MP3 MetaData in WMP and RealOne
Did you really see meta-data? Or did it show data from the playlist-
file? Or did you see the data (name and genre) provided in the http-
header upon connect?
E.g.:
http://www.shoutcast.com/sbin/shoutcast-
playlist.pls?rn=4219&file=filename.pls
Shows "CLUB 977 The 80s Channel (HIGH BANDWIDTH)" in WinAmp. But this
is due to the "title" set in the .pls and/or provided in

MP3 MetaData in WMP and RealOne
Hi Stephan,
I am talking about the meta-data: Artist - Song. It's weird because you are
the second person on the list who doesn't get it working in Real... I just
tried again with "BEK_dns" and "Radio Alcanzando Naciones" the 2 first MP3
radios I found in the stream directory and everything worked perfectly for
Real (but not for WMP).
In RealPlayer, I clicked

Shoutcast YP/WinAmp Directory Listing
From a technical standpoint, we could make this happen, however :
1. the Shoutcast listing protocol is completely different from the Icecast
one, and so we'd have to code it and maintain it.
2. (more importantly) Shoutcast has, in the past, banned all non-shoutcast
stations (and yes, even specifically icecast stations) from their
directory. They've explicitly stated they don't

Shoutcast YP/WinAmp Directory Listing
Thanks for the info oddsock,
I guess at the end of the day, if icecast was listing in scast and scast
banned it then it would be a waste of time
And they would ban the streams as soon as they find em being listed so
we'll forget that idea ;-)

Problem connecting to icecast2
I am using the http protocol now and I still get the same results.
Does the mount point in ices need to be a directory that I am mounting
to with read write permissions? Or is it a virtual mountpoint?

Problem connecting to icecast2
In your Ices0. config file you need to change the protocol to work with
Icecast 2 (at the moment you have it set up for Icecast 1.3 server).
HTTP is the required protocol for connecting to Icecast 2.

<Protocol>http</Protocol>

Winamp v5.22 / oddcast / aac+
Something else, Greg. Are you aware of any 3G / 2.5G (EDGE) clients for
mobile phones that support AAC+ streaming? Be it java or symbian based.
Thanks
Alex

Problem connecting to icecast2
The mountpoint is created by the Icecast server after initiated by Ices and
only exists while it's source does.
<p>Check the error.log in the Icecast 2 directorys to see why the Ices is
having trouble making a connection.

Winamp v5.22 / oddcast / aac+
I'm not sure if this is an icecast issue or oddcast issue or both, but
the latest Winamp (v5.22) is not now playing AAC+ streams encoded with
Oddcast. Winamp v5.21 and earlier versions work fine. This may be some
attempt by Winamp developers to force people to use Shoutcast, or to
prevent oddcast from using their enc_aacplus.dll.
Right, just took some time to set up the Shoutcast DSP to

ID3v1 support to Winamp v.2 plugin
I just added code to the Winamp 2 plugin that reads/writes ID3v1.1 tags
in FLAC files from the 'Get File Info' dialog and properly reports the
artist and title information to the playlist. In what format would you
prefer the new code?
Additionally, do you think it would be worth adding this functionality
to the FLAC API? It would be cool to have the capability to write ID3v1
tags from the

Winamp v5.22 / oddcast / aac+
I believe that Oddsock is using a Content Type of aacp.
Using a .aac extension with this Content Type may present a conflict.
This might actually be by design.
I will do some further testing with Winamp and report here tomorrow.
I will also double-check with the developer of Winamp for complete
clarification.
FYI, Orban Opticodec-PC allows the use of either Content Type of aac
or aacp. aac is

Can't connect winamp source to icecast server
Gidday,
I have a winamp 2.95 source that cannot upload the stream to my icecast

Since icecast is compatible with shoutcast surely a winamp source should
be able to connect?
any help appreciated,

MP3 MetaData in WMP and RealOne
Hi Everybody,
It works with Peercast because Peercast receives the headers from Icecast2
and sends its own headers back to the client (Winamp, WMP, Real...).
Remember that Peercast is a client AND a server... I guess Peercast doesn't
send back the headers in the same way than Icecast2. Maybe Peercast doesn't
use ICY/X-audiocast.
Talking about Real (v9.0 and 10), I already got the

Icecast Station Browser for Winamp Media Library...
Hi Oddsock,
brilliant again :-)) The only thing I my WinAmp 2.92 missed under
Win2k was the iconv.dll, which you didn't ship with the installer.
After that everything went fine.
Just a few suggestions:
- How about loading a list once the "Icecast stream directory" is
selected from the menu on the left side? When I choose "Internet
Radio" (the WinAmp builtin) they

Winamp v5.22 / oddcast / aac+
Ok, it's not as bad as I thought. With some investigation and
discussion with a "Major Dude" in the Winamp forums, it appears to be a
bug in Winamp v5.22 with streams that end with the mountpoint extension
.aac. I changed the mountpoint to end with .aacp and now it works fine.

Ross.

Re-Assembling SongData in Icecast Streams..
Right... I understand how the stream works and we have no confusion at
all then.
So I need to create a script to re-inject MP3 Metadata from my
handy-dandy XML file (when it changes) which is easily done if, as you
say, there're a few variables that the admin.cgi can listen for (of
course Icecast has no admin.cgi)
The info you've provided for Shoutcast is useful and you allude to
