lack of detail for exception in ov_open
I am having one frustrating time trying to decipher why ov_read is failing in my MFC/C++ application, and I see in Google results that others have had difficulty as well. These google discussions generally involve libraries, dll's and linking options, as though there are perhaps some basic incompatibilities between ogg vorbis and win32 and/or MFC/C++. Very confusing. If I pass fopen a

Introducing ov_open_callbacksp and ov_clearp
Hello, I've been looking to the libvorbisfile and got into troubles when trying to use it: I need to compile it on a PalmOS and the libvorbisfile must be compiled in ARM whereas calling code is in 68K. This implies that the interface ov_open_callback is not usable because the OggVorbis_File *vf must point to something in the target architecture (ARM) whereas the caller cannot do that. As

Problems with vorbisfile and files smaller than CHUNKSIZE
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi, I'm writing a simple application to decompress a set of Ogg files to raw PCM format, using vorbisfile, because that is the simplest way of doing it. These Ogg files are sounds for a game, and thus sometimes very short (about .25 s). However, vorbisfile has severe problems with Ogg files that are smaller than the CHUNKSIZE which is #defined

Having problems with ov_read
Ok here is the breakdown. I am trying to impliment streaming into our game using openAL and ogg-vorbis. In the non-streaming function when I call ov_read on the file I should be streaming the buffer gets filled with the correct data. However, when I run ov_read on the same OggVorbis_File when I read the buffer gets filled with 0's. The buffer has not been zero'd and starts filled

Problem using 'ov_open()'...
OK, I've been developing a small class that I can use in virtually any application to load and decode OGG files. Everything works fine until it reaches the line with the call to ov_open, then the application freezes and has to be killed. This is a single-threaded Win32 app. Below is both the structure that gets passed around, and my entire OGG class. Maybe one of you can figure this out.

Ogg ouput using libvorbisfile
Hi, I'm new to writing any kind of sound program and somewhat new to C. I am on linux and I've been trying to get the example code (http://www.xiph.org/ogg/vorbis/doc/vorbisfile/example.html)for the decoder using libvorbisfile to work. I think my main problem is output to /dev/dsp. If I use the example where the only change I made were to open a file instead of using stdin and I ouput

small mistake in docs
Hi, in ov_read_float.html there is a small mistake: long ov_read(OggVorbis_File *vf, float ***pcm_channels, int *bitstream); hould read: long ov_read_float(OggVorbis_File *vf, float ***pcm_channels, int samples, int *bitstream); It seems this function has been changed (compared to the RC3). Anything else worked fine for me with the 1.0 release. Olaf <p>--- >8 ---- List archives:

Vorbis status
Hello folks, This is a ping to see what folks are up to and planning to work on in the near future. I'm mostly just curious.... Personal goals in the next week: Handle any incoming bugs on the vorbisfile API/library Hone the LPC approximation routines a bit more. Get the command line player functional (Mike Whitson is also planning to put some time in here). Verify that I understand the

vorbisfile.a
I've decided it's probably a good idea to wrap up the 'chaining_example.c' functionality into a library interface as the functionality inside is going to be commonly useful enough. It would be silly for everyone who wants to do trivial things to have to reproduce it unless they really want to. It's not going to be as 'carved in stone' as the libvorbis interface.

ov_clear segfaults?
Hi guys, I'm working doing the Java->JNI->OggVorbis thing. As a test to get me going, I've just written a quick routine that dumps info about the file test.ogg in the current directory. The problem arises when I call ov_clear. I get a segfault everytime. Note that I am *not* doing any decoding (ov_read) at all, just ov_comment and ov_info. Should I only call ov_clear if I have

Yet another vf question...
Should I ov_clear a failed ov_open/test/test_open call? The xmms plugin does an fclose on failure, and that seems to work, but I thought I ought to know for certain. (An observation: I think the quantity of questions and bugs raised along the lines of "I did open file, ov_open, ov_read, close file, open another file, ov_read, and it exploded", or "I tried to make vorbisfile go

ov_open fails on Version 1.0.1
Eddie, I have been reviewing vorbis list postings, because I have been spinning my wheels for a week, trying to make a simple insertion of ogg vorbis decoding (vorbisfile) in the audio class of my MFC/C++ program. I just read your thread from April 2004. Question: Do you have anything you could send me, since I assume you succeeded in getting results? And/or could you take a look at what I

How can I seek in Ogg Vorbis file, but not using Vorbisfile library?
Hello, All. I am making an Ogg Vorbis decoder based on Tremor. The Vorbisfile library provides a high-level API which enables us to seek in the file, but it needs to declare a pointer to OggVorbis_File structure. Because I am supposed not to use file, so I can't use the ov_pcm_seek() or ov_raw_seek() functions to seek in the file. For decoding an Ogg Vorbis file, I first put it in

xmms plugin
Anyone else hacked together an xmms plugin for Vorbis? I took my best shot at it based on the source and some of the info I've picked up off this list... I haven't really tested it yet, but I think with a little bit more hacking it might actually work. I can put the source up if anyone wants to dink around with it, but I'd rather just clean it up a little then perhaps ask xmms if

Application Crashes When Calling ov_time_seek() function
I’m running into a problem with my application crashing when I make a call to the ov_time_seek() function. The call includes the OggVorbis_File and it is indeed seekable, as I first check that using the ov_seekable() function. Everytime, however I try to seek forward, the application dies with a core dump. I’m working with the example from the “VorbisFile Documentation” site. The application

Why the two decoder formats?
decoder-example is a complex interaction of lots of Vorbis stuff. vorbisfile (OggVorbis_File) is much simpler. So why is the example code based on the complex stuff? I ask because I am trying to simplify ogg123, and add some features. Kenneth --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project homepage: http://www.xiph.org/ogg/

ov_clear(&vorbis) segfaults?
Hello all. I'm new to this list. I'm also new to coding with libvorbis and things, so please bear with me. :) I've been having trouble with libvorbisfile. My use of it is fairly simple, but when I try to ov_clear the vorbis file, it segfaults. I can attach or otherwise make availible some demo source code, but for now I'll just pull out relevant lines: //BEGIN PSEUDO CODE

xmms module
Okay, here's my first hack attempt at an xmms module. I managed to link (although not test) this with the current libvorbis CVS source (which needed some "help" compiling) and xmms 0.9.5.1. I'm guessing I made some fairly obvious mistakes in here which can be hammered out even without bitstreams to test it on. Tony Arcieri <HR NOSHADE> <UL> <LI>TEXT/x-csrc

[libvorbis] Bugfix: seek broken for large files and on pure 32 bit architectures
In file vorbisfile.c, function int ov_pcm_seek_page(OggVorbis_File *vf,ogg_int64_t pos) the calculation of the approximate seek point causes an overflow for very large files and on pure 32 bit architectures. /* take a (pretty decent) guess. */ bisect=begin + (target-begintime)*(end-begin)/(endtime-begintime) - CHUNKSIZE; The temporary expression (target-begintime)*(end-begin)

XMMS: busywaiting??
So, I'm seeing XMMS behave mighty strangely here. decode_example piped into a command line player manages to playback realtime on my p233 somewhat easily. XMMS (with the Vorbis plugin) utterly pegs the CPU and stutters badly. So, I started playing. Playing back mp3, xmms stutters badly (mp123 and xaudio play back realtime without difficulty). Playing back straight wav files, xmms also
