Consistency regarding compiled Cortado 0.6.0 source and the official binary
(I previously sent this message (minus some slight edits) to theora-dev at xiph dot org, but it did not seem to show up in the archives. I do not know if one has to be subscribed in order to post messages.) Among other things, this message concerns the compilation of the downloaded source code for version 0.6.0 of the Cortado Java applet. (the source was probably from a file that was originally

Processing library based on Cortado
Hi, I wrote a Processing.org library based on Cortado. Maybe the Cortado developers are interested in it. At the end of November I sent a question to this list asking about the licensing of Cortado and its libraries (see http://lists.xiph.org/pipermail/theora-dev/2009-November/004015.html). As I wanted to create a LGPL library, I rewrote the package com.fluendo.utils, I don't use

Consistency regarding compiled Cortado 0.6.0 sourceand the official binary
It should probably not be necessary in my case to compile a custom version of the Cortado applet-the official binary works fine, and may be advantageous over a locally-compiled version (regarding compatibility with 1.1-era JVMs), as was mentioned in a previous message. My interest was to include the corresponding source code when distributing the official binary (i.e. as would be required for

RELEASE: Cortado 0.2.2 'Really Tested Verily Exceptionally'
This mail announces the release of Cortado 0.2.2 'Really Tested Verily Exceptionally'. This is Cortado, a multimedia framework for Java written by Fluendo. It contains: - JST, a port of the GStreamer 0.10 design to Java - jcraft, a copy of the JCraft JOgg/Jorbis code - jheora, an implementation of Theora in Java - codecs (currently only containing the Smoke codec, a variant on Jpeg) -

Pure Java theora implementation - LGPL
I've started working on a pure-java port of Theora under the LGPL, as a subproject of FMJ, the open-source implementation of JMF. It is similar to and dependent on the jogg/jorbis libraries from jcraft. The Cortado implementation is nice, but since it is GPL, that is too restrictive for FMJ, which is LGPL. This is, naturally, a large undertaking, and any help by anyone interested would

First public release of Flumotion Streaming Media Server
Hey everyone, we finally bit the bullet and threw out our firstborn for public consumption. For those not yet in the know, Flumotion is a streaming media server based on GStreamer and Twisted under development by Fluendo. This release gives users access to the basic features of the server and demonstrates its distributed capabilities. We will follow up with a release within a couple of weeks to

release of cortado 0.1.0
Hi everyone ! As a special Christmas present, Fluendo is releasing the source code to the java-based "Cortado" media player. See http://www.flumotion.net/ for more details, or check our demo streams (with applet) at http://mirror.fluendo.com/ This player has great support for Ogg/Vorbis/Theora, using the Jorbis code and the Jheora port of Theora to Java written by Wim Taymans. How Ogg mappings translate into the codecs parameter in Ogg media types
Hi all, I am trying to set up the codecs table in the wiki and we have played a bit with Dirac to find out what existing tools write into the header. The Schroedinger implementation by Fluendo uses (or used to use) "KW-DIRAC" as the identifier in the Ogg header. "BBCD" is the identifier of each of the Dirac data packages. More recently, I read that the Dirac Sequence header

encoder settings
Hi! Some background: I am trying to create an application that would encode video taken by USB camera using Theora and then send it to the client. I have almost succeeded, but I have one problem. When I grab video frames from the camera and encode them they form 4KB OGG pages, then I send them over TCP/IP to the client application. Since I want to achieve as small latency as possible I

Attempts at live streaming (long)
I would like to hear from anyone who has had some success in this area. I have got it to work but the picture freezes and stays frozen when there is a lot of motion. I will share how I got to that stage since I have tried some different approaches to those I have seen documented so far. I currently stream live video events for a non-profit using Helix Producer but would like to move to something

Another web-based vorbis player
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 This one looks promising: https://core.fluendo.com/flumotion/trac/browser/cortado/trunk/README It is JS-controllable, so if I can force myself to sit down and do some web hacking, I might be able to create a myspace-like player that'll let people select different tracks to listen to. It's not flash, but it seems pretty lightweight. - -ken

Guadec 2005 and DirectShow Filters
Hello all, I have been trying to play the Guadec Theora files ( http://stream.fluendo.com/archive/6uadec/ ) on Windows with no success. At first I thought it was just the machine which I was trying it on, but I now have seen another machine play other Theora files (Systm, Ubuntu Below Zero) without problems, but treat Guadec as just being audio files. I do also have another machine here which

playing DVDs on C7
Hi all! I'm trying to finish setting up my newly upgraded C7 system. It's on the same hardware I ran C6 on for several years. on C6 I had no trouble playing DVDs (after installing tons of packages and libdvdcss). Well, on C7, I've got totem (videos) and all its plugins I can find via yum, VLC (from nux) all the gstreamer and gstreamer1 packages I can find, everything with

Snipping the beginning off Theora files
Hello all, I'm sure that this must have been answered by someone in the past, but I couldn't find it. I have downloaded the Theora files of the 6uadec Gnome conference from: http://stream.fluendo.com/archive/6uadec/ While it is great that they have them available, most of them seem to have a lot of video of empty room before the speaker starts (sometimes 20 minutes or so). I am wanting

Changing the IDCT spec
So, in preparation for some decoder optimization work planned by Rudolf Marek, the subject of the size of the registers needed in the IDCT came up. The current spec language ensures that the result is exactly compatible with the C code for VP3. This language requires that some of the arguments to the multiplies be 17 or 18 bits, because they need to hold the sum or difference of two 16-bit
