Samba 2.2.8a :: High CPU usage
Hello,
I'm facing a silly problem right now. I've installed samba 2.2.8a
on a linux box, which is running SuSE 8.0 with a 2.4.20 kernel.
The problem is that the performance of the samba installation is
quite poor on this system. As we tried to figure out what the
reason is, we saw that the smbd daemon is running with a cpu usage
up to 98%. That seemed strange to me and I have no clue

Dovecot + libsodium
Hi,
Thank you very much for creating and maintaining dovecot!
In my scenario, I want to use the password hash algorithms provided by
libsodium: https://download.libsodium.org/doc/
So my difficulty is to have dovecot support libsodium's hash algorithms,
particularly: crypto_pwhash_scryptsalsa208sha256_str
On the sodium maillinglist I asked for help and received an adjusted
dovecot code,

Maybe another and easier way would be to implement the ogg vorbis
format in Real Networks "open sourced" Helix streaming server

I like to control the ticks and labels in a boxplot as described for a
xyplot below (thread in maillinglist in may 2003). Does anybody knows
how it works?
Thanks in advance

RPM Unpacking??
Hey there,
I downloaded the Kernel Source 2.2.17 from the ext3 site, however I can't
seem to figure out how these rpm's work (I don't like RPM's and I rather
not use em either :-( no offense :-)) and I kinda miss the good old simple
.tgz files which show me where they extract and I can compile myself n
stuff.
Anyways I tried rpm -iv <package name> then some stuff happened

Hi,

the line below replace all AUTO string's like AUTOBAHN
,AUTORENNEN with 1 but nothing happend.
Using the [] in the pattern it works like i'm expected, but i didn't

add user script & samba 3.0b
Howdy,
I would like to use the samba server as a replacment for NT Servers.
So I need the add user script command for adding new machines to the domain.
This is no problem in all 2.2.X versions of samba which I used.
But on version 3.0 alpha and beta it is not working.
I am using debian 3.0r1 with the unstable package of samba 3.0beta.

ffmpeg2theora start and end time support
For last few days I was trying to learn ffmpeg and libtheora API. In the
process, I have modified ffmpeg2theora code to include support for start
time and end time.
ffmpeg2theora -s 60 -e 130 file.avi
will produce file.ogg which will be from 60th to 130th second of input
file (something like -ss and -endpos in mencoder). This is a useful
feature for someone who wants to cut a part of video

ext3-acl & coreutils
G'day...
I've installed the acl - xatrrib patch from bestbits and it works nice on
my RH9 system with Samba..
the only problem i encounter is that a file or directory losses it's
extended atrributes when you copy it..
for example cp "--preserve=all /source /destination" preserves the normal
acl af the linux system, but skips the acl/xattrib from bestbits.

wrong user -> groupmapping
i stumble into the following prob..
got 302 - mysql3 - rh9
i have aprox 1200 users, and 1190 are domain users..
i got like 5 users, who should be mapped into domain user
mapped into domain admin ???
in the /etc/passwd and /etc/group files, the are mapped
in to domain user group, and NOT in the domain admin group..
(so this would be fine..)
in the mysql-db, the group sid- is set to the same sid

bug with automatic added users ?
Hello,
I'm running samba 2.0.7 in a little nt-domain with security = domain.
This works fine, but I don't want to manually put my nt-domain-users to
local users of my linux server. So I put in my smb.conf quick and
dirthy:
add user script = /usr/sbin/useradd -m -s /bin/false %u
This works, smbrun called useradd and the account would be successful

p-val issue for ranked two-group test
Hi-
I'm wondering if anyone can help me with my code. I'm coming up dry
when I try to get a p-value from the following code. If I make a
histogram of my resampled distribution, I find the difference between
by groups to be significant. I've ranked the data since I have
outliers in one of my groups.
