HowTo derive a correct likelihood-ratio chi-squared statistic from lrm() with a rsc() ?
Dear R helpers,
>From the lrm( ) model used for binary logistic regression, we used the L.R.
model value (or the G2 value, likelihood-ratio chi-squared statistic) to
evaluate the goodness-of-fit of the models. The model with the lowest G2
value consequently, has the best performance and the highest accuracy.
However our model includes rsc() functions to account for non-linearity. We

icecast 2 testing
hello,
could someone test the my icecast 2 server? there should be a stream at
http://real.radiostudio.org:8000/vorbis, but I'm not able to listen to
it. I don't know if the problem in winamp or in icecast or in my
streaming application. You could also send a stream to it, it's the
default icecast password.
I would be very happy if someone could test it :))))))

RTRails now open sourced
Hi, if anyone is interested in HTTP streaming and realtime
communication:
Our RTRails project is now finished.
I uploaded RTRails to Rubyforge. Here is the project page:

Here is a video showing two browsers using the app, Safari in Pull mode,

Penalized likelihood-ratio chi-squared statistic: L.R. model for Goodness of fit?
Dear R list,
From the lrm() binary logistic model we derived the G2 value or the
likelihood-ratio chi-squared statistic given as L.R. model, in the output of
the lrm().
How can this value be penalized for non-linearity (we used splines in the
lrm function)?
lrm.iRVI <- lrm(arson ~ rcs(iRVI,5),
penalty=list(simple=10,nonlinear=100,nonlinear.interaction=4))
This didn’t work

Stream from HAL2001
My machine is encoding the HAL2001 radio. You could get the Ogg/vorbis
live stream at http://ogg.radiostudio.org:8002/hal2001.ogg
I use the beta4 encoder, if there is a newer one for encoding lower
bitrates, please give me the download link (win32 binary).

new version of RTWindows, a scriptaculous window system
Hey,
I uploaded the (probably) final version of RTWindows. It is far from
perfect, but it does enough for me. Main problem is slowness, but that
seems to be a general problem of draggables.
Take a look at

Help!!!
Hi!
I heard many things over ogg, but all what i can see is shit. O.K. The
oggdrop.exe play with me, have this tool a version number? I can't see
it. Every other tool don't run under my system (Win98; Athlon1,5GHz;
768MB RAM). For example every version of oggenc produce the error:
"OGGENC.EXE kann nicht ausgef?hrt werden"!
There are a german mailing list? An how can i register

New class: DHTML window
Hi list,
i spent the last two days building a window class.
Windows can be dragged, resized, minimized and closed.
The windows are table-less, which makes rendering faster. Also divs with overflow:auto don''t seem to like dragging.
The class is losely based on the resizable class by Michael Daines, which was posted here some weeks ago.
BTW i spent three times more time on CSS tweaking

bug? ogg123 and mono files
hello,
I try to listen to the stream at http://ogg.radiostudio.org:8007/ostream.ogg
with
ogg123, it's a 44100/mono stream. It sounds to me like a mono file played as
a stereo
file. there are very often silent drop outs and the music is pitched. is
this a bug
in ogg123?
I changed to stereo encoding and know it's better (normal pitch without
silence), but
I have klicks/scratches in

why does it sound so strange
hi,
what makes the stream at http://ogg.radiostudio.org:8007/ostream.ogg
sound so strange. I don't complain, I just want to know the reason for
this (is this pre-echo?).
mörk
p.s.: the stream will be online for the next couple of days.

DirectShow filter for Speex
Hi,
I've had many requests in the past for a Speex DirectShow filter. Well,
the wait is now over, thanks to Jean-Francois Emond. Both source and
binaries are available from the "Other software" page
(http://www.speex.org/projects.html). Bear in mind that for now, only a
subset of Speex features are supported (8 kHz, 15 kbps).

use helper methods in controller? (sanitize)
Hi,
I want to use the method sanitize() to clean up some user input before I
save it to the db. sanitize() is a helper method, so it is only usable
in templates, right?
So how can I use helper methods in the controller, or why should I not?
I could build a template like "<%=sanitize(input)-%>" and use
render_to_string, but that seems pretty hackish.
Or I could sanitize every

low-bitrate streams and pure Java Ogg Vorbis player
Hi there,
I have developed pure Java Ogg Vorbis decoder, JOrbis.
By the recent improvements on JOribs, its 'simple' player, JOrbisPlayer, will
enable you to enjoy low-bitrate/mono streams on the web browser with
J2SE 1.3(or later)Plug-in; Java plug-in;
I have provided digitally signed JOrbisPlayer at
