Theora file size
Hi
I was surprised with size of Theora files and thought
of feedback.
Following 1minute duration Theora and Xvid files were
made from a y4m file. The resolution is 1280x720:
1. Xvid 17MB
2. Ogg/Theora Q7 31MB
3. Ogg/Theora Q8 38MB
4. Ogg/Theora Q9 49MB
5. Ogg/Theora Q10 61MB
The Xvid file was made using mencoder by 2 passes with

computation on a table
Hello,
I have a table (1) of the form
q1 q3 q4 q8 q9
A 5 2 0 1 3
B 2 0 2 4 4
I have another table (2):
q1 q2 q3 q4 q5 q6 q7 q8 q9
C 10 7 4 2 6 9 3 1 2
I would like to divide the numbers in table (1) by the number of the
appropriate column in table (2):
q1 q3 q4 q8 q9
A 5/10 2/4 0/2 1/1 3/2
B 2/10 0/4 2/2 4/1 4/2

ABX at q8
Hello!
First of all, 100x thanks to Monty and colleagues: you have done an
excellent job! I just didn't believe my ears when I first tested Oggenc
1.0 at q0 to q1 - it sounds AMAZINGLY GOOD !!!
But as HDD drives are getting larger and cheaper, most of us move toward
higher quality settings ......... I use q8, because:
- I was able to ABX some test samples up to q4.99
- at q8 Ogg is still

Operating on count lists of non-equal lengths
This is my first post to R-help and I look forward receiving some
advice for a novice like me...
I?ve got a simple repeated (4 periods so far) 10-question survey data
that is very easy to work on Excel. However, I?d like to move the
compilation to R but I?m having some trouble operating on count list
data in a neat way.

[PATCH 0/5] ARM NEON optimization for samplerate converter
From: Jyri Sarha <jsarha at ti.com>
I optimized Speex resampler for NEON capable ARM CPUs. The first patch
should speed up resampling on any platform that can spare the
increased memory usage. It would be nice to have these merged to the
master branch. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to
help the the merge. The patches have been rebased on top of master
branch in

Function for deleting variables with >=50% missing obs from a data frame
Hello R users!
I have several data frames where some of the variables have many missing observations. For example, Q1 in one of my data frames has over 66% of its observations missing. I have tried imputation with mice but it does not work for all the data frames and I get the following message or a similar message to this:

[PATCH] 02-
- Use MAC16_16 macros instead of (sum += a*b) and unroll a loop by 2. It
increase performance when using optimized macros (ex: ARMv5E). A
possible side effect of loop unroll is that i don't check for odd length
here.

Standardized residual variances in SEM
Hello,
I'm using the "sem" package to do a confirmatory factor analysis on data
collected with a questionnaire. In the model, there is a unique factor G
and 23 items. I would like to calculate the standardized residual
variance of the observed variables. "Sem" only gives the residual
variance with the "summary" function, or the standardized loadings with

Problems with pyvorbis python bindings.
[Sorry if this is a duplicate post. My original didn't appear to have
gotten through.]
I had previously installed libao, libogg, libvorbis, and vorbis-tools,
as linked from the RC3 download page at vorbis.com -- I downloaded and
installed the latest versions of these four libraries from the
vorbis.com download page, at which point my pyogg/pyvorbis Python
bindings broke. I reinstalled the

Segmentation fault
Hi!
I'm running NUT 2.0.4 and occasionally I get a segfault when starting
newhidups and if I don't get a segfault when starting newhidups the
process starts eating away at my memory. I sat down trying to genererate
-DDDDD debug info, but just because of that I can't get it to do a
segfault. So until I can, has things changed in the development version,
that might have fixed this?

How to choose quality
Hi
I made a CD-backup with cdparanoia | oggenc and I tried to use different values of -q listening to the effect by cdparanoia | oggenc -o - | mplayer -. The best quality was 8 -- why? Oggenc version was the precompiled 1.0 from Mandrake 9.
