There is already a FatPipe host/device template and graph template that
someone has built!
I haven't loaded it as yet-- note his comments about his RRA being
included in his templates.

Linux Samba Server: empty shares on (Mac) clients
Hi,
I run a Samba Server on openSuSE 11.4 with LDAP Authentication Backend.
appears to work fine. However, only some shares work on my Mac client
boxes: for instance, i can browse my home directory on the Linux box
(/home/ray), whereas other shares are simply empty ("r01" below) on the
mac (but they are shown as connected).

Mirrors?
Okay, since the site is slashdotted can someone post a list of mirrors
to this list? For starters I've put the tarballs at
ftp://ftp.rlug.org/vorbis, if anyone's having a hard time getting
through.

improving vorbis compression with arithmetic coding and by exploiting temporal redundancies
Hi!
If you were looking foe a paper about improving vorbis compression by using
arithmetic coding and exploiting temporal redundancies (i.e. repeating sound)
you might have a look here:
http://web.interware.hu/rudas
Three ogg vorbis files were compressed losslessly, with compression ratios
between 2 - 8 % and compression time about 1/500 realtime (i.e. slow).
Theoretical upper bound of the

Using a Dual WAN Load Balancing Device
We have a client that wants to bond 2 DSL circuits instead of getting
a T-1 (or similar) at their office to run their VoIP traffic on. We
came across this Multihomed Gateway (MH200):

Does anybody think this would work if installed at the client location
handling NAT for 10 Cisco 7960's and connecting to our public asterisk
server?

Colour depth reduced to 12 by bitmap devices
I am using R to create colour plots as bitmap files. I have created a
palette of 256 colours that I want to use, but the resultant output
files contain only 12 colours used in dither patterns. The result is the
same whether I use bmp() or png().
How can I get the true colours that I specified instead of dither
patterns? (making the driver's job easier!)
I am using R 1.1.0 for Windows

VuXML.org improvements
Hello Everyone,
I have made a few small changes to the VuXML.org web sites,
http://www.vuxml.org/freebsd/ (aka vuxml.freebsd.org)
and http://www.vuxml.org/openbsd/
- Date-oriented indices (e.g. entry date index) visually group entries
from the same date.
- The package name index is more useful, listing individual package names.
- Each package referenced in VuXML now has its own index

OpenSSL heads-up
Hello Everyone,
You may have seen the recent announcement regarding new OpenSSL
vulnerabilities. <URL: http://www.openssl.org/news/secadv_20030930.txt >
Just thought I'd drop a line to head off the usual questions. :-)
Don't panic. The vulnerability is denial-of-service.
OpenSSL 0.9.7c will be imported into -CURRENT and -STABLE over the
next couple of days, and included

NOTE regarding sendmail DNS map issue
You may or may not have already seen:
<URL: http://www.sendmail.org/dnsmap1.html>
I thought I'd drop an explanatory note here until I publish an
advisory. This problem has been known for some time (it was first
reported in FreeBSD PR#54367). The default configuration of
sendmail is unaffected, and it is unknown whether the issue is truly
exploitable by any means. Nonetheless, I

HEADS-UP: BIND denial-of-service vulnerability
Hello Everyone,
ISC has released new versions of BIND 8 which address a remotely
exploitable denial-of-service vulnerability that may allow an attacker
to perform `negative cache poisoning'--- convincing a name server that
certain RRs do not exist (even though they may). I do not know of any
workaround at this time.
I have committed fixes to the RELENG_5_1 and RELENG_4_9 security
branches.
