Trouble building libvorbis-1.0rc3
Hi all,
I was just trying to build myself a RC3 set of Ogg/Vorbis libs and
tools, but the build of libvorbis bombs out on me while making all in
examples. I've ./configure'd with no options, which gave no warnings
or errors. After that a normal make gives the below attached output.
Can anyone tell me what I've done wrong ?
I've also tried removing the examples/ directory. After

compile optimization error in libvorbis-1.0
Wow, I've never seen an FSF gcc crap out like this on a non-overheating
system. When lib/envelope.c is compiled with -march=i686, gcc gets a
signal 11, but not with -march=i586. I'm not sure whether to blame gcc
or libvorbis. There are apparently three other files in libvorbis where
this same behavior is seen.

Dovecot doesn't use vchkpw properly :(
Hey all,
It seems that dovecot does NOT call vchkpw properly when using
vpopmail-style authentication, I can only guess that it reads the
vpasswd{,.cdb} files directly. This is indicated by the syslog log
for the mail facitily which reads:
Jun 30 16:51:30 [vpopmail] vchkpw-smtp: (PLAIN) login success
blah at blah.com:24.17.153.137

No shell prompt presented on SSH connection
I just installed OpenSSH-3.0.2pl1 on a new machine, but am unable to use it.
SCP works, ssh outbound works, and ssh inbound appears to work but I never
get a prompt. The password authentication works...
The output of ssh -vv from a client machine is exactly the same as the output
when connecting to a machine where I do get a prompt, so it must be something
outside of the ssh connection

Easiest CD --> Vorbis
What's the easiest single step command to use cdparanoia & oggenc to convert
a CD straight into oggs without sucking a ton of disk space for WAVs in the
meantime? Is it possible to do it so that the WAV rip resides in memory and
only the ogg gets written to disk?
Thanks,

Stability
I am currently using Dovecot 0.99.14-r1 as provided by Gentoo, in a Qmail +
VPopmail configuration. I am curious as to how to configure it to ensure the
most stability, as it serves >1000 clients. I would rather disable any
indexing that give small speed improvements if they are not known to be
stable.
Advice?
Cheers,

Digest-MD5 and GSSAPI not working in beta3
I have built dovecot with kerberos support, however am not able to log in
using GSSAPI support in my mail client. I receive the following error:
SASL(-4): no mechanism available: No worthy mechs found
Additionally, Digest-MD5 does not work - I receive an authentication failed
(as though I have an incorrect password) if I try to use it.
I am using PostgreSQL for authentication, and returning

Outlook causes BIG dovecot index problem (beta 8, outlook 2003)
Hey all,
Well, I typed up all the below, then managed to fix the problem before
sending this to the list. I'll send it anyways, in case anybody else is
affected by it (and because it does indicate a definite bug in Dovecot's
experimental Kerberos support). The fix is to recompile without
kerberos enabled, and to take gssapi out of the auth methods in the
config (the latter alone

Undeleteable folders
We have 3 folders in every user's account which need to be there. Sometimes
the users are stupid and delete or rename them. Is there any way to make
them unmodifiable, but still allow them to see them, and move mail into/out
of them?
Cheers,

No thanks. Just improve the filters to detect extended characters.

Server & move to Dovecot
Hi,
I a currently running a server which is using uw-imap server which currently
has 190 users. I am looking to move the server OS and the imap server to
Dovecot Imap Server. We are currently using mbox as the default mail file.
I have a couple of questions to ask.
1) Would it be better if we moved to maildirs during the server move?
2) All current mail files are in a directly called

Old Maildir UW-imap
Hi all,
I'm new in using dovecot and I'm running in a problem, which I cannot
solve without hours and hours of work. Maybe there is a solution, which
I didn't find with old friend google :_)
Here is the problem: We are using an old mailserver (it's running fine
for 5 years) with qmail and the old uw-imap server. All users have their
grown directories under a home/Maildir folder.

Active Directory domain controller authentication order
Hello,
I'm curious if anybody knows how to configure the order in which domain
controllers are contacted by clients for authentication purposes and other
such stuff. I've a situation where it seems that all our Windows computers
are attempting to authenticate off of a remote server before the local one,
which is backwards. I'm not even certain where to check what they are

ext3 for 2.2 and LFS
In the Red Hat Linux spec file for the 2.2.19 kernel, there is a note
not to enable ext3 and LFS at the same time. I'm wondering whether this
is an old note, and that it is safe to use ext3 0.0.7a on a system with
LFS enabled, or if there are still issues with it.
I'm aware that 0.0.7a is a really old version, and 2.2 isn't the most
modern kernel, but it is what I have to work with.

LFS changes...
< This patch is against openssh-2.5.2p2 >
Here's a few lines we changed a while back in "scp.c" to get it to
transfer large (>2GB) file on a 32-bit system using LFS. Obviously,
you don't want the line hard-coded in that sets _FILE_OFFSET_BIT=64,
but perhaps you could make it a configure option. (Is it already
perhaps?)
Do you agree that these lines are neccessary
