live streaming (from microphone to HTTP)
Can anyone share some ideas or point me to some documentation on how I can
easily begin streaming live audio?
My input would be /dev/audio (my microphone or soundcard
input).
Is there some type of small HTTP server that can use this /dev/audio piped
through oggenc (or the ogg vorbis library built into the httpd)?
Or do I use a FIFO and any regular httpd?
(I am running NetBSD.)
Thanks,

Realtime encoding at 44.1khz
Hi:
I've been experimenting with streaming vorbis across my network from the
windows box to an icecast2 server on my linux machine (the server I usually
use is having some network issues at present). I've tested both ostream
0.7.1 and oddcast beta26. It seems that neither can encode on the fly on
my P2-266 at 44100 fast enough to be able to stream it. Ostream looked the
more promising

Vorbis streaming
Hi. Can anyone tell me the best way to stream Ogg Vorbis to an Icecast2 or
compatible server under Windows? I would need something that doesn't rely
heavily on graphics, as I have a blind friend who wishes to be able to do this.
Thanks,
Lorenzo

"live" stream online
hi,
there is a low bitratestream available for testing. it's around 40kbps and
it sounds really bad, because it's 11khz stereo :).

compilation options to get install.packages() to invoke tcl/tk
Hi UseRs,
I've just installed 2.10.0 on Ubuntu hardy, compiling from the tar.gz bundle.
install.packages() just says "Error in install.packages() : no
packages were specified"
The "normal" hardy 2.6.2 version pops up a tcl/tk menu for repositories.
I'm assuming I missed a configure option for tcl/tk, but the configure
script says that --with-tcltk is
the default.

The future for open streaming solutions at the BBC?
Hi all,
I recently emailed a query to the maintainers of BBC London website
(http://bbc.co.uk/london) asking if they had any plans to move away from
Real Server as a means for streaming audio and Video of their live radio
and tv broadcasts to something a bit more cross platform like OGG/Vorbis
or even MP3's. The reply I received was :
"I'm afraid we only plan to use Real Player

definitely open source, and a recommendation, since it does not *beep*
with the registry too much, has a clean, no bullshit interface, supports
a large number of codecs and is one of

streaming video
An online Christian radio station who I do some technical work for is considering branching out to the video streaming arena. They have free preaching videos they can broadcast. They are only familiar with Windows and want to stay with that.
I think I can talk them into using Theora & Icecast2, but the 1 million dollar question is how does one take several high quality MPEG or AVI videos,

zlib plugin producing errors on 2.3.0
Hello,
I use the zlib and imap_zlib plugins on FreeBSD. As of 2.3.0, my logs
are producing these errors every so often, but AFAICT the messages
themselves aren't getting corrupted.

bug? ogg123 and mono files
hello,
I try to listen to the stream at http://ogg.radiostudio.org:8007/ostream.ogg
with
ogg123, it's a 44100/mono stream. It sounds to me like a mono file played as
a stereo
file. there are very often silent drop outs and the music is pitched. is
this a bug
in ogg123?
I changed to stereo encoding and know it's better (normal pitch without
silence), but
I have klicks/scratches in

[LLVMdev] AsmWriter.cpp:255: error: ambiguous overload for `std::basic_ostream<char,...
No, Chris, I'm not buying that argument, due to I've tweaked
/usr/include/types.h a little bit, so the configuration and compilation of
the cfrontend would be correct:
/*
* 64bit type for BSD compatability
*/
#ifdef __GNUC__
typedef long long int quad_t;
typedef unsigned long long int u_quad_t;
typedef long long int int64_t;

With the newest patches to LLVM, there should be no reason for having
