NetBSD patches
------- Forwarded Message
The following patches should fix vorbis-tools to build on NetBSD. I'm
not including the diff to the configure scripts, so you'll need to
rerun autoconf in the toplevel and libao directory after applying
these patches to the configure.in files.
It also appears that vorbis-tools/libao/ao_libs.inc is automatically
generated by a configure script but checked into

Followup to compiling Ogg on NetBSD-1.5/i386
Hi Jeremy,
I went through the list archives, and have been trying to follow and
implement things as I understand:
1. libao needs <sys/soundcard.h> and <machine/soundcard.h>, and so I
linked /usr/include/soundcard.h there.
2. Since `soundcard.h' doesn't have SNDCTL_DSP_GETODELAY, I uncommented
that particular line in `src/plugins/oss/ao_oss.c'. These steps made sure

Patches for NetBSD
I submitted four new packages for the NetBSD pkgsrc collection: libao,
libogg, libvorbis and vorbis-tools for 1.0beta4.
The following is some of the patches needed for libao and vorbis-tools.

building under NetBSD and using /dev/audio
I am using NetBSD 1.5.1_ALPHA (i386). I have libao-0.6.0,
libvorbis-1.0beta4, libogg-1.0beta4 and vorbis-tools-1.0beta4.
My sound works. I am able to use a .ogg file by using ogg123 to create a
.wav file and playing it with splay. (splay uses /dev/audio.)
How can I modify ogg123 (or liba0) so I can use /dev/audio as the default
sound device?
Or maybe it would be better to add a new device (for

Mainline nonportability
Hi folks,
I'd like to remind people with write access on the CVS mainline not to put any
tools/libs/patches into the main build that are not portable... I'm getting
not-very-pretty flames from NetBSD folks because libao fails to *configure*
under NetBSD (let alone build), thus breaking building the build for the
entire CVS mainline.

compilation errors netbsd
hello again,
on NetBSD the library ossaudio needs to be linked in for speex to build. i
did it by hand in the src/Makefile by altering LDFLAGS to "-lossaudio". it
now compiles properly.
thanks for your time,

libao-0.8.5 patch
Hi!
There are some little inconvenience in libao-0.8.5.
- The biggest is may that:
the documentation and the header file declare the ao_file_extension function,
which give a hint for the file extension where the device is realy a sound
file. This function is missing.
-An other: the alsa 0.5 and the alsa 0.9+ drivers short name. It will be better
if the alsa 0.5's name will be alsa05 and the

configure.in fix (netbsd-current) for 2.1.0p3
thanks for great package. configure.in shipped with 2.1.0p3 includes
too few header files for detecting struct sockaddr_in6 and in6_addr,
and the build will fail on netbsd-current (1.4Z). here's a
tiny patch to make the build successful.

libao patch
I hope this is the right place to submit libao patches -- the
freshmeat page points to ogg vorbis as the homepage for libao.
Currently, at least on my system (SB Live Value!, ALSA .9 branch),
stuff going to alsa sounds *awful* because of too-small buffers.
mpg321 and similar programs are unusable, and none of them seem to
want to let you set the buffer size. This patch lets an environment

Request to upgrade cvs in FreeBSD [New stable cvs release fixing new vulnerability?]
Greetings, Peter and the Security Officers team,
There is a minor security vulnerability in cvs prior 1.11.10, as described

2.9: remote port forwarding doesn't work
Hello,
I'm running OpenBSD 2.9 (-rOPENBSD_2_9) on i386. Remote port forwarding
doesn't work. Attached are 2 logs of

use libcrypt before libcrypto
these days many unix-based systems contain crypt() with more than
DES support (for instance, MD5 in freebsd/openbsd/netbsd, bcrypt in
openbsd/netbsd). we need to use crypt() in libcrypt, not in licrypto,
as much as possible.

ao: Sun audio plug-in
Here's the promised Sun audio system plug-in.
I have tested this on OpenBSD. It should work without changes on
NetBSD, too. Jeremy, could you please verify this?
After a few minor tweaks it now also compiles on Solaris 2.7.
Alas, I can't verify whether it actually plays anything there.
I guess this could also with little effort be made to work on
SunOS4.

building under NetBSD
I am successfully able to build today's theora_cvs_snapshot under
NetBSD/i386 1.6 with SDL disabled. (I haven't tested yet.)
I was unable to build with SDL:
player_example.c:52: sys/soundcard.h: No such file or directory
I see the source says it is OSS-specific for now.
This is what I did to make it build:
