libvorbisfile dynamic linkage with pkg-config - inter-library dependencies?
Audacity is preparing to release version 2.0.6 shortly, so I have been
doing numerous test builds. Since the last Audacity release, my
development system (Gentoo Linux) has updated to libvorbis-1.3.4 and
libogg-1.3.1.
As a result (I think) of this, I now get link errors when
trying to compile Audacity against the system copies of libogg and
libvorbis (standard dynamic linkage to the system

Libvorbis documentation.
Greetings,
On the official documentation page,
http://www.xiph.org/ogg/vorbis/docs.html, there are links to the
documents describing the released libraries, ie. libvorbis, vorbisfile
and vorbisenc. However, the first one is not a link at all, although I
seem to remember that it was so earlier.
I also downloaded the SDK for Mac OSX, which sorta contains a
documentation for libvorbis, but

Finding length (time) of encoded birstream
I'm adding some final features to my CD Ripper and Encoder before the full,
version 1 release. As part of that release, the program will offer the
ability to play (for review purposes) both WAV and OGG files. I have both
the decoder and playback code working but I have one final issue to resolve:
finding the play time for the Vorbis bitstream that is being played back. I

libvorbis compile failure
The latest CVS update of libvorbis fails to compile on SuSE Linux 6.4. The
error is below.
Also, what happened to the xmms plugin directory in cvs? It complains that
it is missing when I do a 'cvs update'.

patch to support oggskeleton in libvorbis.
I have made a patch to support libvorbis to allow parsing a vorbis bitstream
in an ogg bitstream
containing additional bitstreams. The patch is attached in the given ticket
http://trac.xiph.org/ticket/925#preview
from my experiment it successfully decodes a normal vorbis file and a
vorbis+skeleton+cmml file.
thanks in advance for reviewing it.

new DLL additions in core libs
Chris, re the DLL additions:
In a word, *no*.
That much Win32 specific code does not belong in a lib that's pure
math and totally platform agnostic. It may be appropriate, assuming
it's necessary, to add this in the win32 specific SDKs, but it has no
business in the core libvorbis. Please move it out to a more
appropriate place as soon as you possibly can.
Secondly: I'd like to

Docs Missing
Hi All,
The "libvorbisenc api reference" (http://www.xiph.org/ogg/vorbis/doc/vorbisenc/reference.html) exists, but appears to be the libvorbisfile api reference. Is there anywhere where I can find the "libvorbisenc api reference"?
Cheers

Vorbis encoding using JavaScript
Hello,
First of all, I am a complete newblet to anything dealing with audio (a lot
of the vocabulary is still rather mysterious to me). I also don't often
program in C so please don't throw too many stones if my workflow is less
than ideal. :)
I would like to port the vorbis encoder to JavaScript. Instead of porting
everything by hand from ground up, which would take who-knows-how-long,

Are vorbis_blocks really independent?
I read some lines in libvorbis/include/vorbis/codec.h:
/* vorbis_block is a single block of data to be processed as part of
the analysis/synthesis stream; it belongs to a specific logical
bitstream, but is independant from other vorbis_blocks belonging to
that logical bitstream. *************************************************/
My question. Does this imply that vorbis_analysis

I'm trying to compile vorbis-tools with libvorbis-aotuvb5. The problem is that

I specified --with-vorbis-libraries and --with-vorbis-includes to the

Test files for decoder implementation
Hi,
I am trying to implement a Vorbis decoder in Java, and I have some
problems understanding the file-format specification included with
libvorbis. In the header description, there are a few obvious mistakes,
which I believe to have solved, but when I try to decode the audio
packets, the decoded floor and residue data doesn't seem to make
sense at all, and after a few packets, my decoder

chaining serial number
Hi,
The documentation at
http://www.xiph.org/ogg/vorbis/doc/oggstream.html
tates that "Each chained logical bitstream must have a unique
serial number within the scope of the physical bitstream"
Doesn't this mean that the sequential multiplexed streams have
same serial number? I am confused looking at the following code
