Encoding in Delphi - Help
Hi!
I've made a vorbis encoder in delphi, but it's very verey slow!
It takes 5 minutes to encode a pcm file.
And i don't know why. Could anyone help me???

encode, decode and encode again
(I've already posted this message month ago, but nobody answered, may be
it was not delivered to newsgroup?)
Hello, All.
I wrote an encoder-decoder based on example from OGG-Vorbis SDK.
This encoder can encode a large amount of small WAV-files with equal
parameters into one sound archive.
Then I decode this sound archive back into large amount of small
WAV-files.
Theese files are

contstant bittrate mode - block size - packet size
Hello,
I am trying to implement a realtime encoding then streaming solution using
the vorbis codec (would be wrapped in a "7F" type for minimal framing
overhead) for sending audio over a low bit rate wireless link.
since we need a constant bittrate (i.e. constant packet size) for this
solution we want to run the alg in constant bitrate mode;
for evaluation of the codec I followed the

What exactly is threadsafe
Hey I am playing with a LOT of threads right now, and I want to know if the
threads all need their own little vorbis encoders running in them or what
exactly is threadsafe in vorbis?
So here are the functions that would be called from many threads of with
buffer = vorbis_analysis_buffer( &m_vorbisDsp, 4*DATA_CHUNK_SIZE );
vorbis_analysis_wrote( &m_vorbisDsp, dataLength/dataSize );

encode example
Hi,
I am testing the encoder example and I have a question about it... How can I encode a mono file in 22050 and 44100?
I've changed the init values to:
ret=vorbis_encode_init_vbr(&vi,1,22050,.5) ;
and in the loop:
// uninterleave samples
for(i=0;i<bytes/2;i++)
{
buffer[0][i]=((readbuffer[i*2+1]<<8)|(0x00ff&(int)readbuffer[i*2]))/32768.f;
}

encoding question
Hi there,
I've a little question abound programming an ogg-vorbis encoder.
The encode_example.c works ok for files with 44100/2/16 - but not for other
formats.
I don"t really understand what this piece of code is really doing:
/* uninterleave samples */
for(i=0;i<bytes/4;i++){
buffer[0][i]=((readbuffer[i*4+1]<<8)|

metadata switches for ffmpeg2theora
Jan,
Here's a hacky patch to add a few commandline options for setting
comment header fields in ffmpeg2theora. It's a bit big because I
virtualized the global info struct in theorautils.c. In retrospect
that probably wasn't necessary, but I think it's cleaner anyway.
I didn't test it because I couldn't compile ffmpeg2theora, but
modulo bugs it should support

Wav to Ogg Vorbis conversion
Dear experts,
I am trying to use an example I found here:
http://svn.xiph.org/trunk/vorbis/examples/encoder_example.c
Could you please tell me what float** buffer is needed for (I don't see
it used anywhere).
Also, could you please tell me what this code is doing:
for(i=0;i<bytes/4;i++){
buffer[0][i]=((readbuffer[i*4+1]<<8)|

Skipping of sample in ogg writing
Hi All,
I m having a strange problem with the Ogg-Vorbis writting code. The code
I m using to write is skipping some samples at the end of the file. For
example I m converting the 10000 sample .wav file ( 441000 sample rate ,
16 bit depth , stereo ) to ogg format. But while reading the ogg file I
only find 5824 samples in the ogg file. Can any one suggest what could
be wrong in the code. Is

Encoding into MONO (delphi)
Hi!
I have a problem. I hope, you can help me.
I use a Delphi conversion (from Aleksandr Shamray),
but it doesn't work when I'd like to convert a *.RAW into a
mono *.ogg file.
vorbis_encode_init_vbr(vi, 1, 44100, 0.5); //because of the mono
the program stops at line:

encoding from 22050Hz source
Hi!
I'd like to encode from a 22050 Hz source wav file (only in that case),
but i get the following error message: "Invalid floating point operation"
I use delphi:
vorbis_encode_init_vbr(vi,2,22050,0.5)

While (i < readCount div 4) Do
Begin
buffer[0][i] := smallInt((pArray(@readbuffer)[i shl 2 + 1] shl 8) or pArray(@readbuffer)[i shl 2 + 0]) / 32768;

vorbis_encode_init() bitrate arguments - offtopic

Thanks for the tip. I added the calls, and it works now.

Encoding questions
Hi,
I have recently implemented encoding/decoding to/from OggVorbis in my app,
with the code being based upon the Libvorbisenc sample code supplied with
the SDK.
It all works very well indeed (encoding from a PCM file, then playback),
except that no matter the length of the source PCM file, the last (approx) 4
seconds of audio is always missing from the Ogg file.
I am trying to find some

Writting 16-bit PCM data to Ogg.
Hi Developers,
I have a 16-bit PCM data buffer, I want to write that to ogg file. Could
you help me to understand how to write pcm data to the ogg?
Thanks in advance.

vorbis_encode_init() bitrate arguments - offtopic
Hi,
It's a bit offtopic for this list, but you might be able to help. For
libvorbis rc3, what is the correct bitrate parametrization for the call
vorbis_encode_init()?
For rc2, it worked calling it the following way:
vorbis_encode_init( &vorbisInfo,
2, // two channels
44100, // 44.1kHz

new vorbisenc behaviour
Just got around to compiling RC3 under beos and came across an
anomaly when using managed bitrates.
I haven't changed the code for the beos encoder but I now get double
the bitrates so
vorbis_encode_init(&vi,mediaFormat.u.raw_audio.channel_count,(long)mediaFormat.u.raw_audio.frame_rate , -1, 128000, -1);
now gives me vorbis files that average around 325 - 350.
Is this now the correct

Questions about libvorbisenc
Hi all,
I am just coming in the mailing list.... ;-)
I'm working on an Ripper/Encoder for GNUstep.
At first sight, libvorbisogg seems to be the library that I needed.
The problem for me is documentation.
So I have a few question about this library :
- in order to init an encoding process, we need to provide channels. Well,
what does is mean ?
- in order to init an encoding process, we need

Simple encodig sample...
Hi all.
I'm Mat & I'm new :)
I'm testing libtheora + libogg perhaps for a commercial product.
I started watching encoder_example.c ... I simplified it for testing
it easier.
It seems ok to me but I have no experience with theora so I would like
to know if my code is correct.
I tried to debug it with Valgrind and I found 4 possible memory leaks...
but I think they can be
