Questions regarding OGG implementation on DSP
As to tremor fixed-point implementation, i got several questions, and hopefully some one can help me out. Thanks a lot! 1. For DSP chips with small and limited memory, how much memory do we really need for saving all codebooks before we start to decode audio packets? Can the bit-rate give us some clues? Is there some simple guidelines for this? 2. For CRC error protection, it seems to me that

Output signal of the Tremor Codec
Hi, I study electricity in the University of Applied Sciences of Western Switzerland and I just began my diploma work: an embedded Internet Radio Receiver. I want to use the Tremor Codec on a ARM7TDMI uc (Samsung S3C4510B). And I need to convert the decoded Vorbis signal in an I2S bus signal (clk, word-select, and data) with a CPLD (Xilinx SPARTAN II) It will be helpfull if someone can explain

regarding vorbis tool
hi, i am trying to load vorbis tool on to my arm board EDB9302 , till now i have cross compiled libao, libogg, libvorbis, flac, speex and vorbis tool. when i run the command line arm-linux-ogg123 with some sample ogg format file on my arm board it gave *"Could not load default driver and no driver specified in config file : Exiting"* , please help me to over come this error.

low-memory vorbis decoding
Hi all, Does anyone have any experience porting libvorbis to platforms with small total memory sizes? Specifically, I'm trying to figure out if it's feasible to run Ogg Vorbis decoding on one of the PlayStation 3's SPU's -- secondary processors with only 256kb of local memory. It looks like out of the box the memory footprint of libvorbis is roughly: ~130k code ~60k static

How can I seek in Ogg Vorbis file, but not using Vorbisfile library?
Hello, All. I am making an Ogg Vorbis decoder based on Tremor. The Vorbisfile library provides a high-level API which enables us to seek in the file, but it needs to declare a pointer to OggVorbis_File structure. Because I am supposed not to use file, so I can't use the ov_pcm_seek() or ov_raw_seek() functions to seek in the file. For decoding an Ogg Vorbis file, I first put it in

Vorbis decoder sample code
Hi, I'm a Pocket PC developer and have created a audio translator application on this platform. I currently make use of an MP3 decoder engine, but due to heavy licensing fees I'm thinking of switching over to a patent free format. Vorbis presents the best approach. I read that tremor decoder has been especially optimized for embedded devices. I'd like to make use of this and

Ogg files versus Ogg streams
Hi all, I'm very new to Ogg, and am learning about it in an attempt to stream it from a CF card through a microcontroller. This particular setup requires me to move parts of the file from the CF card to the microcontroller buffer, effectively making the file like a data stream. Also, should this question be directed at the Tremor group instead since that is the codec I'm using? It

Problems on TI DSP c6701
Hi all: I am a newbie to vorbis, and I want to develop vorbis decoder onto TI c6701 evm board. And I try the tremor code and libvorbis and the code from http://www.xiph.org/archives/tremor/200210/0001.html . But all of them stll work good in MSVC but terrible in c6701. I dont know wher the problem is??Problem of code or problem of memory allocation?? it decodes almost noise,.... When I

WATCOM compiled libraries
Hello, as usual for me with precompiled libraries, the ones of the vorbis- sdk didn't work for me in WATCOM/Win32, so i compiled them on my own (vorbis_static.lib / vorbisfile_static.lib - it was possible after some slight changes like slightly modifiyng the typedef types that Watcom didn't know) The libraries work fine so far (like getting the file info), but when calling ov_read

Re: Problem with Blackfin assembly optimizations -- bug in fixed_bfin.h / resampler saturation???
Hi, when I compile with FIXED_DEBUG enabled, I get an error -- both when make tries to build testenc.o and when I try to link my app against the speex lib: lorenz@panelmaker:~/Blackfin/tests/speex_loopthrough$ make bfin-uclinux-gcc -c -g -I/home/lorenz/include -o main.o main.c bfin-uclinux-gcc -gl -elf2flt -L/home/lorenz/lib -o speex_through main.o -lspeex_debug -lspeexdsp -lm

Re: Problem with Blackfin assembly optimizations -- bug in fixed_bfin.h / resampler saturation???
Hi Jean-Marc, after some problems with getting svn to work here I finally made it. Problem is, you write that I cannot use libspeex and libspeexdsp at the same time now -- because I use a "live" system (mic-in -> speex_enc -> speex_dec -> headphone out) and I can run the AD1836 audio codec on 48 kHz only, I cannot use my program now (because I use speex resampling...) So I

[libtremor] ov_read is reading past file size
I have a wav file which has been converted to an ogg file with libvorbis via ffmpeg. However I've tested a few files just to make sure. I run a standard while loop to using ov_read to pull all the data out of ogg file. Using 4096 as the size to read each call. Watching my debug logs it is reading 2048 bytes each call. When I load the wav file the data chunk for the pcm data is 167680

BARK implementation (or specification) error
Hi, In the course of some work which I describe below, I have found a very significant difference between the BARK function described in the Vorbis specification and its implementation in libvorbis. In the specificationhttp://xiph.org/vorbis/doc/Vorbis_I_spec.pdf bark(x) = 13.1arctan(.00074x) + 2.24arctan(.0000000185x**2 + .0001x) In the libvorbis code

Problem with Blackfin assembly optimizations -- bug in fixed_bfin.h / resampler saturation???
Jean-Marc, Frank, I have stumbled across a similar situation regarding optimization. I seem to have a similar setup as Frank does with a fixed 48khz in and out. The wideband mode and ultra-wideband modes are really what I?m looking for. I have a test application that reads audio, downsample to 16kHz (or 32kHz), speex encode, speex decode, upsample back to 48kHz, and playback. If I remove

Re: Problem with Blackfin assembly optimizations -- bug in fixed_bfin.h / resampler saturation???
Hi, I just started to examine the DIV32_16 function (Blackfin ASM version), and wondered why the return value of the function inside 'fixed_bfin.h' is of type 'spx_word16_t', but the local variable 'res' which is returned by this function is of type 'spx_word32_t'. Is this a trick of optimization or a bug? (Same question for PDIV32_16 and MAX16, too!) best
