How do you keep oggenc open long enough to even USE it?!?!?!?!?! Whenever I tell the computer to open the file, it says [Process Completed] and [logout]. What is going on?

Windows Encoder
Hi at Vorbis I've downloaded the following: a.. Windows 32/64-bit Installer: opencodecs_0.85.17777.exe 2,53MB, containing 30 files. Could you tell me which one do you click on to start the encoder? Which encoder ver to use?
Hello, I'm seeking advice here as I'm intend in the not to distant future to start encoding my CD collection, and I'm not sure what to use. Do I use the still current v1.0, or am I better off using a newer build? Also, I've started to notice mention of versions 1.0.1 and 1.1 in these mailing lists. Are these worth holding out for? I'll probably encode at about Q7, and am using

How to choose quality
Hi I made a CD-backup with cdparanoia | oggenc and I tried to use different values of -q listening to the effect by cdparanoia | oggenc -o - | mplayer -. The best quality was 8 -- why? PlusV algorithm
Important (imho)! I found this site in the internet: http://www.plusv.org/ PlusV is an audio enhancement algorithm similar to SRB of Mp3Pro, but 1) better than SBR 2) Fully open-source It seems to me wise to include PlusV into new versions of Ogg Vorbis. P.S. what about some long-awaited features in Ogg Vorbis? 1) ability to turn off the frequency filter in the encoder (especially for high

Different average bitrates on different machines
I am using OggEnc v0.8 (libvorbis rc2) (win32 cli) I have access to two machines Pentium 3 450mhz, 192mb, Windows 2000 (SP2) Athlon 1400mhz, 256mb, Windows 2000 (SP2) When I encode the same wave file on each machine at the same nominal bitrate (96kbps), I get output files with different average bitrates. 107kbps on the Athlon, as opposed to 84kbps on the Pentium 3. I think vorbis codec group have a new target
I compared quicktime aac and vorbis,i think quicktime aac is better than vorbis at 80Kbps. please tell me if i'm wrong. using command: qtaacenc.exe --tvbr 31 --highest --samplerate keep test.wav qt.m4a oggenc2.exe --raw -q 1.6 test.wav -o vorbis.ogg the version: qtaacenc version 20100725 with QuickTime 7.6.7 OggEnc v2.87 (libvorbis 1.3.1) links:

batch encode broken oggenc rc3
...even worse, it *appears* to work, and produces crap files. When specifying a -b <foo> option for a batch encode, -b <foo> is only obeyed for the first file. All subsequent files encode with the equivalent of -b 0 (despite the chatty text output claiming otherwise) resulting in overly low bitrates that sound like shit. I don't know if this affects -q as well, but it a safe

Help!!!
Hi! I heard many things over ogg, but all what i can see is shit. O.K. The oggdrop.exe play with me, have this tool a version number? I can't see it. Every other tool don't run under my system (Win98; Athlon1,5GHz; 768MB RAM). For example every version of oggenc produce the error: "OGGENC.EXE kann nicht ausgef?hrt werden"! constant low-bitrate for streaming test
dear vorbis developers, it would be very useful, if oggenc would support constant low-bandwith bitrates for testing. something from 20kbps to 44kbps, so anyone could test streaming over modem and isdn. audio quality doesn't matter. mörk --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project homepage: http://www.xiph.org/ogg/ To unsubscribe from this list, send a message to

ultra-low bitrate stream?
I am writing a long-run sound recording application using OggVorbis. The user can adjust sound quality parameter to make balance between storage space and sound quality. The input sound is 22050Hz, mono. To maximize the recording capability on a given storage volume, we want the result bitrate as low as possible. I use -q0 parameter and it produces a 32.0kbps stream. It is too high (our

vorbis quality - quality scale vs bitrate
Hi there, I'm using libvorbis in my program and need to encode to target bitrate. I know libvorbis prefer to use quality scale but I can't use it. I've found something at faq http://vorbis.com/faq/#quality *For now, quality 0 is roughly equivalent to 64kbps average, 5 is roughly 160kbps, and 10 gives about 400kbps. Most people seeking very-near-CD-quality audio encode at a quality

Quality setting Hard Min/Max Bitrate limits in SVN oggenc
This is probably addressed to Michael Smith :) I have been playing with the latest oggenc and full libs from the SVN attempting to get the hard min/max limits to work with the quality settings. The way it is currently set in encode.c does not appear to work; ie., the result is the same with or without the hard limits set. However, if I amend the code such that management is NOT turned off if

why iriver's ifp series with limitation on ogg/vorbis support
Hi all, I buy a iriver's ifp-880 portable player, it only can play ogg file with bitrate 96kbps-325kbps. I know that the higher bitrate of file, the more cpu cycles to comsume in most case. For beyond 325kbps,I guess the chip (pnx0101) can't realtimely decode. But for ogg file below 96kbps, the cpu performance maybe isn't the bottleneck, and I suspect because of the limitation of

This works: low bitrate encoding
Hey everyone, Here's one way to get .ogg files down to about ~20kbps, and it's not too hard: 1. Use sox to resample the files down to 11025khz mono. 2. Feed these to OGGLAME (Lame 3.84 Alpha 1 is what I had laying around on my hard drive). OGGENC demands that the files be 44.1khz, but this version of ogglame didn't seem to care what the sample rate was. I'm sure the quality

archive of legacy oggenc/oggenc2 encoders for windows?
Hi, I was wondering if there's anywhere I could find an archive with all of the previously released ogg encoders, specifically windows binaries. I know I could rebuild every version from source, but it would be a lot easier if I could just grab the executables. Thanks.
