NHW Project - quality improvement - proper subband quantization
Hello, I have improved quality for -l1->-l4 settings.I have properly set up the wavelet coeff threshold of the dead-zone according to the different wavelet subbands, I have then saved another 1Ko per .nhw files without noticeable difference and so I have raised again the quantization. The reconstructed images have now a better precision and still a good neatness. Vorbis ACM codec
Is the Vorbis ACM codec still being maintained? CentOS and Intel S5000PAL NIC problem
Hello, - I have posted this to the Rocks Clusters discussion list, I will try here too. I have problems installing Rocks 4.1 and 4.2 Beta, which is based on CentOS 4.3 on Intel S5000PAL server board. My guess is that the installion requires "10/100/1000 Intel? 82563EB PHYs supporting Intel? I/O Acceleration Technology" to be fully up. However, the included e1000 module seems to be not

Server based audio merge
Well, i don't know if we speak of the same ... The quality is ok, but the encoding of a PCM frame on the tested machine took 2ms, which (if the PCM frame is 7ms in length) means the machine can only encode three streams in realtime ... <p><p>Am Sa, 2003-11-22 um 03.30 schrieb Devendra Jalihal: > CELP based coders perform poorly when you mix streams. Server based audio merge
CELP based coders perform poorly when you mix streams. Perhaps, we need a transform code or a subband code at somewhat higher rate 12-16 kbps that will retain the quality after transcoding and mixing. Is the speex ultra-wideband based on subband coding? -Devendra Jalihal <p>On Fri, 21 Nov 2003, Ulrich B. Staudinger wrote: > Hi, > been silent in this discussion for quite long ...

Sound problem (that's marked as fixed)
Hello, I can usually find the solution for my problems by browsing the forums, but this time, I can't find anything that helps, so I'm asking. So the problem is that some sounds aren't playing in one game. Specifically, when I'm playing Phantasy Star Online (http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=2170), I have no background music. I do have some of

Psycho Acoustic models i Speech Coding
(This is almost out of topic but anyway...) It is surprising how little research effort have been put into psy-acou models for CELP. The basic problem lies in that it is not easy to alter the LP model without distroying the minimum-phase property (ie. the stability of the predictor). That leaves us with psy-acou modelling of the noise-part only. However, my own research is in constrained

Psycho Acoustic models i Speech Coding

Thanks! > /Pontus This is (sort of) done in the decoder with the optional perceptual filtering. Speex tries to shape the noise so that it sounds more pleasant, I believe. To really use perceptual coding, one would require fine granular control over quantization

[Flac-users] Mac Players
Are there any other Mac media players beside MacAmp Lite X that can play flac files? I ask because I'm having trouble getting MacAmp Lite X to play m3u playlists, of which I have over 500. Are there any alternatives? Thanks, Sean __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? New DSL Internet Access from SBC & Yahoo! http://sbc.yahoo.com

mac player for ogg streams
Hi, I have 2 Icecast2 servers set-up (1 unix and 1 win32) that I have been testing with live streams using Oddcast. I can get the stream playing in Winamp no problems but on the Vorbis.com site it suggests that Macamp supports streaming : "A MacOS vorbis player that has highly integrated streaming features." Although it doesnt say it specifically supports ogg, and as it happens it

mac player for ogg streams
Things to check out... MintAudio (http://mint.unsanity.com/) says it has Ogg Vorbis support, but I don't know about streaming. Unsanity Echo also lists Ogg Vorbis support (http://www.unsanity.com/echo.php). I'd check it out, but I'm on a slow connection right now. BTW, http://macosx.forked.net/ has MacOS X ports of libogg, libvorbis, icecast, mpg123 and xmms. On Thursday,
