The Speex ACM codec has been released as version 1.0.1.1. Enjoy! Here is a list of changes: * A setup application has been added to the release. Speex ACM no longer Beta (Houston, we have a release!)
Christian, I have successfully integrated your ACM codec in our applications, but I have run into one minor issue. In a code comment you imply that fmtnotice is an optional part of the WAVEFORMATEX extra data. I tried to play a file that had no fmtnotice but Windows did not recognize it as valid and did not play the audio. Your work is very much appreciated here and we are anxiously awaiting

ACM Format Tag for Speex Audio
My arrangement for a Speex format tag was actually accidental. I was asking what would be involved and instead of an answer, I got a format tag. Since there is only one functional Speex ACM codec available as far as I know, it should use the official format tag. I will be glad to modify our applications to conform to this de-facto standard. Others who may develop ACM codecs in the future

Speex ACM codec released on www.openacm.org
I am glad to announce the BETA release of the Speex ACM codec. It is based on the Speex 1.0.1 codec release. An ACM codec enables Windows to create and play back WAVE files containing Speex content. It might also be useful for use with Netmeeting (after some registry hacking. Not tested yet.). I also provide a portable playback tool (speexdec_wav) that handles both the Ogg and WAVE containers.

ACM Format Tag for Speex Audio
Hi, As a potential user of the Speex ACMs and DirectShow filters to come I am also curious about how many ACM codecs for Speex there are under development right now. Also, the WAVEFORMATEX structure must be planned so that it is extensible, with backward-compatibility, without having to ring back Microsoft for further WAVE_FORMAT tags. For instance, it is a good idea to put a flexible sub-format

Speex ACM no longer Beta (Houston, we have arelease!)
Prior to having your ACM codec, I was manually compressing Speex audio and writing it into one stream of an AVI file. To be able to use your codec for playback, I simply appended your WAVEFORMATEX extra data (the extra fields in SPEEXWAVEFORMAT) to the audio format. In looking at your code trying to determine how to fill in that data, it looked like the fmtnotice was optional. Is this truly the

Vorbis ACM
Does anyone have a status update for this project? The sourceforge page doesn't offer much info: http://sourceforge.net/projects/vorbisacm I'd love to be able to use Vorbis to encode audio from within Virtualdub, etc, etc, not to mention the ability o play Vorbis files in Windows Media Player. Too bad I don't have the skills to write it myself. Thanks, --Wilson. --- >8 ---- List

narrowband embedded in wideband
It looks like I'll need to go further into the guts of speex to do this. I do, however, see some lines in nb_celp.c/nb_decode() that look interesting. I guess I'll play with it. I doubt that it will be terribly clean, though. Jean-Marc: Take a look at line 1195 in nb_celp.c (CVS). It reads "speex_warning ("More than to wideband layers found: corrupted

Is there any speex plugin for windows media player?

( www.openacm.org ) But there is no plugin to load or save Vorbis Speex files natively, as far as I know. Christian <p>--- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project homepage:

Re: [vorbis-dev] ACM codec
My concern is primarly the 'marketing' aspect. If UCI, or MCF, or any other interface, is adopted by the toolmakers, then that's a perfectly good solution. <p>-----Original Message----- From: Christian HJ Wiesner [mailto:christian.hj.wiesner@web.de] Sent: Tue 11/12/2002 10:10 AM To: theora-dev@xiph.org Cc: Subject: [theora-dev] Re: [vorbis-dev] ACM codec

Quality & ripping speed
Thanks for all the great responses on tools to use - I have Exact Audio Copy and CDex working very well, and I've been working out all the kinks. Two questions, one very Vorbis related, one not :) 1) I know people have asked many times "What quality should I use". Well, I want to ask it again but in a narrower frame. I see less than 10% difference in size between 4.99 and 5.00 -
