Dell Wireless WLAN Card Utility - mini-pci wireless card 1390
Is there any way I can find a driver and/or get the above wireless card working in CentOS 5 on my Dell laptop (Inspiron 1501). I've installed ipw2200 from RPMForge, but it now appears that this won't work because the card is not an Intel PRO/Wireless card. Dell seem to support only MS Windows Vista now so I don't think there's much chance of getting a driver from them - so am I on

Wireless connection issue - athero 9300 pci wireless card
Hi all, I am new to CentOS. I built myself a desktop with an additional PCI wireless card 'TP-LInk WPN3800', which I have checked needs an ath9k driver. * **04:00.0 Network controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR9300 Wireless LAN adaptor* Following the wireless connection tutorial on CentOS wiki, I have both kernel-devel 2.6.6 and ath9k installed. Then I tried * $ modprobe ath9k

wireless question
I've had no luck with getting a wireless card to work. Before I go buy another card, I wanted to see if there is a way I could do this instead. I've got a second wireless router that I'm not using right now. So I would like to find out if there is a way I can make this work. I was thinking about connecting the second wireless router to my pc through the ethernet port, and let the

Wireless PCI card for Dekstops
Hi Everyone, Any recommendations for a wireless card for my desktop running CentOS? I found various posts for choosing wireless cards for laptops not for dekstops. Thanks. -- "I never look back darling, it distracts from the now", Edna Mode (The Incredibles)

OT: question on setting up an email server
Hi guys, I realize that this might be considered to be off topic, but the machine I want to use is running Cent OS. Ok, this is what I'm thinking about trying, and mainly just to see if I can do it. I've got a total of 3 linux machines here, and I was thinking about setting one of them up as an email server. Now, I'm not talking about setting the machine up so that all I

Cent OS 6 freezing up
I've been out of pocket for a while, so don't shoot me, if this has already been brought up. I'm having a problem with my desktop freezing up, and I'm running Cent OS 6. It seems to happen while I'm running firefox. I'm not sure if it's firefox, or the OS that's locking up. When it freezes up, nothing will respond, so I'm inclined to think it's the OS

secure boot.
I've been reading up some about the new "secure boot" that's coming out on new machines when MS releases Win 8. Has a workaround been developed yet for those of us who don't want to run windows? Typically, I mostly build my own desktops, and I install cent os right from the start, but sometimes I do buy a desktop, and naturally it comes with windows on it, so I have to do a

Wireless Made Easy (for Home Desktops)
For those of you who use a wireless router and may work on one or two (or even several) machines in your computer room, an AP Client is a nice solution. When you move to another machine you can just move the wireless net adapter to the new machine and you're up and running on the network immediately. I've been using a D-Link G730AP for a while -- but it's not really made for this --

Problem in Wireless Card Setup in Dell Precision M90
Hello Friends, This is my first post on CentOS mailing list. I am using CentOS since last 3 years and using Linux since 2003. I am Java Based ERP(http://ofbiz.apache.org/) developer and I truly appreciate the stability of CentOS as the Desktop machine for the developers. In the early 2003 I was using CentOS 4 then I moved to CentOS 5 stable release then before 1.5 month I installed CentOS 5.2

Strange: wireless card shouldn't work, but it works ?!?
Hi, I know this is a rather unusual request. Normally, people would complain about a card that *should* work, but here goes. I have a series of machines in a computer room, all equipped with a RT2561 wireless card. CentOS doesn't include support for that card, so what I usually do to install a system: 1) Install a *very* minimal base system (the bare minimum). 2) Install some

Configuring an Intel 3945 wireless card: partial success
Hi, My wife has a new ASUS laptop with an Intel 3945 wireless card. I'm running CentOS 5 on all our desktops here (at work and at home), and I'm quite happy with it. I had a partial success in configuring the wireless card. Basically I'm using [base], [updates], [extra] and [rpmforge] repos, configured with the yum-priorities plugin. Priority 10 for RPMForge, 1 for the others.

CentOS 5.3 - Activating laptop wireless card
I've just installed CentOS 5.3 on my Dell laptop and it seems to have detected and set-up my wireless card (BCM 4311) correctly as eth1. However, so far I haven't been able to activate it and have read the wiki http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Laptops/Wireless#head-320d6fcf09b7e16e0b15d19ef76adcb023a95938 which indicates that this card isn't actually supported in CentOS - but there has

OT Problem seeing slave drives.
This isn't specifically about cent os, but I am running cent os on this machine. I've got a Dell Dimension 2400 desktop pc. I've tried on a number of occasions to put a second hard drive in the machine, but I can't get the machine to recognize the second drive in BIOS. I'm going to try and keep this short and sweet. I've tried all that I know to try. I've set the
