Lossless video codec
I know this probably transcends the scope of the current aims of Ogg
video, but one thing I'd consider extremely useful is a lossless video
compressor. There are a few of them out there (e.g. PICVideo's lossless
wavelet codec) but I've found no free ones so far. The primary use would
be for storage of video clips that would be too cumbersome to store as raw
frames but still require

Should Join Discussion - Fwd: [whatwg] Give guidance about RFC 4281 codecs parameter
Hello,
You guys might want to join this discussion. (And maybe some others too.)
On the WhatWG mailing list, there's been a fury of e-mails about
adding a <video> element to HTML5. They're talking about codecs and
containers now. It might be helpful to have your representatives
there. And help shape things.
See ya

xmms module
Okay, here's my first hack attempt at an xmms module. I managed to link
(although not test) this with the current libvorbis CVS source (which
needed some "help" compiling) and xmms 0.9.5.1.
I'm guessing I made some fairly obvious mistakes in here which can be
hammered out even without bitstreams to test it on.

An handful of tags !
Another problem I would like to speack about : tags. Each format appears to
create its own tag.
TwinVQ and WMA tags are limited but Mp3 has a good tag system (although the
"genre" category could be improved). Now ogg develops a new kind of
tagging. I imagine converting all my tags with thousand of tracks... real
nightmare...
Is there an authority or a project to standardiza tags ?

Flac and lyrics
Both MPEG-4 File Format (mp4) and Matroska (mkv) have an interesting
format for lyrics and subtitles. Since these container formats can
contain multiple contain streams, lyrics or subtitles are just another
"stream" interleaved with the rest of the data. They are synchronized by
having timestamps like any other stream. The payload is just text data.

Codec Information
Hi,
I'm currently working on a project to create some order in the video
codec chaos and for the completeness of the information I've got a
couple of questions about the Theora codec. I realize I'm a bit early to
add the Theora information while it's still in Alpha stage but I figured
the base won't be changing anymore (atleast not a lot anyway).

Problem with rights in samba 4.9.0
good afternoon everyone,
I have a problem that I can not solve I have installed a samba 4.9.0 in centos 7.5 using XFS.
In the DPTO share I have the departmental folders, which I gave the rights to the groups.
The problem:
when a user creates a file within some sub-folders the group's rights do not arrive in the file is read-only.
When the user accesses a website and downloads

Rails on Mongrel
Hi,
After following advice from you good folks, I gave mongrel a try in a
cluster design based on the example on the Mongrel website - and it
worked right out of the box which is great - and it''s very fast :)
I have got a bit stuck though. I have two MS Word files in
/public/files/. I can pull back these files no problem but it isn''t
sending a mimetype.
I think I have two

Rails on lighttpd locks up, freezes, unresponsive every day
I have RoR running on lighttpd on RedHat Linux and every morning that I
check the web page it just keeps waiting to refresh it forever, Firefox
and IE never times out on any of the pages I try. Has anyone seen that
happening to their RoR? I also removed lighttpd completely and just ran
webrick but there was no difference. The linux box has a pretty old
kernel 2.4.21-4, could that be the

putting the video into ogg multimedia
With both vorbis and libmng nearing stable status, I've been thinking
about combining the two to make a real multimedia format. What would be
involved in embedding mng in an ogg bitstream? From what I've read of the
documentation, there doesn't seem to be any codec-enumeration system. Do
we just interleave the packets and let the player guess based on the
headers which codec to try? I

Problems with RJS w/ Lighttpd & Ubuntu
I have my code working on my local machine no problem, but when I upload
to the server the RJS effects I have aren''t working. The server is
running Ubuntu Dapper w/ lighttpd while on my local machine I''m using
webrick.
For kicks I shut down lightty and booted my app on the server with
webrick and it works fine. So it''s definitely a lightty issue.

Windows ACM codec status
What is the status of the vorbis ACM codec? I certainly hope I am not the
only one with a vested interest in its development and there's been no
talk of its status on the list lately.

Just looking for some information...
In vorbis_info, is int rate; the sampling rate of the data being output or
the bitrate of the encoded stream? If it is the sampling rate, is there
some way to get the bitrate? (or vice versa)
The only other thing I'm in need of is some way to determine (in seconds)
the length of a stream...

fixed point math
While vorbis works fine sending through the net PCM samples
from a Plan 9 machine (a 686) to a compaq Ipaq, it would be
great if it could work within the ipaq. I think that would
require fixed point math instead of using the FPU all the times.
the mp3 mad player seems to do just that.
Any plans to go along the same lines and provide a fixed point
decoder?
