Anyone have a status update on when Sonic Foundry plans on supporting RC2 ogg files? A while back on this list someone said they had a good contact at SF and was supposed to chekc up on it. I have contacted Ahead Software about including Vorbis support with Nero and they asked that a developer contact them about including it. Any chance a developer can contact them about support for Vorbis

Yes, but I'm also unable to read that stream from VLC on OS X and Windows Whamb works on OS X, QCD works on windows. If it is confirmed that VLC is not working with that header, then we may ask VLC team to handle that header ? Somebody reported a bug against zinf that the equalizer did not work with oggvorbis streams. Upon looking, I noticed that while the mp3 decoder (xing) has an equalizer interface to modify the decoding, I could not find an equivalent for ogg. Does the beast exist? Should it? I just wanted to know if anyone has noticed a difference between MP3 and OGG encoded files when having the Winamp equalizer switched on? I seem to be missing bass and the sound doesn't fill the room as much with OGG. With the EQ turned off there is no discernable difference between both LAME and Vorbis encoded files (both at an average of 192 kbps). Is this an error with the OGG Winamp plugin?

I was under the impression that "PCM equalizer" means it only equalizes the PCM codec, i.e. WAV files. Have you noticed a significant quality improvement in the EQ for compressed media: MP3, Vorbis, MPC? What is the best (preferable open source) media player for oggs? I'm on windows, and Windows Media Player is the best thing I can seem to find. I've looked at WinAmp, QCD, Sonique, and FreeAmp, and they just don't seem to have the media library functionality WMP has. Is there another player out there I'm missing? Chris
