Winamp plugin compile problems and fix/docs
The winamp plugin would not compile. I am using the Cygnus environment (gcc, and a lot of other GNU utils) on Windows NT. _beginthread() is not found. That doesn't look like a function application code should ever call directly. I converted it to use CreateThread and it compiles and works. Change this: thread_handle = (HANDLE)_beginthread(DecodeThread,0, (void *)(&killDecod eThread)

Readline & readline-devel installation on RH9
I have a new user question. Sorry I know most of you are Linux experts I am not! I am just getting my feet wet with this. And I am sorry to ask this stupid question. I was following an installation post from Wiki that said when using RH 9 you need to make sure that you have the following installed first and you should check them with the following command. Are there any other items I need to

Puppet doesnt run
Hi guys, Apologies if this is covered elsewhere. I''ve had a hunt through Google, Redline, and the FAQs but dont see it. Puppet 0.24.8 (and 24.7 on teh same box) starts up fine, but then just sits there, regardless of what I set runinterval to be. Puppet Server debug output stops at: debug: Creating default schedules debug:

Live webcam stream with Theora
Hey all, I've setup a simple page that just displays a live webcam stream of me at work, and it supposedly falls back onto Cortado if your browser doesn't support the <video> tag. The URL is here: http://media.basilgohar.com/stream/ There's been a lot of talk about live streaming and low bitrate streams. Here is my command line (I've posted this before): time ffmpeg -f

example_encoder.c patch to read successfully from FIFOs
Hello, Some years back I tried to use example_encoder.c with mkfifo FIFO buffers to encode content as it was being decoded by mplayer. This deadlocks, because to do this you need two FIFOs (one for decompressed audio and one for video) that mplayer alternates writing output to, and that encoder_example similarly alternates reading chunks of audio and video input from. The trouble is, mplayer

Xapian .lemony files
Hi All, I wanted to add a small tweak to my installation of the Query Parser. Should I be editing queryparser.lemony? I tried that and the make didn't include my change. I applied the same change to queryparser_internal.cc and it worked fine. Is the .lemony file something used internally and I can ignore? Or do I need to run something prior to make to convert the files? Thanks, Mike Boone.

If no, why ? 2) There're few problems to buils the RPMS from the CVS : libao.spev : incorrect version : '%define version 0.5.0' should be '%define version

Security disclosure process discussion update
After concluding our poll [1] about changes to the security discussion, we determined that "Pre-disclosure to software vendors and a wide set of users" was probably the best fit for the community. A set of concrete changes to the policy have now been discussed on xen-devel [2] [3], and we seem to have converged on something everyone finds acceptable. We are now presenting these changes

[?] About YUV formats...
Hello. I'm a theora newbie... I see it accept video frames in some differents YUV formats. How theora manage them internally? I mean: if i encode the same video twice, first time encoding it with YUV444 packets and then with YUV420, will second video be smaller than first (due to subsampling...)? Or theora compress them in the same way? Thanks in advance, A. F.

docs URL
Hi. I've put up some docs related to my first encounter with the vorbis source code at http://surf.chimie.uqam.ca/~kruus/vorbis/encoder/index.html It documents a newbie's first look and [serious] attempts to trace through examples/example_encoder.c . Don't laugh too hard! Even though the docs are quite un-doc-like, I've stopped working on them indefinitely, since Monty

matrix help (first occurrence of variable in column)
Dear R help, Apologies for the less than informative subject line. I will do my best to describe my problem. Consider the following matrix: mdat <- matrix(c(1,0,1,1,1,0), nrow = 2, ncol=3, byrow=TRUE, dimnames = list(c("T1", "T2"), c("sp.1", "sp.2", "sp.3"))) mdat In my actual data I have time

A/V sync. problems with NTSC DVD source
Hi, I decided to try Theora and encoded a PAL DVD. I was very pleased with the result. It's better than "DiVX" for the same bitrate, I think, and the audio is clearly superior to MP3 audio. However, I'm having serious troubles encoding NTSC DVDs and getting the video and audio durations to match. I read some messages on this list about such problems and so what I am doing

mirrors still catching up and -01.iso images?
I'm watching a couple of mirrors catch up with the 7.1 release and am noticing some churn on the .iso images. It appears that new -01.iso versions are coming downstream while some of the mirrors apparently were getting different .iso images. The -01.iso versions look to be significantly larger than the previous non-01.iso versions (the -Minimal .iso appears to have gone from 560M to 630M for

Anybody using SCGI in production?
Or does anybody prefer fastcgi/fcgi? I''m using webrick for development, but plan on using scgi when I switch to production (because it appears to be an update to fastcgi, and I couldn''t get fastcgi working anyhow). thanks csn __________________________________ Yahoo!
