vq diffs
please add the following diffs to the vorbis/vq dir.
- include files changed so things actually compile in new scheme
- _ogg_...alloc cleanups caught a half-dozen typos or so
- minor Makefile touchup.
(stuff is still not tested, but this will compile at least)
Would someone with cvs write access commit them for me please?

also you'll want to remove vq/Makefile if the ...am passes inspection

encoder observation
Hello!
First of all a question:
When you make the encoder tables (ie: mode_e.h)
do you use the mapping0_forward function?
Because you made the encoder tables, and after this
you did a minor correction in the final beta4 ...
(this correction was:
additional[0]=fabs(additional[0]*scale);
in the mapping0_forward function)
(I see this was a bug, and the modification
was correct, but this correction

floating point exceptions, and questions
#include <float.h>
should define DBL_MIN and FLT_MIN, as well as
DBL_MIN_EXP and FLT_MIN_EXP (such that 10eFLT_MIN_EXP is a valid float)
This is a standard header file. But gcc now hides it away (mine was
in /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i386-linux/<compiler-version>/include/ )
BTW - any corrections for my surf.chimie.uqam.ca/~kruus/vorbis/ stuff?

docs URL
Hi. I've put up some docs related to my first encounter with the
vorbis source code at
http://surf.chimie.uqam.ca/~kruus/vorbis/encoder/index.html
It documents a newbie's first look and [serious] attempts to trace
through examples/example_encoder.c . Don't laugh too hard!
Even though the docs are quite un-doc-like,
I've stopped working on them indefinitely, since Monty

R-devel and gcc 3.4
I tried compiling R-devel from the subversion sources using gcc 3.4.1
and it fails in make check at d-p-q-r-tests. It compiles and works
using gcc 3.3.4. Can post more details if needed (don't remember the
exact error off the top of my head). Linux-i686.

The vorbis source browser and newbie docs that I used to host in

are now in New York. At least for now. The old beta2 encoder document
has many links that work again, reflecting some of the beta3 directory
changes.
While the document still is 95% beta2-centric, it is -slowly- being
updated

Wine why no audio?
Hi.
Until Fedora 15, I used qsynth+Fluidsynth+alsa+biab and everything worked fine.
But not anymore with Fedora 16. I can't see any midi drivers in band-in-a-box.
I'm sure about my setup. Everything seems fine.
I dont know which one is failing, but I suspect wine. The midi ports are ready:

Replication via sneakernet
Is there a way to get a running transaction log from a Dovecot instance to
synchronize (and I use that word very, very loosely) multiple instances
that don't share a network?
Why I would want to do such a thing: I have a couple way stations along a
long, winding road through very hilly country, and at each of these
stations, I have a few people (and many, many more at one end of the road).

Band in a Box 2008 with Ubuntu through wine?
I am really getting into my new Ubuntu Hardy Heron software but wondered if any music lovers amongst you could give me some advice? I heavily use Band in a Box 2008 on the XP side of my machine and have tried to install it, through the wine emulator so I can use it in Ubuntu. I could then, more or less, abandon the XP side on a 90% basic. Something I would very much like to do. Unfortunately BB

Documentation gripes
I have been a member of the mailing list for a couple months now. I have
not contributed anything because it has been difficult to gain a toehold
from which I could really understand the concepts used in Ogg Vorbis.
I would like to help out, but it is hard to get an idea of the overall
architecture with docs like http://www.xiph.org/ogg/vorbis/doc/vorbis.html ,
in which every link is dead.

Bug#399700: xen-unstable: bugfix, patch included. now build-deps on linux-support-2.6.22-3
Package: xen-unstable
Version: 3.0-unstable+hg11561-1
Followup-For: Bug #399700
The included patch overcomes the old build dependency on
linux-support-2.6.17-2, and replaces it with linux-support-2.6.22-3. I
filed a previous bug #453912 - but I guess it doesn't apply?
