DVDFAB and WINE
HI. I tried out DVDFAB 8 using wine and it worked great. So good i bought it for $86 and change. Problem is. When i go to register it it will not work. Since then i have searched their forum and find out it will not work with WINE when you register. Some kind of copy protection. No help on their forum. Best i have seen is to use Virturalbox. BUT i do not happen to have a unregistered Windows OS

Can only access new SAMBA fileshare from Windows as privileged user SAMDOM/Administrator, not as an ordinary user.
Cheers, that fixed it! :O) So, if I may summarise what we have just discussed. 1) All newly created samba users need to have the uidNumber attribute set to a unique value (within the range specified in smb.conf for SAMDOM) when using ad backend with RFC2307. 2) All new groups need to have the gidNumber set to a unique value (within the range specified in smb.conf for SAMDOM) when using ad

real time clock drift
This must be documented somewhare but I checked the Xen 3.0 manual and the word "clock" doesn''t even exist in it. I checked the FAQ as well. I am running Xen 3.0.1 and an AMD64 CPU. I found that DOMUs time clock drifts ahead. I installed ntpdate and it reports to change the time but it does not. David _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list

Crashes on launch with runaway blank error message windows
New, clean, basic install of Xubuntu 10.04 on older 256MB 400MHz Celeron. Wine 1.1.42-0ubuntu4 from us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid/universe Packages When launching winecfg or a Windows app, opens window for app, then starts opening infinite "error" windows that are blank. Only way to stop is to restart. Is there a log somewhare? Happen to anybody else?

how to optimize sip??
I remember reading somewhare that you should disable as many unused codecs on sip phones as possible to reduce bandwidth. I'm not sure what I have to do for each type of device I'm using. I have 2 sipura-2000's and 2 Grandstream BudgeTone 100's and a sipura-3000, and a few Xlite PC clients. What do I need to do for each device to reduce the overhead, and disable codecs that

RCurl: authentication when posting forms
Hi, Has anyone successfully used RCurl for posting data to a password-protected site? I have tired using option netrc=1 with both postForm and curlPerform (with postfields option) but can't authenticate. I would happily provide more details if some one has had some experience with this. Thanks very much. Valerie

Intel SS4200-E?
Has anyone tried runing zfs on the Intel SS4200-E [1],[[2]? Doesn''t have a video port, but you could replace the IDE flash DOM with a pre-installed system. I''m interested in this as a four disk smallish (34x41x12) portable ZFS appliance. Seems that people have got it running with Linux/Openfiler [3], and the process a Celeron 420 is 64bit. [1]

Can only access new SAMBA fileshare from Windows as privileged user SAMDOM/Administrator, not as an ordinary user.
Hi Rowland, thanks for your suggestions. I have read and re-read the Samba docs to try and understand where I went wrong here. I added the uidNumber and gidNumber exactly as per your comments and that seems to improve the situation markedly. I can now at least see that the share exists from SAMDOM\stephenellwood which wasn't possible before. File access is now possible from

Column aliasing in ActiveRecord?
Anybody know of a way to alias a column in ActiveRecord such that you could reference it via a different symbol in your view for view purposes? Like my column is named X but I want to display it as Y and maybe I have an accessor named Y set up on the model so that when I "call" Y from the view (and controller?) I''m actually manipulating the column X? Hope that makes sense.
