Winamp plugin bug
Okay I just found out about Vorbis today. I like it! However the Winamp
plugin bug struck me the first time I used it. I used the encoder to
compress 2 wavs. Each time I play these ogg files I either get a Winamp
crash or a beep at the end of playing the file.
I checked the archives and saw the old posts for this same bug. Has it been
fixed in a newer version?
I take it since the Winamp plugin

oggenc
Anyone hacking on oggenc to make it faster? It seems pretty slow on my PIII
500. Of course I am judging that against mp3 compression which is heaps
faster on my machine. Is ogg encoding more complex than mp3 encoding?

Winamp bug
Sorry I didn't make my question clearer.
What I did was use the oggenc program to encode some ogg files. Then I
played them inside Winamp with the ogg plugin. Everytime I play an ogg file
I get a beep at the end. Sometimes it will crash the Winamp ogg plugin
sometimes it won't.
I downloaded the cvs nightly snapshot code but I have yet to compile it. I
am getting out of environment space

Winamp plug-in; http streaming revisited
Here's my latest hack of the current httpstream.c as well as updated
resources. Yes, I know it was time that would have been better spent on
writing new streaming code from scratch :P

Oggenc bug & other
Hello!
I would like to send some bugs and bugfix(es):
1. There is an encoding bug in the beta 3 (downloaded exe from the
vorbis.com) and in the latest CVS (jan. 10.) too (compiled with
MSVC 6.0):
If the file contains some non-audible noise at the begin or at the end,
the encoder/decoder makes some large clips in the output file,
if the bitrate is 350kbit/s . If I use 256kbit/s or

Winamp plugin; http streaming
Sorry, had to foward this. Chris: Majordomo is triggering on the HTML
in the message and rejecting it. A minor pain, but that alone catches
half the spam that would otherwise show up on the list...

Ogg doesn't measure up?!
Nullsoft Streaming Video. Basically a video container format. Can be used
for files or streaming. Though it can use any audio video formats
internally currently it is just VP3/MP3 (or VP5/MP3, but that's internal
only and not publicly available). Basically video for the next version of
SHOUTcast.

Ogg doesn't measure up?!
Sorry for the crosspost but I think it's important.
Tom Pepper of Nullsoft, posted this yesterday.
"We've considered heavily which direction seems most appropriate for the

decision process was to provide smaller consumption of bits while
maintaining similar quality and compatibility with existing playback

[OT] Byacc error
Hi all,
Yeah, I''m going OT here...
I''m not entirely sure I understand how Ruby builds parse.y on Windows,
but it works. However, when I changed all instances of "Ruby" to
"Sapphire", and renamed all the source files, I suddenly started getting
this error:
byacc ./parse.y
''byacc'' is not recognized as an internal or external command,

machine account isn't created in LDAP database
I have bought SuSE Enterprise Server 10 from Novell. I have configured LDAP &
Samba as PDC for my local LAN. Now when I try to join my Windows clients
machines using the Administrator as username, I get the error " user not
found". Infact, when I see the LDAP database, the machine account is added.
But still the clients do net get added to the Domain. Now If I add Suse

solved: building icecast2 on OpenBSD
Icecast2 compiles on OpenBSD 3.2 with the steps outlined by Moritz (thanks for
that). I'm running into problems streaming ogg files from the fileserve
directory, although serving mp3 files from the same directory happens without a
hitch...again, both work fine on a Debian system. I'll try building the ogg and
vorbis libraries from source to see if that fixes anything (they are

apache refuses to start because of port conflict
Here is the deal. I''m trying out the latest Instant Rails and when I
start it Apache claims that the web port is being used.
"Apache cannot be runned : another Web server use the Web port"
Okay, no problem. I went into the Apache configuration and changed the
port it was binding to. However I get the same problem.
The troubleshooting continues, so I install Apache by itself

openssh-2.3.0p1-1 with RedHat 6.2 - Bad packet length
I haven't been able to get scp to work with RedHat 6.2 (select: Bad file
descriptor), so... I tried upgrading with openssh-2.3.0p1-1.src.rpm and
openssl-0.9.5a-3.src.rpm No joy. When running just ssh, I get
"Disconnecting: Bad packet length 795178083."
This seems to be a problem with sshd, since the 2.3 ssh client will work
fine with a 2.1 server (but not scp, which still gives

Theora vs. Nullsoft NSV
How does the Theora project differ from Nullsofts NSV project?

I think what they're trying to do here is not only block non-SCDNAS
servers, but also as many non-Shoutcast sources as they can. Think about
it - if you're streaming MP3Pro without

Sapphire registration
Hey all,
If you tried to register with the Sapphire project but were
unsuccessful, please try again. I didn''t have the email settings
properly set, so I wasn''t getting the approval notifications.
In any case, I''ve changed the project settings so that you should be
able to login immediately after registration, without having to wait for
admin approval.

Guild Wars
I cant seem to get Guild Wars to run at all. When I launch it I I get an error "Guild Wars has encountered an unrecoverable graphics driver error and must terminate". This is a Guild Wars message and not a Wine message.
So I'll cover the basics. My system is a P4 3.2 Ghz with an AGP bus, and 2gigs of ram. I'm currently using an ATI based Sapphire 3850 AGP card 512m, and running
