Yeah, strip 'em. It's the socially responsible thing to do, and saves
bandwidth too.

When applied to email, this means don't send bounce messages back to the

discrepancy between what quota reports and what du reports (second time post)
Hi Friends,
I am running samba as domain member of AD 2k3 on Centos 4.4 . Quota of
2GB is set for each user but for 2-3 uers quota or edquota is
showing wrong blocks even though disk space occupied by that user is
very less than the quota specified for ex 810 MB.

I think many people share your view and are aghast at the
reception that some well-intentioned posts receive. There
have been past discussions on this and many people feel the
way you and I do.
Just to head off another round, let me acknowledge that
there appears to be multiple viewpoints and although hard
to believe by myself, there actually is a contingent that

Fitting a mixed negative binomial model
Dear list members,
I want to fit a nonlinear mixed model using the nlme command. My dependent
variable takes the form of event counts for different countries over a
number of years, and hence I was going to fit a mixed effects negative
binomial model. The problem, as far as I can glean from Pinheiro & Bates
2000, is that I need a model that is not normal in the errors. All the
models they

Suggested strategies for testing a gem against Rails 3.x and Rails 4?
I''ve seen a few examples of dummy Rails apps (for testing, so they live
under test or spec dirs, typically) for use with the Appraisals gem that
supposedly work with both Rails 3.x and Rails 4, but they seem hackish and
not fully functional. It is somewhat expected, as it is a stripped down
Frankenstein monster that is trying to be compatible with various versions
of Rails 3 as well

Mongrel 0.3.15 PR -- All The Fixes Good For You
Hi folks,
Getting much much much closer to the 1.0 release. I have some documentation to work on tonight, and I need to go through the patch queue one more time, but I''ve put up another pre-release for people to test.
What this pre-release does is pull together the various patches, monkey patching, and alternatives that make Mongrel either faster or more stable. It is also the start

bwplot and panel.bwplot
Hello,
I am trying to use "bwplot" to display whisker boxes according to some conditioning factors ("age" has two values 1/2). I get the following messages:

Help Documentation (PR#6717)
Ivo,
Let me address your points in reverse order:
1. There is a `wishlist' category for bug reports, which I guess you've
overlooked.
2. There is also a `Contributed Documentation' section on the R web site,
which you can submit your contribution. As well, there are a few
introductory level documents there already that you might be interested.
3. I must repectfully disagree about

Insufficient Disk Space
I'm looking at migrating a small Netware 3.12 server to a Linux box with
samba for a small office. They use a DOS program called `ACCPAC' to do
their accounting; both the program and it's data reside on different
exported volumes on the netware system. I set up a linux box (for
testing- deployment later, maybe) to make sure the program would run
with samba before going ahead and just

ARIMA?
Hi All.,
Following on from all the help I received earlier ..
Just so as you know a well known text book (T&F) uses "repeated
observations"
- I think perhaps they meant repeated measures in retrospect
I am a total beginer to ARIMA, but have read a a basic text.
I read that ARIMA requires a minimum of 50 repeated measures in time
(repeated measures)-
Unfortunately, I have 8

No printers found!
Hi there,
I've just installed the official wine 0.9.3 deb file from winehq on an
x86_64 system running Ubuntu. After working out some library issues,
everything seems to run fine, except that I can't print. CUPS seems
to be set up fine. I have one printer configured which I can print
to, yet when I try to print from any Windows application, it tells me
that I must install a printer

RE: ACI appraisal program "freezes" when accessing SAMBA shares
Hi Brian,
I can't help you with your ACI problem, but if you think ACI is buggy, try a software called Appraiser's Toolbox/Clickforms by Bradford Technologies. I've actually used ACI in the past and was very happy with it. I am actually getting ready order it to replace Clickforms. Have you really had that many problems? FYI, I demo'd Alamode, which is supposed to be the

Samba "Preferred Platform"
I have set up several OpenSuSE 10.3 File Servers...
These are small environments, 5 - 15 workstations.
They are purely File (and possibly Application) Servers....
All are AMD64.
Since the Servers only purpose in life is to support Samba.
1.) Is there a platform Linux/Unix, where Samba is better supported...?
2.) Does Samba utilize a 64 bit environment, or is it better to
install 32 bit

ACI appraisal program "freezes" when accessing SAMBA shares
Hi all,
Our company uses a buggy piece of appraisal software called ACI Rapid
Report. We recently switched from Netware 3.1 to Samba 2.0.4b for
file serving, and since then have been unable to create new documents in
ACI.
Before creating a new document, ACI forms a list of all .aci files in the
"data" directory. Locally, this takes a few seconds. On Netware, it took
about a minute.

Mixed-effects model for overdispersed count data?
Hi,
I have to analyse the number of provisioning trips to nestlings according to a number of biological and environmental factors. I was thinking of building a mixed-effects model with species and nestid as random effects, using a Poisson distribution, but the data are overdispersed (variance/mean = 5). I then thought of using a mixed-effects model with negative binomial distribution, but I have

newbie xml parsing question
I am trying to read some data off the zillow site. Newbie to xml, html,

the information I'm interested in into R :

still a pretty standard first fix to reseat a card or connector.

Hey Kudzu, leave that device alone!
How do I get kudzu to still look for new equipment but stop checking to
see if some devices are present or not?
For example. I have an ATEN USB keyboard/mouse adapter. Sometimes at
boot, it is not ready? or something and then kudzu asks if I want that
in or not. Of course I want it in!!! I may have to unplug and plug it
back in, but don't bother me.
I have a similar challenge with
