Question on the nature of b3/b4 changes
I have a number of .ogg files encoded with b2, and some with b3. Is the
psychoacoustic model in the forthcoming b4 significantly improved over these
builds, such that re-encoding these files would give me either noticeably
better sound, or smaller files? Also, just out of curiousity, will
b4-encoded files be playable with older WinAmp plugins?
Incidentally, I did some tests with b2 a while back

XMMS 1.2.6 package in debian breaks xmms-flac
This is mostly to Matt Zimmerman. The xmms package in unstable was
updated to 1.2.6-1; that's fine.
Then I noticed my XMMS would no longer play FLAC files. I run testing,
not unstable, I thought. What could have happened?
That change was propagated into testing without an xmms-flac update! Huh?
This makes me wonder: xmms-flac 1.0.2-1 should depend on xmms = 1.2.5. I
think because this

Frustrated with Ubuntu XMMS, XMMS-Liveice, and icecast
I have XMMS and XMMS-liveice setup to use ALSA to stream audio to my
icecast server using LAME encoding.
I start the sound file and i can see XMMS playing away happily, icecast
detects the connection and shows the source as being connected, but no
bandwisth useage. If I connect to the icecast server I get a client
connection, but no sound.
Scanning other forums there appears that there might

XMMS with liveice-xmms plugin
Am I making the right assumptions.... I run icecast and then only need to
run xmms with the plug in enabled to stream to the net.... Or do I need to
run LiveIce as well???
When I try running liveice and xmms together xmms locks up.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Kevin

CAPI: Early-B3 working with AVM-B1?
Hi,
I tested the capi_chan with latest cvs of * and I have problems with
Early-B3. The following dialstring works for me (without Early B3):
exten => _0X.,1,Dial(CAPI/@22715291:${EXTEN:1}|30)
But if I add the 'b' for using Early-B3
exten => _0X.,1,Dial(CAPI/@22715291:b${EXTEN:1}|30)
nothing changes (no dialtone). If in this example the called party
discards the call, there is no

chan_capi [0.4.0|-cm-0.5.4] and Asterisk 1.2.0-beta1 - early B3 not early enough sometimes
Hi,
I've just installed Asterisk 1.2.0-beta1 for the first time and downloaded
chan_capi and compiled it in and run it. (For comparison purposes, I've
tried this with both chan_capi-0.4.0PRE1 and chan_capi-cm-0.5.4 and
chan_capi-cm latest CVS). Whilst most things are fine, it seems that if I
specify the 'b' parameter in the dial string before the number, sometimes

xmms-flac security update breaks XMMS' flac-playing ability
Hello,
First post to this group. I've been searching for about a week now to
find anyone who can solve this problem or point me to the solution.
I've been a happy xmms-flac user for 4 years until this week when some
new FLAC security updates came along and completely stopped XMMS from
playing FLACs on my PC. This is most irritating as I have over 3,500
CDs ripped and FLAC'd in

xmms plugin for ogg
Hi there,
As per my long winded tale yesterday, the link to the xmms plugin on
the site is a binary executable. Where can I get the source? I want to
get xmms going with ogg files on a FreeBSD box.
Thanks,

Why is ogg123 so much slower than XMMS?
On a PII233 system running linux with ogg-vorbis-RC2,
when playing a 2-min 48kbps ogg file, ogg123 takes much more CPU time
than XMMS (several seconds with ogg123 vs. less than one second
for all XMMS threads added up). Since the pids are the same, I
am sure that XMMS did not create new threads when playing one song.
I think this has to do with soundcard interaction.

xmms-mp3
Hi,
I have a (stupid?) problem getting xmms-mp3 added to a CentOS 3.1 desktop:
'xmms' is the distro one, and 'xmms-mp3' comes from Dag Wieers (I used to
use freshrpms on redhat 9, but for some reason freshrpms doesn't do rhel3).
Any ideas?

Using liveice-xmms with icecast
hi,
in an attempt to set up a little stream, i downloaded and installed
both icecast2 and liveice-xmms. i can start icecast2, and i can
modify the settings to the xmms plugin from within xmms, but i'm at a
loss as to how to create a stream, connect it to the server, or then
listen to it. i've been looking at the docs on the icecast page[1].
can anyone point me in the right direction?

xmms plugin
Anyone else hacked together an xmms plugin for Vorbis? I took my best
shot at it based on the source and some of the info I've picked up off
this list... I haven't really tested it yet, but I think with a little bit
more hacking it might actually work.
I can put the source up if anyone wants to dink around with it, but I'd
rather just clean it up a little then perhaps ask xmms if

XMMS: busywaiting??
So, I'm seeing XMMS behave mighty strangely here.
decode_example piped into a command line player manages to playback realtime on
my p233 somewhat easily. XMMS (with the Vorbis plugin) utterly pegs the CPU
and stutters badly.
So, I started playing. Playing back mp3, xmms stutters badly (mp123 and xaudio
play back realtime without difficulty). Playing back straight wav files, xmms

xmms-plugin problem
hello!
I use flac 1.0.2 with xmms 1.2.5 . The problem appears when I use the
scroll bar to listen a few second forward in the song ("seek to ...").
Then xmms does'nt react and stops playing music for a few seconds.
After these few second xmms works fine again and plays the song. The
length of these pause is longer when I want to listen near the end of
the song; its shorter when

Hello.
I can't find a gsm plugin for XMMS.
How do Unix, Linux, BSD users listen to gsm samples ?

xmms and icecast
Hi list,
Can anyone tell me weather there is a plugin available for xmms that will let me direct the output of xmms to an icecast
server? Rather like the shoutcast plugin for Winamp.
