly more clean -- check it by hand first, please --- also you'll want to remove vq/Makefile if the ...am passes inspection ------------------------------------------------- diff

Some scratches with beta3
Hi, I have included the oggvorbis encoding and playback stuff in the Linux-Mandrake distro back in August 2000. At that time I put the "nightly CVS" version, which worked just fine. Then on Mon Nov 27 I noticed some RPM's labelled "1.0beta3" on the website so I upgraded with these ones. Since then we have had some serious problems in encoding: approx 20% of the WAV

Consistency regarding compiled Cortado 0.6.0 source and the official binary
(I previously sent this message (minus some slight edits) to theora-dev at xiph dot org, but it did not seem to show up in the archives. I do not know if one has to be subscribed in order to post messages.) Among other things, this message concerns the compilation of the downloaded source code for version 0.6.0 of the Cortado Java applet. (the source was probably from a file that was originally

Clean separation of encode and decode?
Is anybody interested in cleanly separating encode and decode in vorbis? I'm trying to take a stab at it myself from the head of cvs as of this morning, but it looks like a lot of files contain both encode-only and decode-only functions. An obvious one is mdct.c, which contains mdct_forward and mdct_backward (which isn't that big of a deal, since both are pretty well-contained, but it

Mixing libvorbisfile with SDL
I am having no luck at all mixing libvorbisfile with the cross-platform gaming library SDL. It seems that any time I call ov_clear, the app goes unstable and crashes later in calls to glibc. This is unacceptable for obvious reasons and I was wondering if there was a way to fix it by just using libvorbis. I was going to experiment with the possibility, but I have, as yet, been unable to find

Sound glitch when using libvorbisfile and libao
How can this problem be reproduced? If you have an specific .ogg file that gives problems it would be helpful to have them so we can try to reproduce them. Kind regards, Gunter. Sound glitch when using libvorbisfile and libao
Hi there, I've been grappling with this for some time, so I'm finally breaking down and trying this list. I'm trying to integrate libvorbisfile and libao to create a simple sound file player, a la ogg123. To do this, I borrowed heavily from ao_example.c and vorbisfile_example.c. I feed the buffer from ov_read into ao_play in a simple loop. It usually works, but occasionally all it

Sound glitch when using libvorbisfile and libao
Hi Gunter, Thank you for your quick response. As I mentioned in the email, I cannot dependably reproduce it. It comes and goes, and I just have to wait for it to come up before I can try to debug it. I've found it tends to happen when I've been taxing my sound driver, but this isn't consistent either. My inability to consistently reproduce this has made it a nasty bug for me to

Ogg ouput using libvorbisfile
Hi, I'm new to writing any kind of sound program and somewhat new to C. I am on linux and I've been trying to get the example code (http://www.xiph.org/ogg/vorbis/doc/vorbisfile/example.html)for the decoder using libvorbisfile to work. I think my main problem is output to /dev/dsp. If I use the example where the only change I made were to open a file instead of using stdin and I ouput

Perl wrapper for libvorbisfile or stuff
Hey guys, I wrote to this list previously, saying I needed a perl module to do Ogg Vorbis tag reading / writing. People pretty much pointed me to the Ogg::Vorbis module that wrapped around libvorbisfile and I should extend that to writing streams, not only reading them. Well, awright, I thought, let's do it. Problem is, though: The download links on freshmeat are all broken and I don't

Ogg Vorbis on PPC Linux?
I work for Terra Soft Solutions (makers of Yellow Dog Linux) and I'm trying to compile the latest cvs snapshot for inclusion in our next release, but I'm running into some problems... I'm using modified versions of the SRPMs included in RedHat's Rawhide distro (I only updated to the latest cvs, but the old version also experienced this problem), which compile fine on an x86 box I

Suggestion for libvorbisfile: scaling
I've been experimenting with the ideas of Replay Gain[1] and find that ogg123 doesn't have a way of specifying the scaling applied to replayed samples (like -f in mpg123). Looking at libvorbisfile, I see no function exactly matching this possibly desirable behaviour. ov_read() scales by either 128 (byte output) or 32768 (word output), but there's nothing in between. ov_read_float()

vorbisfile.o givng me problems
I have been having problems compling vorbis on my computer( running redhat 7.1 ), it gives me a bunch of errors about vorbisfile.o( at least that what the errors are complaining about...I don't know enough to figure out what is wrong ). Below is the output I get from compile: Making all in examples make[1]: Entering directory `/home/mchavez/devel/vorbis/examples' /bin/sh ../libtool
