PlusV algorithm
Important (imho)! I found this site in the internet: http://www.plusv.org/ PlusV is an audio enhancement algorithm similar to SRB of Mp3Pro, but 1) better than SBR 2) Fully open-source It seems to me wise to include PlusV into new versions of Ogg Vorbis. P.S. what about some long-awaited features in Ogg Vorbis? 1) ability to turn off the frequency filter in the encoder (especially for high

AW: PlusV algorithm -> CBR
fwiw, there are definitely applications that would use Vorbis but can't until there is a _strict_ CBR mode. Meaning, architecturally the datarate simply cannot exceed X no matter what happens to the quality. Send silence if you have to, but limit the datarate. -dbm -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... Name: winmail.dat Type: application/ms-tnef

[PATCH] Support for accounting based on uid/gid
Hi, I noticed shorewall''s accounting feature didn''t support the owner module of iptables. Well, I needed the feature so here''s a patch that makes it possible. However, there''s one thing you might review carefully as I wasn''t sure what''s the best way to work around it. You must use chain OUTPUT in order to make -m owner work (iptables

how to cut very big mp3s ?
Hi there, maybe someone here could help me solve my problem. I've streamed two complete days of a congress using DarkIce and IceCast, but now I want to cut the mp3 files in parts, a part per speaker. I've actually got four mp3 files, one for each morning and afternoon, but each is several hundreds megabytes long (128 Kbits/s stereo) Is there any tool available which would allow me to

Allocating 64 kbits/s out of 256 kbits/s for one LAN behing firewall
Hi, We have a 256 kbits/s (kilobits per second) link to the internet. it is a router running Linux that belongs to our ISP. They have given us 8 internet ips. (i.e- subnet is 255.255.255.248). one has been given to this router. I have given another internet ip to the firewall running CentOS 4.5. iptables is running on it. And also, I have installed iproute2 pkg as well. pls see below for

[PATCH] Configurable variable for iptables executable
Hello, I want to test Shorewall''s IPsec feature. It requires patched netfilter (and kernel but that''s another story). I didn''t want to replace my distribution''s iptables package with my own compilation so I installed it to another prefix. Now Shoreall uses the iptables command found first in $PATH. I don''t think this is the most elegant way. I

QoS by customer or by service ?
I have a policy doubt. Suppose next scenario: I''ve a Internet link (1 Mb upload, and 1 Mb download). That link is maneged with a Linux QoS box (HTB/eSFQ and so on). Suppose that I''ve 50 customers sharing Internet Link, and I must to assign 3 ranges of bandwidth for them. Gold customers: 128 kbits Silver customers: 64 kbits brass customers: 32 kbits Next, I create classes

Bandwidth shaping and ISP''s network peerings
Hello all! I have a small LAN at home and when someone starts to download (only one), interractive traffic (www, chat and online games) is impossible with standard kernel queues setup... So I started to shape. My ISP gives me a 512 kbits link to the Internet and a 100 Mbits link to some of the other big ISPs in my country. If I set the rate of the parent htb qdisc at 512 kbits, I will never use

request to have edit access to wiki
Hi all, I did try to do this myself as I thought Tuomas had introduced himself and gotten wiki access for other pages ... but my skills with the #acl markup have atrophied and I couldn't make it work. :) I'd like Tuomas to have access so there is a clear commit record of him having down the work, and in the future to collaborate on any adjustments to that page. best regards, - Karsten

Extensively slowing for(i in 1:400) statement
Hello! Here is what I have tried to do: 1. I have 400 time series 2. pull one serie at a time from ODBC 3. calculate some descriptives and regressions (about 50 statistic per serie) 4. store the results in the data frame The problem: The time consumed in each loop seems to grow linearly. I used the date() function for timing each loop and time spent in loop seems to grow at the speed of 0.6 *

How to calculate exact bitrate/filesize w/ Vorbis? Plz help
Hi, I'm quite familiar w/ mp3 cbr/abr/vbr encoding, as well as mpeg4 (cbr/vbr,etc). And I can always calc the bit rate for a given file size with: file size * 8000 / length in seconds = kbits/sec Works great w/ mpeg4 + mp3. BUT FOR THE LIFE OF ME: I cannot get oggenc (1.0x version) to give me the file size I want. I calc. it with the above formula, and nothing comes out right. Then I do

Why did I need strange ceiling settings?
Hi all, I recently installed traffic shaping on my ADSL line with a nominal upload rate of 1MBit. My Modem says it has an upload bitrate of 843 kbits. So I thought, to use a ceiling of 800kbit for the root qdisc is a good idea. But with that setting I only achieved upload rates of around 300kbits whereas I reached around 650 kbits without traffic shaping. Yesterday I played a little with the

Balancing LVOL fill?
Hi all I have this server with some 50TB disk space. It originally had 30TB on WD Greens, was filled quite full, and another storage chassis was added. Now, space problem gone, fine, but what about speed? Three of the VDEVs are quite full, as indicated below. VDEV #3 (the one with the spare active) just spent some 72 hours resilvering a 2TB drive. Now, those green drives suck quite hard, but not
