Strange encoding issue
If this is not the proper list for this type of question, please direct me to the correct one and I'll post similar queries there in the future. I've been happily using rc3 since shortly after its release and slowly converting the music collection on my PC from mp3 to ogg. I've now run into a problem that has me stumped. On the 2nd track of The Breeders _Last Splash_ album, the

lowpass option (Was: RE: channel coupling in rc2)
I would very much like a lowpass option because for FM radio broadcasting I don't want to encode frequencies above 15khz. I'm waiting for this option before switching to ogg from mp3(lame). Bass response with Ogg Vorbis
I'm a bass player, I admit it. I came across a number of people talking about bass response with Ogg Vorbis and it piqued my interest, I live for this stuff. I am using the Ogg files to distribute songs as converted right from the 32 bit masters. This is a much different thing than ripping a 16 bit CD audio file that has been mushed and compressed much before it winds up as an Ogg file. When

Issue with signals with lots of bass
Hi, We've just found an issue when encoding signals that have very powerful bass (e.g. a loud 40 Hz tone). Turns out that was a combination of the MDCT leakage with some inefficiency in the VQ search. There's a tentative fix for that in git, which I'm encouraging everyone to test. To enable the fix, look for these lines in alg_quant() (vq.c): #if 0 if (K > (N>>1)) Just

Beta4 artifact/bug in the bass area
Hi! Today, I found an encoding bug with a new tune by me. http://www.uni-karlsruhe.de/~us87/ogg/vorbis_bassrumble_demo.rar (2.1MB) contains the original .WAV in 16bit/44.1kHz and an .OGG encoded at 350kbit/s. I found the bug when listening to the 128kbit/s version, but encoding it with that high bitrate didn't change a thing. The deep bassdrum contains a rumbling, knocking sound (the first

(Classical) Request for Standardization of expanded TAGS
A month or two ago I sent an email to this list proposing to expand the list of "standard" tags for Ogg Vorbis. No tag would be required, but if you wanted to encode certain types of information about a file, you could use a standard tag. I went through the whole discussion, and revised my proposal in light of all the comments from everyone. Here is the updated proposal. This

data retention and e-discovery rules
Hello All, I am in the United States where we have e-discovery rules. Some organizations have to retain data for a certain amount of time, others are required to have a data retention policy. This means that while it should probably be possible for a user to "delete" an email so they do not see it. The server needs to store it, possibly in a tree that mirrors the folder setup of

krbtgt user not showing aes types
I have found source4/scripting/devel/chgtdcpass for adding the aes types to machines. I know you have to change the password of normal users. How do you fix this for krbtgt? Can you just change the password? Is there a recommended method? Thank you for any help, Trever -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... Name: signature.asc Type:

I know that sieve doesn't do math. The file would be created externally. Based on examples in section 4.4 of https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc5260#section-4 I figured something like this would work. if date :value "le" :originalzone "date" "date" "2018-10-25" { ??????? fileinto "SPAM"; ??????? stop; } However, I get the following. spam: line

gssapi problems (postfix sasl through dovecot, dovecot imap working fine)
Thanks to Timo, I have solved all but one of my problems. For back ground, I am using Samba4 as an AD. I have the userdb working from LDAP just fine and kerberos authenetication for dovecot's IMAP server working fine. The problem is using dovecot's SASL with postfix. I also have plain/login working in imap and smtp. Both use pam_krb5 through pam to authenticate clients that don't have

possible bug leading to lmtp crashes
I have been using Samba 4 kerberos and ldap with dovecot. Samba 4 changed a while back (resulting in me asking for help) which requires kerberos auth for ldap lookups. My setup worked perfectly before hand. Before and after were with dovecot-2.0.11 and the after also happens with 2.0.11. The only changes were (in my ldap.conf for dovecot -- changes are new lines starting with *, * is not in the

Location of fileinfo
hello there, I just started using ogg files. And want to thank you all for this new format. I have written an addon for mirc (chatclient for irc chat networks) to play and exchange soundfiles and I am almost done with implementing the ogg vorbis format into this application. The mirc-scriptinglanguage provides me a command to read a specified number of bytes starting at a specified location of

CUPS backend question - Samba 4
Hello, I have a DC that sits on a different subnet from the CUPS server that I would like to use. I would rather not install CUPS on the DC. Is it possible to change the server name away from localhost for the CUPS backend and have it connect to that other server to get the printers (load printers = yes) and print to that server? Must I have a CUPS installation on the DC? Thank you, Trever
