Samba MiniConf at LCA 2003
Hello All, I'm one of the organisers for The Australian Linux Technical Conference called linux.conf.au (LCA for short). At LCA we are having mini-conferences. These mini-confs are not officially part of the main LCA but are aimed at specific subsections of the (Australian) Linux community. Currently at LCA2003 we have a confirmed Debian mini-conf SAGE-AU (Systems Administrators Guild of

Linux Conf "Australia" 2010 Miniconf?
Linux Conf Australia 2010 is being held in Wellington, New Zealand from Monday 18th January to Saturday 23rd January 2010: http://www.lca2010.org.nz/ I'm planning to attend since that's near where I live. The first two days will be a series of parallel one day miniconfs, and I was wondering if we should propose a Xapian one (we have until July 17th to do so):

dataframe transposition
Dear R-helpers, I wonder if I could impose upon you for forther assistance, this time with dataframes: hopefully this will be of general interest, as I personally have found them hard to get to grips with. I was trying to transpose rows and cols and move col1 to the names. Then all sorts of things go wrong. Although the end result looks the same, page() shows the structure to be quite

Linux Plumbers Conference mini-conf on clustering?
Hi all, what do you think of a half-day / day long miniconference on clustering along LPC? (http://lwn.net/Articles/319215/) It's a bit late, but if noone objects, I'll submit a proposal tomorrow. What topics would you like to see discussed? We probably don't have enough mass to justify our completely own summit, but on-going integration, (lack of) progress since the meeting in

Latent class analysis, selection of the number of classes
Hi, I perform latent class analysis on a matrix of dichotomous variables to create an indicator of class/category membership for each observation. I would like to know whether there is a function that selects the best fit in terms of number of classes/categories. Currently, I am doing this with the lca() function of the e1071 package. This function requires me to specify the number of classes

LCA in e1071
Hello there, In the e1071 package,'lca' function only works for binary data for Latent class analysis. Am I right? I would like to test the agreement amongst 6 raters for nominal data ona scale from 1-4, and conduct a latent class analysis. What package and what function may I use? Thank you very much Lisa Wang Princess Margaret Hospital tel: 416 946 4501

model frame and formula mismatch with latent class analysis poLCA
Dear R-users, I keep getting an ERROR saying " Error in model.matrix.default(formula, mframe) : model frame and formula mismatch in model.matrix() " when i fit poLCA with more than 63 variables. Below are the details. I am trying to do a Latent Class Analysis using poLCA. My data set contains binary scores of, for instance, 200 students on 100 items. These numbers could even be more

FOSDEM: Lodging and presentations
Hi all, Since it looks like I''ll be attending FOSDEM, I now need to find some lodging, and if possible I''d like to line up a presentation or four. Someone in the community offered to let me crash with them if I came to the conference (someone with the nick of ''robk'' on IRC, I think), so I''d like to take that person up on it if possible.
