How to let a Windows App talk to a Windows Scanner Driver
Hi there, I know that Wine usually offers the system's SANE scanners to Windows applications using a custom implementation of the twain.dll. In my case, I'm using a network scanner which has no linux drivers (Canon ImageRunner 2200). I was able to successfully install the Windows driver on Wine, and the ScanGear Tool that comes with the driver reports that the Scanner is online and the

squelch-1.0beta5 ready
I've made squelch-1.0beta5 and uploaded it - you can find it linked from http://www.geoid.clara.net/rik/squelch.html This version has a config dialog. It works out which output drivers libao has available and gives you a choice. You can also tell it where your 'audio dir' is - though that works a bit strangely at the moment - when you change it, all the files you have in your playlist

Re: Recognising an unrecognisable scanner
Hi from Z?rich,Schweiz and a hot , humid day. The SCANNER,Canoscan LiDE 600F,is not detected by XSANE/SIMPLE SCAN. It is probably detected :- here is the OUTPUT from TERMINAL COMMAND "sane-find-scanner -v" ***************************************************** found USB scanner (vendor=0x04a9 [Canon], product=0x2224 [CanoScan]) at libusb:001:005

Scanner missing again
A while back I posted about my new HP J3600 scan/fax/copy/print-er and how it was visible to the root but not me as an ordinary user. I had no trouble configuring it as a printer, but the scanner was invisible to xsane until I added my user id to the lp group. Now it's gone again, except that it is visible as a usb device to me as a normal user, but xsane can't seem to find it any more.

squelch-1.0beta10
I decided to write a changelog for once. Here's the text for this release: * Fixed repaint of last column in master track list. * Turned radio buttons into combo box in config dialog, used Qt Designer to make it instead of hand-coding. * Now plays sample rates other than 44100 and channel count other than 2, so you can play 22050Hz monaural recordings if you're that

Squelch 1.0beta9
Hi, I released Squelch 1.0beta9. It's a multi-platform Ogg Vorbis player, if you haven't heard of it. [1] Find it here: http://www.geoid.clara.net/rik/squelch.html Differences from beta8: * Vorbis comment editor ! [2] * More intelligent re-initialisation of output driver. * Stupid bugs in auto-update of master track list resolved. * Some bugs fixed, some more introduced ;) In theory,

May be the trick "Wine and twain" to "Wayne and twin" will give me more chance to be listen. Or may be my question is really stupid? >From a recent mail that I got, the problem is of

USB scanner setup: questions, problems
Hi, I have a small home LAN consisting of four PC's: one old Pentium III box acting as gateway / connection handler / printer server / file server / scanner server, and then one desktop and two laptops. I recently migrated this LAN from Slackware 10.2 to CentOS 4.3, and everything runs rather fine. One thing I have some trouble setting up is my Canon Perfection USB scanner for network use,
