Broken mail list web archive
Hi! The page http://www.xiph.org/archives/vorbis/masterindex.html links to http://www.xiph.org/archives/vorbis/date.html , whic gives a 404 error ( not found ). Just like last time ( begin of november ), when I reported it just like now. And I was ignored, just like now (?). -- David Balazic -------------- "Be excellent to each other." - Bill S. Ogg Vorbis questions
Hi, I'm currently working on a paper describing Ogg Vorbis. It is not finished yet. Mostly the decoder is being described. If you have any comments, please send them to me. See: http://www.turbocat.net/~hselasky/math/vorbis/files/ Then I have a question about the function "bark_noise_hybridmp()" which is used in the encoder. Can someone describe what the function does in

Possibility of Incorporating a psychoacoustic model in CELT
Good Morning; Iam asking whether any one have knowledge about is it possiple to incorporate a psycoacoustic model?(specifically?I mean ?MPEG-1 psychoacoustic model 1) into the CELT codec(any version even older versions of the coder,?no matter) Iam using version 0.3.2. Sample still has horrorible distortions... anyone know why?
Hi, I am subscribed to this list, and have learned a lot just from the discussions i see although i don't reply to the msgs, simply coz i'm no big deal programmer. I feel, though, that as i'm really optimistic about vorbis and want it to grow and start to have more and more people using it, i feel that i should warn you about a bug the encoder have (i'm sure monty receives loads

oggenc (small files)
I've had this problem encoding oggs where the output file is small, like 24kbytes for a 4 minute song (tested at 128 and 160kbit). I'm running Windows 2000 and this has happened in oggenc, oggdrop, and CDEX, though I've also been able to get good encodings with each of these. I think the only clean encodings have been .wav's that I've made myself with SoundForge or CoolEdit,

encoder block diagram
I've made a block diagram of the encoder because I tried to find out, how it works http://stoffke.freeshell.65535.net/ogg/block.html Although there are specifiation docs, that give very detailed information about single aspects of the encoding (or decoding) , I'm missing documenations that give a more general overview, about how the encoder works. pcspkr wave encoding
Hi, there is an interesting case when the FLAC encoder (using 1.2.0) is given simple waves. Simple waves means: I have a list of {frequency, duration, pause} tuples that define the monophonic tune. In other words, exactly one frequency is played at a time. This is the original dataset from 1989 (driving a PC speaker back then): $ ls -l ihold.sd -rw-r--r-- 1 jengelh users 20616 Aug 14 00:57

Mail archive search is now up
There's now a list search on the xiph.org website for the vorbis and vorbis-dev mailing lists. The search can be found on each list's master monthly index (eg, http://www.xiph.org/archives/vorbis/masterindex.html) It's a Perl CGI on an underpowered box, so no bitching about speed :-) Monty --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project homepage:

Cycle Regression Analysis in R?
Hello R community, Does anyone know of a package that will perform cycle regression analysis? I have searched the R-help archives etc. but have come up with nothing so far. If I am unable to find an existing R package to do so, is there anyone familiar with fitting sine functions to data. My problem is this: I have a long time-series of daily SWE estimates (SWE = snow water equivalence, or

Lossy Audio Compression Research
Hello everyone, I'm a student at the Universtiy of Delaware, and will be soon starting some research on the effects of lossy audio compression on speech sounds. I will be preforming test with both mp3 and vorbis. First of all, if I use the '--ogg' switch to lame, does lame use GPSYCHO to encode the wave, or some other psychoacoustic model (perhaps one designed for

Write pure sine to *.ogg directly?
Hello, I am author of a Morse code training software written in Perl at http://starling.ws/morse Currently I output to *.wav and, if on Unix, convert to *.ogg. And that's okay for a trainer. But I have desire to upgrade the project to a real-time communication tool...or at least a Morse code audio mail routine. And I should like to avoid *.wav. I'd like some means of writing a pure

Fitting a sine wave using solver
Greetings, I have several sets of oscillation data and would like to estimate the parameters of a sine function to each set (and hopefully automate this). A colleague provided an excel sheet that uses solver to minimize the RSS after fitting the sine function to each data set, but this cumbersome and difficult to automate. Is there a method in R for fitting a given sine function to a
