Difference in behaviour with --backup
When I do rsync -av --backup --backup-dir=/dir1/dir2/Backup \ /dir1/dir2/dir3 machine:/dir1/dir2/dir3 I get /dir1/dir2/Backup/dir3/... /Backup/dir3/dir4/... i.e. the tree under 'dir3' (my source tree) gets created under .../Backup. This is fine. But when I do the same thing with a single file like rsync -av --backup --backup-dir=/dir1/dir2/Backup \ /dir1/dir2/file

icecast 2 testing
hello, could someone test the my icecast 2 server? there should be a stream at http://real.radiostudio.org:8000/vorbis, but I'm not able to listen to it. I don't know if the problem in winamp or in icecast or in my streaming application. You could also send a stream to it, it's the default icecast password. I would be very happy if someone could test it :)))))) mörk --- >8 ----

Compiling Asterisk with gcc 3.4
Hi there.. Compiling Asterisk (CVS from 10.05.04) with gcc 3.3.2 works fine. But I have to compile the Kernel with GCC 3.4. Trying to compile Asterisk with gcc 3.4 will result in a compiler-crash. Any idea? Yours, Karl

pipe and windows
Mark found some bugs with pipes in 0.5 that I fixed in CVS. they *might* be the same as what's causing the problem for you. I will do a 0.6 release this week with the fixes and do more pipe-related testing. [PATCH] IMQ vs. local traffic
Hello, Some time ago I''ve read somewhere that local traffic in IMQ could hung up the whole system but it was corrected long time ago. So I was very surprised yesterday when it occurred not true. While testing IMQ I''ve observed for some time that - if you tag some local traffic with iptables both in pre- and postrouting - kernel is hunging up. It is happening quite quick with

[Bridge] [evb] RE: [PATCH][RFC] net/bridge: add basic VEPA support
Paul, I also think that bridge may not be the right place for VEPA, but rather a simpler sw/hw mux Although the VEPA support may reside in multiple places (I.e. also in the bridge) As Arnd pointed out Or already added an extension to qemu that allow direct guest virtual NIC mapping to an interface device (vs using tap), this was done specifically to address VEPA, and result in much faster

multi-channel / ambisonics
when i encode i multi channel file, does flac encode every channel seperatly or does is look for similarities between channels? the documentation says: INTER-CHANNEL DECORRELATION In the case of stereo input, once the data is blocked it is optionally passed through an inter-channel decorrelation stage. The left and right channels are converted to center and side channels through the following

unusual challenges speccing external software
This is something I''ve come up against twice. First, I have an interactive editor which calls vi, emacs, or TextMate (etc.) via Unix, and then loads the file handed to the editor back into IRB after it''s edited and saved. I guess that makes it a special case of a more general question, which is how do you spec external processes, with a slightly more complicated version of the

ultra-low bitrate stream?
I am writing a long-run sound recording application using OggVorbis. The user can adjust sound quality parameter to make balance between storage space and sound quality. The input sound is 22050Hz, mono. To maximize the recording capability on a given storage volume, we want the result bitrate as low as possible. I use -q0 parameter and it produces a 32.0kbps stream. It is too high (our

squelch-1.0beta10
I decided to write a changelog for once. Here's the text for this release: * Fixed repaint of last column in master track list. * Turned radio buttons into combo box in config dialog, used Qt Designer to make it instead of hand-coding. * Now plays sample rates other than 44100 and channel count other than 2, so you can play 22050Hz monaural recordings if you're that
