Libvorbis suggestion & floating point exception
Hello,
I'm not quite sure if this is the right list for my questions, please excuse
if it isn't.
1. While using vorbislib (Win2K/Borland C++ Builder 5), I'm getting
reproducible floating point exceptions at lots of sample rate/bit rate
combinations. For example, the original encoder_example.c, with just the
initialization line changed to

divide by zero and CVS version stability
Hello everyone,
I recently stumbled upon an issue in the encoder of the v1.0 SDK. At the end
of each encoding session a divide by zero (D=0) happens in
bark_noise_hybridmp (psy.c:642). This causes a crash on Win9x systems (WinNT
seems to handle this fine by using infinite as the result). My encoding code
is almost identical to the encoder_example, so I'm reasonably sure that this

new 1.3.7 and fix for CVE-2018-10392 (issue 2335)?
Hi Ralph,
Again, thanks so much for doing all this! Plus thanks to all the folks who contributed to the new release!
Quick clarifying question -- Isn't CVE-2018-10392 (looks like it’s fixed in https://gitlab.xiph.org/xiph/vorbis/-/issues/2335) also included in new version 1.3.7? If so can you please add it to release notes?

Tabs in PDF documents
Colleagues,
I am using R 2.5.1 on an Intel Mac (OS 10) to create PDF outputs
using pdf(); same problem exists in Linux (RedHat 9)
While adding text to the document with text() and mtext(), I
encounter the following problem:
In order to align the text, I have embedded tabs ("\t") in some of
the text. Each time I do so, I get the following error messages:

Ogg Vorbis questions
Hi,
I'm currently working on a paper describing Ogg Vorbis. It is not finished
yet. Mostly the decoder is being described. If you have any comments, please
send them to me. See:
http://www.turbocat.net/~hselasky/math/vorbis/files/
Then I have a question about the function "bark_noise_hybridmp()" which is
used in the encoder. Can someone describe what the function does in

Problems compiling Mac Libs
Hey guys,
I just downloaded the latest beta 4 libraries and compiled using the
included Mac project files on Codewarrior 5.3. Everything compiled clean
except for a link error (multiple definition) on the vorbislib itself. I
suppressed the error, and got my newly compiled lib.
I then built the sample encoder and included the libs. I tried to encode a
file and BOOM! Frozen Mac!
So then I

AGX Asterisk Addon - Can't find app_fax.c withspandsp-0.0.4
You now need to compile and install SpanDSP-0.0.6pre3 at least (AGX has been changed).
After you've done that - try AGX again.

oggenc rc3 fails on this one
OggEnc rc3 has trouble with this file. It adds high frequency gunk
to the percussive synth part. Lame encodes it fine.

libvorbis configure script fails on Irix
Hello,
I'm trying to compile libogg, libvorbis, libao, and vorbis-tools on an
SGI Octane running Irix6.5.22. libogg configures and compiles without
a problem. I installed it in usr/local/lib.
When I moved on to libvorbis trouble began. The configure script made
the following complaint:

Hello !!
While reading I am facing lot of problems . Doing reserve enginnering
without any document is
really putting in trouble . ( that is not the case in ac3 , mp3 ) .
The problems are ---->
1. How physcoacoustic model is generated . I was reading noise masking .
I have understood that FFT of 2048 samples is used for finding tone
masking .
And MDCT of same samples is used for

FAQ submission: quality vs. bitrate
I would like to see the following information added to the FAQ at
vorbis.com, appended to the "Audio Quality" section. "Uiver," "boa,"
and "jonI" from OPN's #Vorbis channel contributed and reviewed it.
"What does the 'quality' setting mean?"
Beginning with vorbislib 1.0-rc3, audio quality is no longer measured

can we help with libvorbis release for CVE fixes?
Hi Ralph,
Thank you for your reply!
For context -- we consider reported CVEs as bugs even if it's in a third-party library we use (such as libvorbis). We first determine if the CVE is something that would impact our customer workflows. In this case because of our use of libvorbis for audio I/O, it does impact our customers so we need to resolve the CVE as soon as possible.
In the

and are you sure, that the

can we help with libvorbis release for CVE fixes?
Ok,
I wasn't able to track down the original steps to reproduce this
issue,s but we believe CVE-2018-10393 is a dupiicate of CVE-2017-14160,
both fixed by commit 018ca26dece6.
Because of the confusion, I added additional bounds checks to
the bark_noise_hybridmp function, which make it clear to local analysis
that no for bugs in this class are possible. This change is in
commit a9eb99a5bd6f.

AW: AW: Reading OGG embedded in a pack file
yes, you are right. i always search for quick and easy solution and
forget in the meantime that vorbis is a low level codec library. so
probably a wrapper lib is the right way. but as far as i understand
vorbisfile is already a bunch of convenience functions? so to speak a
wrapper lib ? so why not enhance a little bit vorbisfile ?
and - i did not felt personally attacked. i just wanted to note

vorbize and os_type patches + general build issues
Howdy..
I've got a couple little patches here.
1. vorbis-tools needs getopt. Since it's already sitting in the
source tree for cmdline I set up cmdline to make a getopt.a that gets
used for both. Also, since mp3tovorbis is a shell script, it needs to
be installed 755 not 711 (unless I'm missing something).
2. I've found that both tru64 and irix 5.3 won't give int64_t

automake 1.6 compatability patch
This patch cleans up the vorbis-tools Makefile.am files so they work with both
automake 1.4 and 1.6. Some changes to configure.in were also needed in order
to get things to work (and to fix some ac 2.50 issues).
Please remove config.h from cvs as it is a generated file and empty anyway.
automake 1.6 isn't really incompatable with 1.4, it's just more picky about
you sticking to the rules:

oggdec channel ordering bug
Hi.
I just noticed that oggdec channel reordering for WAV is bogus.
With irrelevant clutter removed, oggenc has the following code:
permute = {0,2,1,4,5,3} // oggenc/audio.c:401
for (j)
to_vorbis[j] = from_wav[permute[j]] // oggenc/audio.c:619
While oggdec has the following code:
permute = {0,2,1,5,3,4} // oggdec/oggdec.c:229
for (j)
