SMB Multichannel not working?
Hi Jeremy,
Thank you for your time; Let me spend some time with Wireshark analyzing the packets and I will get back to you

SMB Multichannel not working?
Hello,
I, like many before me, am having an issue with SMB multichannel. I am running Samba v4.10.16 (package is provided by Amazon) on an Amazon Linux 2 EC2 instance. I am aware that SMB multichannel is an experimental feature until 4.15, but the documentation states it is supported so I would like to evaluate it.
We have had reports of performance degradation when certain workloads (heavy

SMB Multichannel use-cases
Hello,
I'd like to understand the use-cases to use SMB multichannel. Especially,
if the SMB client and Samba server are talking over the WAN.
When does one see an improvement in throughput with multichannel? For
instance, does copying multiple files result in parallel copying over
multiple connections over the same session?
Your inputs are appreciated.
Thanks,
Madhu

Multichannel, usage & players?
Hello to the list, and please forgive me if this has already been asked before.
(I am new here, you see)
The question is really simple:
Can I use FLAC to create multichannel files, ranging from 3-channel LCR, through Quad, 4.1 to 5.1 and possibly (later) above?
The projects details are essentially this:
DVD-Audio, containing MLP Lossless in stereo & surround/multichannel.

Multichannel echo cancellation
Dear all,
I have just implemented a gstreamer plugin for the Speex AEC,
but now I would like to extend it to a multichannel echo cancellation
I have been searching documentation about that but I could not find it
Where it is? If it doesn't exist? Could you add a short example showing
how do you think it should work?
or It's "just" necessary to:

multichannel?
Hi,
I was wondering if it would be possible to do multichannel encoding with
CELT.
From the documentation & the code I understand that CELT currently
encodes mono (1 channel) or stereo (2 channels).
I would like to use CELT in a multichannel setup, to encode (and stream)
n mono channels. Just n mono channels, not a layout like 5.1
With vorbis I can do this, but vorbis adds a lot of

Multichannel coding
Hi Jean-Marc,
It was discussed before, when multichannel streams are encoded; taken
multiple instances of the encoder where the input is not correlated. Is
there a way to pack the result of all channels again? Or maybe do
something more efficient in the first place on multichannel streams?

No increased throughput with SMB Multichannel and two NICs
Hello,
I'm running Samba 4.4.5 with enabled SMB Multichannel. The Linux server
has two 1GBit/s NICs and for testing purposes I've shared a tmpfs
mountpoint with 2GiB and ~2GiB large test-file.
My Windows 10 host has one dual-port 1GBit/s NIC, and if both interfaces
are enabled, Get-SmbMultichannelConnection lists active multichannel
connections to my Linux SMB server.
If I disable one

Does Ogg Vorbis support 5.1 surround?
Hello everyone!
Please bear with me, I am a complete audio-newbie, and I apologise if
I am asking a question that I should know.
As most of you all know, DVD's have 5.1 audio, and I want to preserve
that in my voribs files. So, to ask the question : Does it support
Surround sound?
Thank you very much!

[Question] Multichannel load-balancing algorithm
Hello,
I have a question about multichannel and the load-balancing algorithm.
What kind of algorithm is it? (Roud-robin, dynamic round-robin, ...)
What are the arguments the algorithm compute to load-balance the
network traffic on the interfaces?
I already know that if a 10Gb/s interface and a 1Gb/s interfaces are
in the multichannel connection the 1Gb/s one will be ignored until the
10Gb/s goes

multichannel streaming
Hallo!
We are searching for a streaming-server for a e-learning system at a
university and therefore and I wanted to ask some questions:
There is a database of recordings on the server, and only registered
users (students) are allowed to hear those.
So if a user wants to hear record A, then a stream should be opened
(maybe a new mount point ?) and only this user should be allowed to hear

A possible use for multichannel ogg files!
Hi,
Has anyone thought about using the multichannel format as a way of
distributing "musician minus one" files?
Eh? I hear you ask. Ok. Basically these are multitrack files but you can
mute the solo track so you, the musician, can practice against the other
"players". You can buy CD's of this nature, but of course, the solo
instrument is on one channel and the others on

Cannot enable multichannel
Hi!
I am trying to enable multi-channel when the NIC support RSS(Receive Side
Scaline) .
I use tcpdump and wireshark to record packet that send by smbclient and
windows 11 client.
There is no multi-channel phenomenon when using smbclient, but when using
the windows client, I observed that the samba server opened an extra port
to transmit data. I think this is the phenomenon of multi-channel

FLAC Test files
When you download the full source for FLAC and read the instructions,
you'll see that 'make test' will run the test suite. The
instructions warn people that this can bring even a good machine to
its knees, and it is not recommended for everyone to run it. I have
run it because I have submitted an installer package for Mac OS X,
and it seemed prudent to take the time to test

ho do I encode multi channel flacs
Hi, maybe this has already been discussed already.. I _did_ search the
archives, found no solution...
I have a 4.1 channel track, I rip it to 5 separate mono wav files.
Is it possible to encode these independant files to one single multi-channel
flac file with flac?
I heard a bit about ripping to wav, converting all mono tracks to flac
separately (i had to use --channel-map=none to get this to

Samba Multichannel support - are different subnets still required for it to work?
I'm seeing conflicting information on the internet regarding Samba support for multichannel.
Some articles are saying that you have to put the interfaces in pairs on different networks/subnets. Quote: "at this time this is the only method Samba supports for multichannel."
Is this still true for the latest version of Samba (4.12)? In Windows Server you don't have to put the

FLAC Test files
Hi all!
I'm implementing FLAC playback in mC2 (a rewrite of musikCube) and need
to test if everything is working.
I was wondering if there are any FLAC test files to download?
I'm looking for files with diffent kind of bits (8,16,24 etc) and
examples of multichannel files.
Best regards

FAQ correction

This should be updated so that people know how good is Vorbis :)
