A possible use for multichannel ogg files!
Hi,
Has anyone thought about using the multichannel format as a way of
distributing "musician minus one" files?
Eh? I hear you ask. Ok. Basically these are multitrack files but you can
mute the solo track so you, the musician, can practice against the other
"players". You can buy CD's of this nature, but of course, the solo
instrument is on one channel and the others on

sound library
I'm collaborating with and electronic musician to experiment on the production of music from number sequences. As I'm an R user I started playing around with the sound library and I found it very useful. However there are several things I do not understand (I'm not an expert in acustic nor audio signal treatment).
The first thing I'd like to understand is: let s be a normalized

Configuration Error
Hello,
I am a newbie when it comes to Dovecot, and in following this (
http://workaround.org/articles/ispmail-etch/ ) document in setting these
things up, I have run into an error that I am not quite certain what to
do...
I am running Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon, and using 1.0.5 for Dovecot. The message I
am getting when I try to 'restart' Dovecot (using '/etc/init.d/dovecot
restart') is:

alias_method_chain vs. redefined method with super
I''m trying to fully understand the subtleties of using
alias_method_chain to refine method behavior versus redefining a method
and calling super. I have a simple data model (a music collection) that
I often use to evaluate web frameworks, and I''m trying to get it working
on Rails 1.2.0RC1.
Specifically, I have three classes which subclass a common Artist class:

How to copy encoded channels?
Hi,
Having worked on a 4 channel encode/decode system, which works just
fine (using 4 channel audio on SGI systems). I now would like to think
a little further about how 'n' channel encodes may be used for
network collaboration in music.
Let's imagine a 16 channel codec, and let's say we are working in a
simple stereo in/out environment (i.e. like most consumer devices

Playing with rgl: a Youtube video
I've just posted a demo made with the rgl package to Youtube, visible
here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=prdZWQD7L5c
For future reference, here are the steps I used:
1. Design a shape to be displayed, and then play with the animation
functions to make it change over time. Use play3d to do it live in R,
movie3d to write the individual frames of the movie to .png files.
2. Use the

Can Opus be used with a video-chat app?
Hi,
I am not a developer, but a musician. Can Opus be used in combination with any existing video-chat app to provide much better quality for the musical instrument sound transmission?
Many thanks,
Rustem

app_jack and calling with pc only
Hello everyone!
Sorry, if the whole task is silly, I'm new to this.
I have my newly installed asterisk (1.6.0-beta9) and my AVM Fritz a1 card. I
have a simple German isdn line and I have a microphone, headphones and a
running JACKd (JACK Aduio Connection Kit).
The question: Can I (mis)use my asterisk CLI interface to make and recieve
calls coming in/going out via the ISDN-card,

Customized M3u for Icecast. Are there additional switches on XML / M3u Ezstream to override MetaData Tags in Mp3 with alternate tags
Hello. I have been streaming IceCast for about three years now and have
run into a problem, which I hope this forum can resolve
We stream non copyright songs from independent musicians. When they
upload their music to our site, they
upload Mp3's of which some have entered the MetaData information in the
MP3. Problem, musicians dont always do this, leaving
the meta data very sparse.... When

[PATCH] xl: extend autoballoon xl.conf option with an "auto" option
From: David Vrabel <david.vrabel@citrix.com>
autoballoon=1 is not recommened if dom0_mem was used to reduce the
amount of dom0 memory. Instead of requiring users to change xl.conf
if they do this, extend the autoballoon option with a new choice:
"auto".
With autoballoon="auto", autoballooning will be disabled if dom0_mem
was used on the Xen command line.

Why deliver+usercheck? deliver+MTA?
Hi,
I successfully configured dovecot using virtual users (and LDAP/AD).
deliver is the LDA and verifies if the user exists (as recommended in
the WIKI).
However, the howtos in the Wiki say *nothing* about the case that the
recipients should be verified *before* receiving the messages (prevent
backscatter, ...). All configurations in the dovecot-Wiki (postfix and
exim) just accept the mails

Wine novice question
The windose application I am trying to run bombs with the following
error box.
unknown has generated errors and will be closed by Windows.
You will need to restart the program.
An error log is being created.
                        OK
I can't find the alleged "error log." Any ideas where it may be?
Thanks,
