Comparison Between MP3 and Vorbis
Hello All, I realize that I am using pre-release code. I realize that the bitstream format will change in a couple of days. I realize that at this point comparisons between MP3 and Vorbis still don't mean much. BUT I couldn't resist. I ripped a random track off of one of my CDs and did some comparisons between Vorbis and MP3. I thought you guys might be interested in the results.

Compiling the 'cmdline' demo
Hello, I found out about Vorbis and Ogg recently and am very interested in it. I grabbed the latest sources from CVS and have been able to compile almost everything. The only thing (to my knowledge) that I can't compile is the 'cmdline' demo. Everything compiles correctly there error comes in the linking stage. The error message is reproduced below: make target

Meta-data enabled encoders
Hello, I have been following Ogg Vorbis for about two months now. I like it. A lot. I can't wait to use it. I want to use it so bad it hurts. The only thing stopping me at this point is the inability to add artist, title, and album information to the file. I consider that a must before I start ripping files into the .ogg format. Does anyone have *any* kind of a timeframe on an encoder (for

Where is this WiMP plugin that supports Icecast2 Vorbis streams? I would be very much interested in that. And where also is the Real plugin?

Your best options is : Use ADS, with backend RID. If you have 1 DC and (or 1 extra member server ) than RID is you best option, no hassle uid/gid and RFC2307 things.. but beware if you do things on linux.. than you can

wbinfo with trusted domains
Hi, I just compiled samba 2.2.5 with winbind and successfully joined my domain. wbinfo -t shows the secret is good wbinfo -m shows the trusted domain wbinfo -a will authenticate to the local domain and the trusted domains wbinfo -n will only return a sid if I pass a name in the local domain wbinfo -u only shows users in the local domain but man page says it should show users in trusted

(SOLVED ) you have been logged on with a temporary profile_win7, client+samba 4+WinServ2012
Hi Yes you are right it is a workaround but the reason is not resolvable at the moment is because Samba server is not registered in our DNS yet. I believe once a DNS entry is created, I will be able to use the name instead of the IP in the user's profile path. yes, agree Rowland, and he added 1 extra problem. Kerberos auth, does not work right if you dont use the hostname (best in fqdn ) for the server it may work, but other things maybe not. for example, if you install also a squid proxy and you want to use kerberos auth. you must use the FQDN of the host in your browser to get it working. and thats just 1 example. It better you fix your dns and

Re: More on Samba 3.0 vs Samba TNG
Hi, well, I guess that this is something that I need to plan to do :-). I'm developing a plan for a group of updated docs for TNG (and Samba, compared to TNG). Quickly, you're asking for 1) A bulleted list? 2) A Kvivio flowchart? 3) Some other comparison? Could you tell me in general terms: do you need to "sell" TNG to the boss or something? I can't give it to you now.

(SOLVED ) you have been logged on with a temporary profile_win7, client+samba 4+WinServ2012
Hi I got help from someone in the #Samba channel. It turned out that my Samba Server (JIMMY) was not resolving. DNS was not aware of him. So the suggestion was to use the "netbios name = JIMMY" in my smb.conf and in the user's "profile tab" enter the path using jimmy's IP. \\IP\disk1\profs That did the trick. Thank you everyone for your time and help. Many thanks
