help diagnosing tftp server on centos 5
Hi all, I have a centos 5 box I have setup, current with updates. (I have done this many times on centos 4). I did the yum install tftp-server, changed the /etc/xinetd.d/tftp file as shown. # default: off # description: The tftp server serves files using the trivial file transfer \ # protocol. The tftp protocol is often used to boot diskless \ # workstations, download

hpa-tftp with xinetd
Good day, Just a quick question- could someone please confirm that this is the correct xinetd configuration (or not) for hpa-tftp? We've noticed that, when under moderate load hpa-tftpd resides in memory, even after there are no connections or even if xinetd is shut down. Under light load the server goes away after each connection, as desired. Thanks in advance! service tftp {

Samba Administration Tool recommendations
Hi All, I have a project which is to build a customized Linux distribution with a focus on deploying a Samba as Primary Domain Controller. It's pretty much like Trixbox but instead of Asterisk and VOIP, will be focused on Samba. Right now, I am looking for a solution for an administrator to easily manage the service. Of particular importance would be to easily add workstations and set up

Cannot execute /usr/bin/fetchmail
Hello everyone, I'm setting up a fetchmail command to run every five minutes so I can get email from another POP3 account. The fetchmail package was installed via yum. I can execute the command manually on the command line. But I'm having trouble when it's run from cron. I have noticed that commands run via cron and execute via /bin/sh, so I tried to run the fetchmail command

African IP addresses list
Hi all, I am trying to block all IP addresses from Africa due to a high rate of fraudulent orders coming from them. I have some found some websites that can generate a range of IP addresses. However, you would have to enter the ranges by country. I can use those perhaps but that would mean I would have to get the ranges for each country one by one. Has anyone here a list of addresses from

Using yum with CentOS-2 mirrors
Hi all, I was having yum errors while updating our CentOS-2 box. Further reading lead me to a readme file on the mirrors (http://mirror.centos.org/centos-2/readme.txt) and it gave me the new URL to use for CentOS-2 mirrors. I have edited /etc/yum.conf with the new URLs but I'm still having issues with yum giving me "ValueError: unpack list of wrong size" errors. Has anyone been

tftp-hpa 5.2
Hello everyone, I am having difficulties in setting up a tftp server on a Fedora 3.14.8-200.fc20.x86_64. Running tftp client to test the server functionality, a simple get from the terminal prompts 'Transfer timed out.' back. The version is tftp-hpa 5.2, with remap, with tcpwrappers, unfortunately I am not able to find any log in the system journal.? The server and related services appear

[CentOS 5] tftp-server, unable to create new files (even with "-c" option)
Hi all, I'm trying to setup a TFTP server to serve as repository for the config of all my Cisco network devices. As per the the tftpd man, I've added the "-c" option into the /etc/ xinetd.d/tftp (as follows) but I still cannot get write access (unless the file is already present). [root at chl1 ~]# cd /etc/xinetd.d [root at chl1 xinetd.d]# cat tftp # default: off #

"Site down for maintenance" - How is this accomplished?
Hello everyone, Although we use CentOS primarily on our servers, this query is actually more of a general networking question than something specific to CentOS. In the next week or so, we shall be migrating our in-house servers to a data center. While we're doing that, we'd like to show a "Site down for maintenance" message while the servers that hosts our websites (we have

tftp times out
tftp keeps timing out when I try to transfer files. I intend to use tftp with G4U to clone a standard workstation. I am testing it between two Dell poweredge servers running CentOS 4.3. "chkconfig --list |grep tftp" shows tftp up and running on both boxes. When connected "tftp>status" shows it is talking to the other box "tptp>trace" shows "sent WRQ

tftp-hpa 0.28, 0.29 interoperability problem
Hi, I have a tftp client which loads quite happily from a tftpd built from netkit-tftp-0.16 but which fails to load from from a tftpd built from tftp-hpa 0.29. In both cases, tftpd was built from pristine sources and run from xinetd under Redhat 7.3. [netkit-tftp-0.16 is the ancestor of tftp-hpa, predating HPA's maintenance of same] [the tftp client also.. .. fails with the prebuilt tftpd

Postgresql 8.1.x on CentOS 3.6
Hello everyone, Does anyone know if there are any Postgresql 8.1.3 RPMs for CentOS 3.6? I've looked at the Postgresql website but I couldn't find anything under RHEL3/CentOS3. I've tried installing the RHEL4 RPMs which seem to work. Unfortunately, I'm getting errors whenever I try to compile PHP5 from source. Thanks and Best Regards, Matt -- Stand before it and there is no

Getting info on hardware RAID
Hello everyone, I'm doing an audit of all our servers here (there aren't that many maybe around 5-10) and one of the things I'm doing is taking note of each server's hardware specs (processor, memory, etc). I can't seem to figure out how to get the information for the hard drives. The drives are in a hardware RAID5 array and are all SCSI types. I would like to get each

Overwrite target of ln
Hi all, Sorry if this seems too basic. But is there a way to overwrite the target of a symbolic link without first deleting the symlink itself? For example, if I have this: public_html -> releases/b2b-20080228 ... and there's a new update, I can then just do the following: $ ln releases/site-latest public_html I tried using the -f option but it doesn't seem to work as expected.

Music on Hold on IP Phones with FreePBX 2.2.0
Hello everyone, We just installed a new Trixbox 2.0 server and updated FreePBX to 2.2.0 from 2.2.0rc3. We are having some problems with regards to Music on Hold on IP phones. When we press the "Hold" button, the caller doesn't hear the MOH sound. This functionality used to work with the older Asterisk@Home installation on the same hardware and configuration. However, we don't

Hello, I am trying to flash new firmware into a router using TFTP-HPA. I am running Ubuntu 14.04 on a flash drive and still learning how to use Linux. Here are the instructions I'm trying to follow: cd /tmp ; tftp -gl aa 192.168.0.9; sh aa I do not know what
